Thanks for sharing - a very interesting list. We own a GD 2670MK, but for recreational use only. I believe the mold and the finish on your cabinets are all related - moisture. Unlike in a house, running the AC in a camper can actually cause interior condensation, especially on windows. The smaller amount of air space in a camper gets more humid more quickly because every time you open the door you are exchanging a larger percentage of inside/outside air. Humidity from cooking and showering also play an out-sized role in the smaller space of a camper as well. A small or medium size dehumidifier will keep things a lot drier and really help alleviate your issues. Good luck!
Yes..lol! I have been living in mine, × six years...Radio/AMFM,mold galore, leaks...one thing I could tell you , to do is install a fantastic fan....helps with the mold/ moisture issue.Really good air exchange, and sucks all the moisture out with in 5 mins.Another thing is to keep all of your cabinets, ajar or open to let air flow, in/ out of cabinets.Dosn, t allow mold or slows it down.One solution is to put vents/ bigger the better on your cabinet doors,.... to allow temp. air inside( trailor) to flow in the cabinets...combination of perixide/ammonia mix to kill the mold..... I have had my eye on that model and seeing someone living in it full time tells me all I need to know. Little things come up and being handy is a plus. That's camper life.
in my five years of full time in a 2600RB, my major issues have been living through sub-freezing weather and the awning motor and LED lights to the trailer. I do not care so much about the exterior lighting but it is a pain that even after two months of replacing the awning motor, it fails yest again (and had it replaced by a professional). i need to replace the toilet bowl gasket but think i will wait until spring to replace it and the pedal mechanism bushing. not comprehensive, but most important thing i have learned: if leaving the trailer unattended for Christmas vacation, de-waterify! Meaning, disconnect water, drain system, turn off hot water tank, drain hot water tank, open low water points! I would leave to go home for two weeks and this is what i do for sub-freezing weather. I learned to put a heating tape on the low water points because the water will freeze up into the junction - this is why i suggest draining the water system and remove the drain plug of the hot water tanks! The hot water tank does not completely empty unless the drain plug is pulled. BTW, living in a 2017 2600RB.
It's nice to hear a fellow 2600RB full-timer's issues! Fingers crossed we haven't had issues with our awning motor yet. But we did have to replace the toilet. That's definitely interesting to hear about how you dealt with freezing temps- we just had our first experience with cold weather in our 2600RB (just put out a video yesterday about our mistakes!)
From an RV tech and 30+years of mobile electronics installation point of view... Jensen is trash, get something better.. and SEALANTS.. start on the roof.. reseal EVERYTHING with fresh Dicor NOW.. even if you don't think it looks like it needs it.. pay attention to your skylights.. Also just reseal ALL of the sidewalls.. including top and sides around the windows.. just do it.. mold is NOT from you being in it.. it's sneaking in a gap somewhere.. pay special attention to the seams on the sides of the slide.. I fixed them all the time when they're brand new before they even get sold... Grand design is my brand I love it... But every camper is junk and you're beating it up driving down the road.. SEALANTS!
Excellent comments, gary boone. I’m aiming to go full time living in a travel trailer by Summer 2022, and I don’t know where I stand anymore. I see so many bloody videos telling the truth that seem to substantiate your comments-they ALL seem to be made crappily. I’m almost at the point of opting to live in my SuperCrew truck and rough it a bit, vs. pay a full cash up front payment on a trailer that ends up being a rapidly decaying money pit. Really not sure at this point-but thanks for your sound advice, especially about the sealant. Smart!
You guys did a great overview of everything in this video. We’ve been living full time in our Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel for about a year and a half now and have had the same great customer service from Grand Design! We’ve had a dehumidifier from day 1 (and knock on wood, we haven’t had any issues with mold).
That's one of the reasons we went with our camper, we'd heard so many good things about the customer service. Glad to hear you haven't had any mold issues - I think we're going to start running our dehumidifier all the time now!

So amazingly the same as our 2018 Winabego 27BHSS trailer. Same issue with the propane hoses and regulator. Did you know that the stove vent has a damper inside it to close it off? You actually open it on the outside. It’s almost invisible when closed. You know it’s closed when the rv fills up with cooking fumes and the fan is running! We added a slide topper and it was a great decision. No more water seeping in. Highly recommend doing that.
We have the 2019 2250 RK and got a recall notice from Grand Design on the propane regulator in July. Rather than take it to the dealer 30 miles away, I replaced it myself for under $50 with new hoses with level indicators. Other than the usual minor warranty fit and finish fixes, we haven't had any problems. Our shakedown camping trip was in the snow in West Yellowstone, MT and we learned how valuable the fireplace heater is. It's been a great trailer. We repack the wheel bearings every spring and touch up the roof seams with dicor sealant. Best trailer we've had hands down in over 35 years of RV ownership. Thanks for the vid!
Yes, the oven pilot is always an issue. While we don't currently full time yet, I have to work really hard to get the pilot going. Once I get it lit, we leave it on until travel day. Really, how hard would it be to put an electronic spark thing there to make it easier. The only other issue we have had so far is because we have the TV televator, our HDMI cable going to the stereo comes unplugged. So, I have to get a ladder on the outside, prop open the window, and reach down and re-connect. Really, this stuff should be designed much better. Great to see you folks enjoying the lifestyle. Once I retire, we will be traveling full time. And yes, it is normal for things to break. I have learned that I have to fix those items and more. It's all about the journey! Thanks for your video!

