being colorblind doesn't mean being blind. I'm colorblind, and I have red-green defficency, what means I normally can't see red, green or any other combination of these colors, like orange (I see yellow), purple (I see blue), brown (I see dark yellow-green), pink (I see gray), etc. (in medical terms, I suffer protanopia). I've never knew how the red color looks like till I got my enchroma, for example. So, without that glasses, I only can distinguish yellow, gray, black, white, blue and dark green. I can't see any other color. When I tried enchroma for the first time, I could see colors I've never seen before, but, however, I could name all of them. I knew purple was similar to blue (other people had told me), and when I saw the purple balloon, I knew instantly it was purple, despite I had never seen that color. The same happened with red. Normally, I see gray instead of red, and when I saw that color I've never seen, so brilliant, I knew was red (well, I have to confess the problems came later, when I saw orange. Today I confuse red and orange when I wear the glasses and name them, but is my fault, the glasses allow me to see them correctly). It's very hard to explain how is it and how you feel to people that have seen all colors for all their lives. Enchroma is a miracle. And yes, I cried when I see correctly for the first time
@Ganda Gandara Not only red. The world has a myriad of color tones and micro-tones I coudnt't see. Infinite tones of blue, yellow, green or even gray I had never seen, despite I can see those colors normally. Infinite tones of colors and mixes my eyes had never taste. As I said, it's very difficult to explain to people that they are seeing all colors since their birth what we feel when colors open to our eyes. It's a new world for us with enchroma, a world I never imagine so beautiful. Seriously, it's a miracle.
