    Wow! What a treasure. As of 5/24 there is a Model T Speedster on eBay or $18,500. It has a Frontenac overhead valve conversion that doubles the hp. Very popular among speed enthusiasts back in the day, pretty rare today.

    Those drums brakes on the rear are just parking brakes . The main brake is in the transmission . Had mine wear out going down a long hill . That was a scary time and yes the rear parking brakes barely would slow it down . Next day I had Kevlar bands on order 😅

      Indeed. Unless they had Rocky Mountain brakes you are SOL if that band breaks.

      @@briantallon1 coming down the hill with the brake band gone off as one scary ride . I have a 1924 and the rear drums are steel shoes on steel drums . Good for parking , bad for slowing down . Rebuilt a ruckstell large drum and installed floating hubs and the disc brake kit . That was money well spent

      Oh but before I got the ruckstell rebuilt . I had the Kevlar bands in and they made a world of difference

    Fascinating to see those ads with South Michigan Avenue addresses. That was the original automobile row in Chicago. It's interesting to see that specialty aftermarket suppliers set up shop there alongside the dealers. I was with my father when he bought several cars from City Chevrolet down there in the '60s. New cars stacked up in a multi-story commercial building.

      Interesting! There were so many aftermarket suppliers of parts, bodies, and more back then. Being close to the OEMs was crucial to their success.

    You're missing two important Model T tools; a leather belt to fix an engine bearing to get you home and a roll of haywire for anything that falls off. lol

    Peugeot won the 1912 Indy 500 with a 4 valve per cylinder, 4 cylinder engine, much more refined than the Roof/Ford. Buick has always had over head valves, from car #1. Not as rare a vehicle as you would have us believe. Most Speedsters probably had home built bodies, not the high dollar coachbuilt, bodies. I love Speedsters, they were cheap to build, and used Model T and Model A chassis were everywhere, in their day. Your's is very nice, and has a good history. Ionia to Lansing is about 30 miles, not hundreds of miles. Great story, bad history lesson.🤷‍♂️

    Percy Lambert drove 100 miles in the hour in1912. He died in following year. Memorial in Brompton cemetary. Happened at Brooklands track. Stone pnuematic tyre in memorial.