Unplug your theater seats and store away the plugs in case you want them for later, now you’ve just increase your available 110v outlets by 4. We did this on our Imagine 2250RK since we don’t give a flip about the lighted, vibrating, heated cup holders. 😄
That's smart! At this point we've removed them and moved the outlets over so they're easier to reach, but if we ever put the recliners back in that's a great idea. Thank you for watching David!
So glad you posted this. My hubby and I are looking at the 22RBE for full time living.. only real size difference is a smallish couch instead of theatre seats and dinette. We are very happy you haven’t had anything major go wrong and this is encouraging for us!! I hope you get more happy years out of yours!

We had a new purchase 2017 GD 2150RB - loved it! Traded for a 2020 class C last fall. I don't remember having oven lighting issues... our class C has spark igniters on the burners AND oven - convenient. I think the only issue we had with the GD was loose screws - which is common with ANY camper. I think GD and others are finally moving away from those dark interiors. Our class C has much lighter colored trim and cabinets. Honestly paint is EASY! The only issue is that dark stain will probably take 2 coats of primer and possibly 2 coats of paint to cover! Spread the job out over 3 or 4 sessions! Do the bathroom, then move to the bedroom, etc.

Great info folks. We have the 2018 Grand Caravan 29.7. We bought the Friday build but Grand Design has honoured free re/re of all defects. The stain even flaked off in the bathroom drawers and they were replaced. Regardless it's our dream retirement home.

We have been in our RV for about 2.5 years and have had a lot of the same issues. The RV life definitely makes you lean to fix things yourself! Great share though it is always nice to see how everyone has their rigs set up and what it has been like for them after living in it for a long period of time! We have had our GD2150 going on 4 years now, its got over 20K miles on it.. I did replace the oven sensor because the oven wouldn't stay lit, if you can lite the pilot and it will stay lit it is ok, yes sometimes its hard.. got almost the 20k on the original tires, there is nothing wrong with them, just got new ones to start the year with.. stabilizer jacks were replaced, one led front light strip, were replaced by GD. I just finished staining and polyurathane on the drawers and doors of the cabinets from scratches over the past 4 years and they look good now... We also have had a couple of issues with mold inside when it sets over a period of non use for like 3 months, yes we use damp rid and watch it, never had that with out other camper! Overall its a good unit and I would recomend them, I still think they need a little work on their cabinets to improve the quality, and I still question the mold issue.. Thanks for your review.. w.
Lighting my oven in a 2500RL Imagine is easy if you count to 15. So turn the oven dial to light and push in and keep pushing in. I start counting from 1 to 15 in seconds. Crank the striker usually lights first try, THEN you keep holding the oven dial in until the pilot light stays lit when releasing the oven dial push.

We have had issues, fridge igniter, water heater, toilet issues (too), etc... New issues too, won’t give it away, because the videos are uploaded yet. Don’t worry Steph, Jennifer has a hard time starting the oven in our trailer too. Then I walk up and it lights.
The propane regulator and hoses you are indicating are for a small single capacity usage. Or just one load on at a time. The green handle units are for multiple capacity usage. Your original unit, like mine was designed with the green handle connectors. The color indicates a larger flow or capacity line feeding the trailers gas line. The black hose connectors indicate a supply hose to let’s say a gas grill and not a trailer gas header with multiple loads, like a refrigerator, stove, water heater and heater that could all be running at the same time. You should recheck the regulator for proper gas flow specs compared to the specs for the original regulator and replace those black connector hoses with green connector hoses.

We've had our GD Imagine 19RLE for a year and a half now, no issues. Definitely a Wednesday camper. LOL We have the same issue with lighting the oven, you're not alone on that one. We love our GDRV.
my wife had the same problem I got a old grill and tuck out the things that lights it up and put it in my stove I dried a hole in by the oven nobe , so now just push it to light it 😁
I also have a 2018 Imagine 18rule model. First trip out I had marker lights go out. The shower also leaked at the bottom of the curtain. The gas line underMeath was not fastened very good. My kitchen sink drain was over tightened so it was leaking. I've had to fix the sink from falling down into the cupboard. I got this unit 2/ 19. I am a fulltimer.
@@lifererouted ,I ended up calling the mfg to get the first few issues taken care of. Got those things fixed at a rep repair shop. The sink drain leaked again after so I put a Fernco coupling in. Any problems since then I fix myself, better way to get it done.
Thanks for being one of the VERY few to give such an in-depth critique of your Grand Design model. I'm gonna soon be in the market for a travel trailer, and Gr Design is one of the manufacturers near the top of my list (the other two being Winnebago and Lance). While Gr Design trailers are aesthetically pleasing and generally have nice floorplans, your critiques aren't the first I've heard about Gr Designs, which worries me. (Note: Since Winnebago purchased Gr Design, and given Winnebago's very solid quality reputation, I'm a bit surprised that the Winnebago's quality control hasn't translated into less problems for Gr. Design models. I'm still a bit undecided, but at this point, I'm leaning towards the Lance 2465, especially as the weight is under 6000 lbs., and it has a high quality, rock-solid look. Not quite as spacious as a Gr. Design, but there are pros and cons to both. Good luck in your future travels :)

