All 5 of the songs on this ep are excellent. First time I heard this ep, I was a high school freshman; "it hit me like uh... 2 ton heavy thing".

Gotta remember...this was their 4- song EP.
Basically this was their audition for the record company.
You like this now upon first hearing it, think of how us oldsters felt when this first hit the shelves (back in 83?)... and we weren't even sure how to pronounce the name.
I was like...what? Only four songs?
Basterds better come up with something more... my buzz is still going strong....which they did... with The Warning.
And you can see how more refined they became...they just got better and better. (My personal favorite album is EMPIRE).

You are welcome my friends. I'm the physical therapist from North Carolina 50 years old . these boys opened up in my mind more into different types of metal at Virginia tech in the 80s... Actually thinking about it,. a lot of things opened up my mind back in college.🤣
I know this video is old but UTA has a video Brittney covering Queen of the Reich at a karaoke bar and she really nails that first note. Very impressive considering it was after a live show
The original note is an E (original + UTA cover) while she opens with a high B in that recording! That's more than half an octave higher.

Great reaction to me (personally) this is the best Queensryche. The warning era was queensryche at their peak. This was geoff at his best as i found in the latter stuff he was a bit lazy in utilizing his range a lot of the time. Imo. Great song. Also their is a video of Brittany doing this on karaoke in a bar in edinburgh after a scottish Unleash the Archers show. Absolutely brilliant. Needless to say i dont think anyone got up to sing after she was finished 🤘🤘
I still think Mindcrime is the best Queensryche album.

Love the original, and the cover, and the cover just kicks things up several notches, and makes it a UTA speed metal song.

Brittney Slayes is the lead singer for Unleash The Archers, and Geoff Tate was indeed the original lead singer for Queensryche, you were correct on that, Rich.

I remember 83 when my xgirlfriend turned me on to ryche she the organizer for queensrych fan club for her chapter and she give me a sticker and cassette and I'm like queensrych?? I was blown away 😃 then the warning came out🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 OMG 😳🤘🤘🤘🤘and the rest is history 🤘🎸💯 been a fan every since!
Some useless extra knowledge, Brittney from UTA listed Geoff Tate from Queensryche as one of her vocal influences. So this cover is kind of a nod to that.
This original vinyl is one of the hardest to find and buy. 5k Worldwide .
And I had one...then traded it in for a CD several years later.

Metal has been at my loves core. It's been my great companion through thick and thin and if needed, for wrong or right. This is the endearing portrait that's painted for me regarding our hosts. They both give informative opinions but mostly compliment each other hand in hand through their journey of music. It's great to see the love you share, for each other and for metal.

I were lucky to see the music video on TV when it were brand new, 35 years ago and bouvht all their CD's, Vinyls, DVD's, VHS's and Blu-Ray's since then. :) This is my favourite QR song. The first i ever heard from them. I will see Queensryche in november, but with LaTorre on vocals on this song.

They really played those instruments back in the day and had little interference with synthesizers or things of that nature queensryche they progressed and you heard the most raw version of that band.take into consideration that they were playing the instruments for real in front of a live audience stadiums were packed worldwide this band is awesome

Nice touch of the double tap... good to show two versions of the same song. Queesryche to me had a better tempo and guitars were fuller, UTA was a bit faster but all around cover since her vocals can hit them notes i dont hear bands cover this song. (male singers) but all in all the original song totally caught the 80s blueprint of vocals

I got to do a Meet & Greet with the band in Dallas at the House of Blues on March 20th. I'll send you a few pictures via email. They were so totally cool and being a lifelong fan of Queensryche, it was definitely a bucket list items checked off! I lost my left foot and part of my lower leg in October 2018. I kept in touch with the band via Twitter and they invited me to come to the VIP M&G. They autographed my prosthetic leg!! It was an amazing night...BTW, you need to listen to Todd La Torre, the current lead singer of Queensryche, sing this song- he can DEFINITELY nail the Geoff Tate version...

Oddly enough, while it's a decent cover she does better with those opening vocals in the karaoke setting th-cam.com/video/280DRqoGyLw/w-d-xo.html. I suspect she was trying to copy Tate's style in the opening, which unfortunately means she's not using her own style. The karaoke version is when her and her bandmates were unwinding after a show.
Queensryche should be respected and listen to fully with open ears and an open mind respect the lyrics that they write because Geoff Tate is a master at word play

5 records that were game changers for me Kiss Destroyer, Boston (debut album), Ozzy Osbourne Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman (Randy Rhoads changed the way that I thought about guitar) and the Queensryche ep.
I saw Queensryche with Metallica back in 88' and I like Queensryche, But I like the Unleash the Archer's version better.

Though the cover sounds great, nothing compares to the original. Saw them in concert down here in Corpus Christi, Texas on this self titled EP when when they were just becoming known. Each song on this EP was awesome. I used to record the songs on to cassette, play, pause, rewind and copy them note for note on guitar till I got the whole songs down. Brings back memories. By the way, Kel's got a nice pair of, ehm, rib cages. LOL.