One of us (Robin) gets it every time....the other guy almost burns the camper down trying to light it 😆. We have been full-time since Dec 2019 and love it. We have a 2019 Volante 33DB. We are stationary at a full time resort so haven't taken it out on the road yet. We have had issues with the facia in the kitchen, pantry doors and bathroom. It is an easy cosmetic fix. Our AC went out in the summer and that was the worst but it is fixed now after a warranty repair. It is tricky to light the oven, and I rarely use it. Lol. I want to take out the buffet table and couch asap! Not good for full time living. Other than that we love it. Looking forward to the kids graduating in a few years so we can take it on the road full time.
Regarding the finish on the kitchen drawer: they are not made of wood, use paint. Run a test first to see if it works. As a last resort, have anew drawer front made out of wood. I added doors in my bedroom (2019 model) that's when I found out about the cabinets.
Long time RVrs. The pilot light tube is very small and takes some time for the propane to get where it can be lit. Count about one minute. None of the newer made trailers or RVs have good workmanship. Expect trim to come off due to lack of glue and fasteners. Moisture is an issue in a trailer, especially due to bath shower use. Always crack a window and run fan to remove moisture, as well as crack windows when sleeping.
A couple of things. I put screws in the end caps to hold them on and I also bought a extra sewer hose holder off amazon. And we have yet to be able to light our oven. Its been three years now.
Our converter went out the first trip and it was hard to find too. It was behind the circuit panel. 7 screws were left inside this area which shorted the converter out. Could have started a fire. Not impressed with our Grand design build quality for the 2020 year. They seem to be rushing production bc of the pandemic and forgetting safety. I hope nothing else goes wrong. Oh and all the seals around the slide fell off on out 1st time out and the screen door always sticks. Other than that we love it and the floor plan. 2910bh

2020 2600rb here...some owner mods to these trailers is something a future buyer will have to get used to. The slide is too a nice space to see wasted on the stock offering. LOL My first mod was to put 3/8 X 3/16 foam strip around each of the drawer openings and cabinet doors. Not getting a flood of cold air next to the bed now.

I love the conversion you did to the dinette area. Nice job! I am considering a GD trailer as well, so your review on a GD trailer based on full time use is really appreciated. I am also very happy to hear that GD has good customer service. About things getting vibrated loose, have you considered some kind of suspension mod, especially since you are on the road full time? You can go crazy with suspension mods, but I am thinking of something modest, like the Sumo Springs, which I saw on the All About RV's channel. It seems to be an easy DIY job. I may even go for the Roadmaster Comfort Ride system if I feel particularly ambitious. :) Thanks for the video, and best wishes to you.
Thanks for the comment! We haven't done any mechanical mods to our rig. We love some of the mods we've seen, but until something happens (or someone pays us to show it off 😅) we won't be doing any. I do really like some of the suspension mods I've seen though.

We have a 2018 Reflection fifth wheel ,we had the same problem with our cabinets drawer and doors, called GD and they sent new front for the drawers and new doors (the new ones are doing the same thing).I don't think these RV are made for full time. Like the video.

I know this is old. But you probably should be checking leaf springs and equalizer on trailer. You have the nose down pretty far on the trailer....and rear hanging pretty low on truck......just look at it closely. It a wear point and at 10k your looking for trouble running nose down on trailer....rear down on truck. Have same truck and took me a few times setting hitch up correctly......might need a set of rear springs in truck or air bags. If it tows ok now......get it level you wont believe the difference. Wow, so surprised so many little issues for a Grand Design! Wow! We had a few things with our Montana when we bought it new 17 yrs ago...and the Montanas were popular like Grand Design...I hear many parts are from China and they are not able to get them.
I would not let Grand Design rest till they gave you some compensation for all those little issues. We have a 2003 Montana 2955 and have never had those issues and we have traveled lots in it...Im sure we put on more then 10k miles in the 10yrs we used it...its still in great shape...We were thinking of replacing ours with a grand design but now Im not to sure...

My Grand Design was definitely built on a Mon morning or Fri at 4. Though I've heard the whole industry has gone downhill the past few years and, knock on wood, no major problems so far (aside from the dealership discovering the AC was dead before I went to pick it up, but that was taken care of before I got it)
Nice rig! I have a Forest river vibe 34xl I full time in and have been very happy with it. I have had to do a few maintenance items and slight upgrades I've done but I expected that with any rv. As far as leaks go I have had great luck using Lexel clear silicone around outside outlets and windows. I use it a lot in construction and it seems to hold up to the elements well. Btw, I have the same shower door and I was skeptical at first but it works very well! I do leave it pulled out to dry a bit after showers 😉
Our cabinets have chipped in a few spots too. Just from stuff bumping it when moving I think 🤷🏻♀️ we also hate the rv oven we only use it as chip storage 🤣
We had similar issues of stuff rattling loose, missing screws. I found that the tires are NOT balanced from the factory. Keeping proper air pressure and getting the tires balanced and even rotated on a schedule greatly reduced the vibration related issues.
We make sure to check the tire pressure before we travel, it's helped us out. Rotating the tires is a great idea, I honestly haven't even thought about that!
I have a 23 bhe and we love the trailer and the floor plan. I've had issues with my radio too. The quality of the Jensen unit is very poor. I'll probably upgrade it if it goes bad again. Mine is a 2021 and I'm sorry I got this one during the pandemic. GD has been responsive but I'm. Having issues with customer service from General RV. GD did send me a new radio after the dealer told me it would be 2 months before they could see me. . Craftsmen are not building these things. The access holes are not square and wood chips are in every space that has a cover on it. My secondary spray port was missing and when I asked GD about it they said they ran out of them so built the trailer without it even though the advertising literature said it was there and I got 2 coiled hoses. I typically buy used and let someone selse go through these issues but we love the Floorplan and rvs are hard to find these days.

I hate lighting my oven so much in my 2020 GD Reflection that I purchased a toaster oven/air fryer. My oven is a Furrion. I am also full time. So I am with you on the oven complaint.
We've honestly talked about doing that so often! We use the oven so infrequently and it's a source of frustration (for Steph at least 😅) that we've seriously considered just not using it at all. Thanks for watching!

Hey, that corrosion looks like it's a result of dissimilar metals being in contact with one another. It's called galvanic corrosion. It seems like you had something sitting on top on the left side. To shield against that place a rubber pad between the metals that are touching, especially on those brackets I see there. That will prevent it.

You both did a great job on the video. We just purchased a 2020 grand design 2600RB and are looking forward to having a great time in it. Hopefully ours will hold up as good as yours. Great information.
We are 7 years in to our Winnebago 30RE. The weak point on most of these larger trailers is the suspension. It is minimum at best. Pay close attention to your wheel bearings, shackles, springs, etc, and make sure you never overload it. We stripped off the original 4400 lb axles, and went with 6000 lb axles. This got us much bigger wheel bearings, which were a weak point. It also got us 12” brakes. We also upgraded to the Mor Ride suspension, and wet bolt kit with thicker shackles. This made a huge difference on the way the trailer tows, and with the added suspension travel, nothing moves inside the trailer, and less falls apart. As far as the cabinet finish goes. They are cheap wood with a spray on finish, which will wear off easily. These campers were meant to be used occasionally and not lived I full time, unless your camper was rated for full time use. Everything will break, as far as appliances, because they were not meant to be used every day.

The best thing you can use on the frame to deal with the rust is POR 15 you can look it up on the internet it was designed and made to paint frames during a restorations on cars and trucks. I run a small loader and build most of my attachments to fit it and paint all of them with it. And it holds up working in the dirt. Easy to put on but not a good shelf life. My suggestion is to buy it by the quart , put it on with a brush and never worry about that spot again.

@@lifereroutedyour welcome. I've found that if I put it into a Masson jar with a air tight lid and keep it in the refrigerator I get a better shelf life. Don't get it on the threads of the lid though you will never get it off again without breaking the jar. If it forms a crust on the top of it just take a screwdriver and bust threw it. Doesn't need to be mixed with anything either.

@@lifererouted we full timed in a 38 foot DRV for 5 years, saw every state except North Dakota. We never got black water sensors to work right, despite rinsing and a variety of “treatment” products. You learn a lot as you go along. Best wishes for continued safe and fun travels
2021 2600rb owner: On lighting the stovetop: Seems the lines bleed out after being turned off at the tank and fill with air(?). I turn on all 3 burners full to move some gas down the line and flush out the air(then it lights easily first try). My compass connect(bluetooth) function of my panel seems to be malfunctioning (won't connect to my phone any more). And the switch in my cable/antenna switch& power panel crapped out;so "Antenna"(T.V.) works fine, but I had no "cable" signal from the outside cable connector (in the wet bay).After checking all the cabling myself, I ordered my own replacement from the manufacturer("antennatek").
Trailers are not mentioned to live in full time, it actually mentions that in your booklets. Condensation, thermal cycleing and cooking takes its toll. However, you need to have some skills and stay on top of the wear and tear. "Enjoy the Journey"! Don't sweat the small stuff.
They're definitely not, and we're grateful for how well ours has held up! Getting ours inspected every year helps us stay on top of it but there's always more to learn 😁 thank you!

Thanks for sharing - a very interesting list. We own a GD 2670MK, but for recreational use only. I believe the mold and the finish on your cabinets are all related - moisture. Unlike in a house, running the AC in a camper can actually cause interior condensation, especially on windows. The smaller amount of air space in a camper gets more humid more quickly because every time you open the door you are exchanging a larger percentage of inside/outside air. Humidity from cooking and showering also play an out-sized role in the smaller space of a camper as well. A small or medium size dehumidifier will keep things a lot drier and really help alleviate your issues. Good luck!

Yes..lol! I have been living in mine, × six years...Radio/AMFM,mold galore, leaks...one thing I could tell you , to do is install a fantastic fan....helps with the mold/ moisture issue.Really good air exchange, and sucks all the moisture out with in 5 mins.Another thing is to keep all of your cabinets, ajar or open to let air flow, in/ out of cabinets.Dosn, t allow mold or slows it down.One solution is to put vents/ bigger the better on your cabinet doors,.... to allow temp. air inside( trailor) to flow in the cabinets...combination of perixide/ammonia mix to kill the mold.....

in my five years of full time in a 2600RB, my major issues have been living through sub-freezing weather and the awning motor and LED lights to the trailer. I do not care so much about the exterior lighting but it is a pain that even after two months of replacing the awning motor, it fails yest again (and had it replaced by a professional). i need to replace the toilet bowl gasket but think i will wait until spring to replace it and the pedal mechanism bushing. not comprehensive, but most important thing i have learned: if leaving the trailer unattended for Christmas vacation, de-waterify! Meaning, disconnect water, drain system, turn off hot water tank, drain hot water tank, open low water points! I would leave to go home for two weeks and this is what i do for sub-freezing weather. I learned to put a heating tape on the low water points because the water will freeze up into the junction - this is why i suggest draining the water system and remove the drain plug of the hot water tanks! The hot water tank does not completely empty unless the drain plug is pulled. BTW, living in a 2017 2600RB.
It's nice to hear a fellow 2600RB full-timer's issues! Fingers crossed we haven't had issues with our awning motor yet. But we did have to replace the toilet. That's definitely interesting to hear about how you dealt with freezing temps- we just had our first experience with cold weather in our 2600RB (just put out a video yesterday about our mistakes!)
From an RV tech and 30+years of mobile electronics installation point of view... Jensen is trash, get something better.. and SEALANTS.. start on the roof.. reseal EVERYTHING with fresh Dicor NOW.. even if you don't think it looks like it needs it.. pay attention to your skylights..
Also just reseal ALL of the sidewalls.. including top and sides around the windows.. just do it.. mold is NOT from you being in it.. it's sneaking in a gap somewhere.. pay special attention to the seams on the sides of the slide.. I fixed them all the time when they're brand new before they even get sold...
Grand design is my brand I love it... But every camper is junk and you're beating it up driving down the road.. SEALANTS!

Excellent comments, gary boone. I’m aiming to go full time living in a travel trailer by Summer 2022, and I don’t know where I stand anymore. I see so many bloody videos telling the truth that seem to substantiate your comments-they ALL seem to be made crappily. I’m almost at the point of opting to live in my SuperCrew truck and rough it a bit, vs. pay a full cash up front payment on a trailer that ends up being a rapidly decaying money pit. Really not sure at this point-but thanks for your sound advice, especially about the sealant. Smart!
You guys did a great overview of everything in this video. We’ve been living full time in our Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel for about a year and a half now and have had the same great customer service from Grand Design! We’ve had a dehumidifier from day 1 (and knock on wood, we haven’t had any issues with mold).
That's one of the reasons we went with our camper, we'd heard so many good things about the customer service. Glad to hear you haven't had any mold issues - I think we're going to start running our dehumidifier all the time now!

So amazingly the same as our 2018 Winabego 27BHSS trailer. Same issue with the propane hoses and regulator. Did you know that the stove vent has a damper inside it to close it off? You actually open it on the outside. It’s almost invisible when closed. You know it’s closed when the rv fills up with cooking fumes and the fan is running! We added a slide topper and it was a great decision. No more water seeping in. Highly recommend doing that.
We have the 2019 2250 RK and got a recall notice from Grand Design on the propane regulator in July. Rather than take it to the dealer 30 miles away, I replaced it myself for under $50 with new hoses with level indicators. Other than the usual minor warranty fit and finish fixes, we haven't had any problems. Our shakedown camping trip was in the snow in West Yellowstone, MT and we learned how valuable the fireplace heater is. It's been a great trailer. We repack the wheel bearings every spring and touch up the roof seams with dicor sealant. Best trailer we've had hands down in over 35 years of RV ownership. Thanks for the vid!

Yes, the oven pilot is always an issue. While we don't currently full time yet, I have to work really hard to get the pilot going. Once I get it lit, we leave it on until travel day. Really, how hard would it be to put an electronic spark thing there to make it easier. The only other issue we have had so far is because we have the TV televator, our HDMI cable going to the stereo comes unplugged. So, I have to get a ladder on the outside, prop open the window, and reach down and re-connect. Really, this stuff should be designed much better. Great to see you folks enjoying the lifestyle. Once I retire, we will be traveling full time. And yes, it is normal for things to break. I have learned that I have to fix those items and more. It's all about the journey! Thanks for your video!

Unplug your theater seats and store away the plugs in case you want them for later, now you’ve just increase your available 110v outlets by 4.
We did this on our Imagine 2250RK since we don’t give a flip about the lighted, vibrating, heated cup holders. 😄

We had a new purchase 2017 GD 2150RB - loved it! Traded for a 2020 class C last fall. I don't remember having oven lighting issues... our class C has spark igniters on the burners AND oven - convenient. I think the only issue we had with the GD was loose screws - which is common with ANY camper. I think GD and others are finally moving away from those dark interiors. Our class C has much lighter colored trim and cabinets. Honestly paint is EASY! The only issue is that dark stain will probably take 2 coats of primer and possibly 2 coats of paint to cover! Spread the job out over 3 or 4 sessions! Do the bathroom, then move to the bedroom, etc.

Great info folks. We have the 2018 Grand Caravan 29.7. We bought the Friday build but Grand Design has honoured free re/re of all defects. The stain even flaked off in the bathroom drawers and they were replaced.
Regardless it's our dream retirement home.

We have been in our RV for about 2.5 years and have had a lot of the same issues. The RV life definitely makes you lean to fix things yourself! Great share though it is always nice to see how everyone has their rigs set up and what it has been like for them after living in it for a long period of time! We have had our GD2150 going on 4 years now, its got over 20K miles on it.. I did replace the oven sensor because the oven wouldn't stay lit, if you can lite the pilot and it will stay lit it is ok, yes sometimes its hard.. got almost the 20k on the original tires, there is nothing wrong with them, just got new ones to start the year with.. stabilizer jacks were replaced, one led front light strip, were replaced by GD. I just finished staining and polyurathane on the drawers and doors of the cabinets from scratches over the past 4 years and they look good now... We also have had a couple of issues with mold inside when it sets over a period of non use for like 3 months, yes we use damp rid and watch it, never had that with out other camper! Overall its a good unit and I would recomend them, I still think they need a little work on their cabinets to improve the quality, and I still question the mold issue.. Thanks for your review.. w.

Lighting my oven in a 2500RL Imagine is easy if you count to 15. So turn the oven dial to light and push in and keep pushing in. I start counting from 1 to 15 in seconds. Crank the striker usually lights first try, THEN you keep holding the oven dial in until the pilot light stays lit when releasing the oven dial push.
That's what I tried - even used to set a timer to get the count right 😆🙈 I don't know why I have so much trouble with it!

The propane regulator and hoses you are indicating are for a small single capacity usage. Or just one load on at a time. The green handle units are for multiple capacity usage. Your original unit, like mine was designed with the green handle connectors. The color indicates a larger flow or capacity line feeding the trailers gas line. The black hose connectors indicate a supply hose to let’s say a gas grill and not a trailer gas header with multiple loads, like a refrigerator, stove, water heater and heater that could all be running at the same time. You should recheck the regulator for proper gas flow specs compared to the specs for the original regulator and replace those black connector hoses with green connector hoses.

We've had our GD Imagine 19RLE for a year and a half now, no issues. Definitely a Wednesday camper. LOL We have the same issue with lighting the oven, you're not alone on that one. We love our GDRV.

my wife had the same problem I got a old grill and tuck out the things that lights it up and put it in my stove I dried a hole in by the oven nobe , so now just push it to light it 😁

I also have a 2018 Imagine 18rule model. First trip out I had marker lights go out. The shower also leaked at the bottom of the curtain. The gas line underMeath was not fastened very good. My kitchen sink drain was over tightened so it was leaking. I've had to fix the sink from falling down into the cupboard. I got this unit 2/ 19. I am a fulltimer.

@@lifererouted ,I ended up calling the mfg to get the first few issues taken care of. Got those things fixed at a rep repair shop. The sink drain leaked again after so I put a Fernco coupling in. Any problems since then I fix myself, better way to get it done.

Thanks for being one of the VERY few to give such an in-depth critique of your Grand Design model. I'm gonna soon be in the market for a travel trailer, and Gr Design is one of the manufacturers near the top of my list (the other two being Winnebago and Lance). While Gr Design trailers are aesthetically pleasing and generally have nice floorplans, your critiques aren't the first I've heard about Gr Designs, which worries me. (Note: Since Winnebago purchased Gr Design, and given Winnebago's very solid quality reputation, I'm a bit surprised that the Winnebago's quality control hasn't translated into less problems for Gr. Design models.
I'm still a bit undecided, but at this point, I'm leaning towards the Lance 2465, especially as the weight is under 6000 lbs., and it has a high quality, rock-solid look. Not quite as spacious as a Gr. Design, but there are pros and cons to both. Good luck in your future travels :)

Speaking of super trendy...those throwback videos of no-beard Mike..look at that kid 😁. So real talk, that oven trick is some sort of magic trick. One of us (Robin) gets it every time....the other guy almost burns the camper down trying to light it 😆. Doesn’t look like you’ve had too many issues all things considered given the miles etc y’all have been able to put on your rig.

We have been full-time since Dec 2019 and love it. We have a 2019 Volante 33DB. We are stationary at a full time resort so haven't taken it out on the road yet. We have had issues with the facia in the kitchen, pantry doors and bathroom. It is an easy cosmetic fix. Our AC went out in the summer and that was the worst but it is fixed now after a warranty repair. It is tricky to light the oven, and I rarely use it. Lol. I want to take out the buffet table and couch asap! Not good for full time living. Other than that we love it. Looking forward to the kids graduating in a few years so we can take it on the road full time.

Regarding the finish on the kitchen drawer: they are not made of wood, use paint. Run a test first to see if it works. As a last resort, have anew drawer front made out of wood. I added doors in my bedroom (2019 model) that's when I found out about the cabinets.

Long time RVrs. The pilot light tube is very small and takes some time for the propane to get where it can be lit. Count about one minute. None of the newer made trailers or RVs have good workmanship. Expect trim to come off due to lack of glue and fasteners. Moisture is an issue in a trailer, especially due to bath shower use. Always crack a window and run fan to remove moisture, as well as crack windows when sleeping.
It's my mortal enemy 😂 Even after all these years, I struggle sometimes with it. We really need an update video on our rig, so much has changed!
Great video. We hang a clear plastic shower curtain over our shower door on a separate rod. This keeps the shower door clean.

A couple of things. I put screws in the end caps to hold them on and I also bought a extra sewer hose holder off amazon. And we have yet to be able to light our oven. Its been three years now.

Our converter went out the first trip and it was hard to find too. It was behind the circuit panel. 7 screws were left inside this area which shorted the converter out. Could have started a fire. Not impressed with our Grand design build quality for the 2020 year. They seem to be rushing production bc of the pandemic and forgetting safety. I hope nothing else goes wrong. Oh and all the seals around the slide fell off on out 1st time out and the screen door always sticks. Other than that we love it and the floor plan. 2910bh

2020 2600rb here...some owner mods to these trailers is something a future buyer will have to get used to. The slide is too a nice space to see wasted on the stock offering. LOL My first mod was to put 3/8 X 3/16 foam strip around each of the drawer openings and cabinet doors. Not getting a flood of cold air next to the bed now.

To keep the ends on the bumper I drilled a hole at the top threw the cap and installed hitch pins !

About things getting vibrated loose, have you considered some kind of suspension mod, especially since you are on the road full time? You can go crazy with suspension mods, but I am thinking of something modest, like the Sumo Springs, which I saw on the All About RV's channel. It seems to be an easy DIY job. I may even go for the Roadmaster Comfort Ride system if I feel particularly ambitious. :)

Thanks for the comment! We haven't done any mechanical mods to our rig. We love some of the mods we've seen, but until something happens (or someone pays us to show it off 😅) we won't be doing any. I do really like some of the suspension mods I've seen though.

We have a 2018 Reflection fifth wheel ,we had the same problem with our cabinets drawer and doors, called GD and they sent new front for the drawers and new doors (the new ones are doing the same thing).I don't think these RV are made for full time. Like the video.

I know this is old. But you probably should be checking leaf springs and equalizer on trailer. You have the nose down pretty far on the trailer....and rear hanging pretty low on truck......just look at it closely. It a wear point and at 10k your looking for trouble running nose down on trailer....rear down on truck. Have same truck and took me a few times setting hitch up correctly......might need a set of rear springs in truck or air bags. If it tows ok now......get it level you wont believe the difference. Wow, so surprised so many little issues for a Grand Design! Wow! We had a few things with our Montana when we bought it new 17 yrs ago...and the Montanas were popular like Grand Design...I hear many parts are from China and they are not able to get them.

I would not let Grand Design rest till they gave you some compensation for all those little issues. We have a 2003 Montana 2955 and have never had those issues and we have traveled lots in it...Im sure we put on more then 10k miles in the 10yrs we used it...its still in great shape...We were thinking of replacing ours with a grand design but now Im not to sure...

My Grand Design was definitely built on a Mon morning or Fri at 4. Though I've heard the whole industry has gone downhill the past few years and, knock on wood, no major problems so far (aside from the dealership discovering the AC was dead before I went to pick it up, but that was taken care of before I got it)

Nice rig! I have a Forest river vibe 34xl I full time in and have been very happy with it. I have had to do a few maintenance items and slight upgrades I've done but I expected that with any rv. As far as leaks go I have had great luck using Lexel clear silicone around outside outlets and windows. I use it a lot in construction and it seems to hold up to the elements well. Btw, I have the same shower door and I was skeptical at first but it works very well! I do leave it pulled out to dry a bit after showers 😉

Our cabinets have chipped in a few spots too. Just from stuff bumping it when moving I think 🤷🏻♀️ we also hate the rv oven we only use it as chip storage 🤣
The oven drives me crazy! 🤪 haha. Chip storage?! That makes more sense. We hardly ever use it anyway 🤣
We had similar issues of stuff rattling loose, missing screws. I found that the tires are NOT balanced from the factory. Keeping proper air pressure and getting the tires balanced and even rotated on a schedule greatly reduced the vibration related issues.
We make sure to check the tire pressure before we travel, it's helped us out. Rotating the tires is a great idea, I honestly haven't even thought about that!
Ive had my camper since 2012 and have never once gotten the oven to light. I feel your pain.
I think we need to start a support group for all of us who struggle with it 🤣
I have a 23 bhe and we love the trailer and the floor plan. I've had issues with my radio too. The quality of the Jensen unit is very poor. I'll probably upgrade it if it goes bad again. Mine is a 2021 and I'm sorry I got this one during the pandemic. GD has been responsive but I'm. Having issues with customer service from General RV. GD did send me a new radio after the dealer told me it would be 2 months before they could see me. . Craftsmen are not building these things. The access holes are not square and wood chips are in every space that has a cover on it. My secondary spray port was missing and when I asked GD about it they said they ran out of them so built the trailer without it even though the advertising literature said it was there and I got 2 coiled hoses. I typically buy used and let someone selse go through these issues but we love the Floorplan and rvs are hard to find these days.
They've sent us 3 new stereos, but they've all had issues. We've been fortunate to not have any serious issues so far. Sorry to hear about your luck!

I hate lighting my oven so much in my 2020 GD Reflection that I purchased a toaster oven/air fryer. My oven is a Furrion. I am also full time. So I am with you on the oven complaint.
We've honestly talked about doing that so often! We use the oven so infrequently and it's a source of frustration (for Steph at least 😅) that we've seriously considered just not using it at all. Thanks for watching!

This has saved us money over time, and we have found their are LOTS of people that stay for months at a time. Hey, that corrosion looks like it's a result of dissimilar metals being in contact with one another. It's called galvanic corrosion. It seems like you had something sitting on top on the left side. To shield against that place a rubber pad between the metals that are touching, especially on those brackets I see there. That will prevent it.

We are 7 years in to our Winnebago 30RE. The weak point on most of these larger trailers is the suspension. It is minimum at best. Pay close attention to your wheel bearings, shackles, springs, etc, and make sure you never overload it. We stripped off the original 4400 lb axles, and went with 6000 lb axles. This got us much bigger wheel bearings, which were a weak point. It also got us 12” brakes. We also upgraded to the Mor Ride suspension, and wet bolt kit with thicker shackles. This made a huge difference on the way the trailer tows, and with the added suspension travel, nothing moves inside the trailer, and less falls apart. As far as the cabinet finish goes. They are cheap wood with a spray on finish, which will wear off easily. These campers were meant to be used occasionally and not lived I full time, unless your camper was rated for full time use. Everything will break, as far as appliances, because they were not meant to be used every day.

The best thing you can use on the frame to deal with the rust is POR 15 you can look it up on the internet it was designed and made to paint frames during a restorations on cars and trucks. I run a small loader and build most of my attachments to fit it and paint all of them with it. And it holds up working in the dirt. Easy to put on but not a good shelf life. My suggestion is to buy it by the quart , put it on with a brush and never worry about that spot again.

@@lifereroutedyour welcome. I've found that if I put it into a Masson jar with a air tight lid and keep it in the refrigerator I get a better shelf life. Don't get it on the threads of the lid though you will never get it off again without breaking the jar. If it forms a crust on the top of it just take a screwdriver and bust threw it. Doesn't need to be mixed with anything either.

We use grey water to flush AFTER we empty blackwater, plus additional flushes for both. “Poo-poori” spray helps with the potty stink!

@@lifererouted we full timed in a 38 foot DRV for 5 years, saw every state except North Dakota. We never got black water sensors to work right, despite rinsing and a variety of “treatment” products. You learn a lot as you go along. Best wishes for continued safe and fun travels

2021 2600rb owner: On lighting the stovetop: Seems the lines bleed out after being turned off at the tank and fill with air(?). I turn on all 3 burners full to move some gas down the line and flush out the air(then it lights easily first try). My compass connect(bluetooth) function of my panel seems to be malfunctioning (won't connect to my phone any more). And the switch in my cable/antenna switch& power panel crapped out;so "Antenna"(T.V.) works fine, but I had no "cable" signal from the outside cable connector (in the wet bay).After checking all the cabling myself, I ordered my own replacement from the manufacturer("antennatek").

Trailers are not mentioned to live in full time, it actually mentions that in your booklets. Condensation, thermal cycleing and cooking takes its toll. However, you need to have some skills and stay on top of the wear and tear. "Enjoy the Journey"! Don't sweat the small stuff.
They're definitely not, and we're grateful for how well ours has held up! Getting ours inspected every year helps us stay on top of it but there's always more to learn 😁 thank you!
