Fun fact! The polish dub had a significant mistake in this episode. When Marinette and Evillustrator were on the boat and he communicated with Hawkmoth he said something like "I want Marinette to love me" and Hawkmoth responded with "and I want her miraculous!" Which implied he found out her identity
evillustrator went from one of the nicer akumatized villains who had no intentions of hurting anyone to straight up homicidal in a span of like 10 seconds
I like to believe that akumas strengthen one's resolve and/or amplifies their emotional state which is why so many villains seem to be nonchalant in commiting mass murder.

The sad thing about this episode is that this is the only episode where we get some character development for Sabrina, and it was even just a side plot. In the episodes where she turns into Vanisher and Miraculer, she has less character development then this episode. Here, she realizes that Chloe is using her as a slave and tries to do the same to Marinette (because that's how she thinks friendship works?), but in those other episodes, she's just taking revenge on Chloe and Ladybug because her feelings got hurt. It's just sad that they gave Sabrina character development so early, but decided to do nothing with that for the rest of the 4 seasons. Even when she receives the Dog miraculous, nothing realy happens with her character, besides that she likes football and wants to play against Chloes wishes. Sabrina doesn't go behind Chloes back (Chloe just says "fine"), she doesn't get angry that Chloe controls her, we don't see the reason why Sabrina puts up with Chloes slavery thing, nothing. It would've been great if Sabrina quit being Chloes friend (maybe with Marinettes help) and THAT is what pushed Chloe towards Lila, not just "Hi, welcome to the bench. We both hate Marinette, so let's team up"
This is one of my favorite episodes and the one that also got me interested in the series. Not because of the love square, but because of Nathaniel himself as a character. Evillustrator is one of the best Akuma designs with an amazing power set, he's a very sympathetic villain, he even fought off Hawkmoth's control just so he could romance Marinette. These facts made Nathaniel my favorite character, including him being an introverted artist, which I could relate to. He sadly gets the least amount of screentime of all the classmates, but giving him Marc as a love interest in s2 and more screentime in S4 has helped keep his fanbase afloat.

I do wonder if Hawk Moth started harassing his villains more after this. It seemed like he let Evillustrator have free range for hours, but didn't started getting on his case until his date, the one thing he wanted. Cat Noir at most had a bunch of extras running after him and this was for a minute in only two episodes in the entire series. To say that he receives the same affection as Ladybozo is at least hilarious.
I see that Nathaniel has always been introverted, that helps when you had an embarrassing moment, also imagine if chloe filmed marinettes bedroom and a clip of her obsessing over Adrien and she shows it to the entire class.
3:15 totally relate to this, when I was in school I’d happily do the whole damn assignment if it meant avoiding being the presenter 😂 that changed in university tho, by then that was the better option by far, tho I admit by then I also had an ADHD diagnosis and proper meds for it, which drastically took the difficulty of it away, especially in managing to come up with responses to on the spot questions at the end.
Nathaniel was more than willing to give up his Akuma if Mari had just gone through with the date. He wanted her to come alone and just be with him for one date. He promised not to hurt Chloe if she kept her end of the bargain. She didn't and tried to steal his Akuma! If she just waited, he would've given it to her! Yes, it was creepy the way he asked but akumatized people aren't the most rational in social situations. His normal self wouldn't have worked up the nerve to ask her out in the first place (Or let anyone know that it was his birthday). She didn't even bother talking to him about his crush after the fact, like a decent person. She could've let him down gently while he apologized for getting akumatized (and maybe the love art). Sorry, I know I'm ranting. I went into this show knowing it was a train wreck. I ignore the love whatever-it-is-now-gon, the ships, and the character butchering. I enjoy the puns, the weird animation, and playing "where's Waldo" with Nathaniel.
I don't know about the letting him down part. He never willingly told her, it was the teacher and Hawk Moth that did it, do you really want to rub his face into his secrets getting shoved into the open against his will? I wouldn't. It should be his choice if that talk is had or not, at least in the short term. Also she didn't break the deal, ignoring that she has no guarantee he'll keep his word, but it was Chat getting spotted that ruined it really. Of course I don't think it's ever brought up again so maybe he just forgot or something.
the first episode I ironically ever saw was the first one XD I watched it in french class in 8th grade and was like "this is actually pretty good..." I wouldnt admit it cuz everyone was making fun of it but, I went home and binged
this was a hilarious video, and the formula in the earlier seasons where the fight was broken up was quite good. With the exception of the horrendous consistency with their powers. Ive seen episodes where cat noir has 2 pads on his ring seconds after activating his power, and in other episodes the one who uses their power first somehow lasts longer. these errors are funny to look back on though. I guess both the writers and the characters have more common sense now in the later seasons by making them recharge their powers when they know they're nowhere near close to defeating the villan yet
We should have more explanation on the transformation scene. It take like ten seconds most of the time but in season 5 it take less than a second with wherever they are the room has a bright red/green flash.
This is one of my favourite episodes from Season 1 besides Volpina,Nathaniel is a cool concept whilst not original is still cool,Bit off topic but Marc and Nathaniel remind me of George and Harold (TETOCU fans will get what I mean)
Evillustrator is one of the only Season 1 villains that can’t really be properly improved by being buffed with a Sentimonster. Mostly since he has no good idea for a Sentimonster since he already does all he needs.
I'm sure I've said this before, but the thing I love about marichat is how it's without any awkwardness or one person expressing love wihtout being reciprocated and it's just a pure, platonic relationship.
I feel like you're forgetting that Ladybug's super power is luck. Any time she uses her lucky charm she gains like 9999 luck, allowing her to literally pull off the impossible.
@@Radkeyboard7984 ...because she's lucky. That's the whole point of her power. When she uses her lucky charm, she becomes so lucky that when she throws the ball, it hits and breaks ALL the lights in the room. After the ball broke all the lights, it probably slowed down and stopped bouncing.

I miss the days when the show had a little more personality, but it's also sad bc you wanna see growth by s4 and Adrien/CN doesn't have it consistently yet. They've let him do this gig like it's a fun hobby this whole time bc Marinette is the one who has to shoulder the mental and physical load of actually saving the day while Chat has to defer to her like an underling (bc things really go badly otherwise). This was fine for the first season, maybe even the first quarter of s2...but all the way to the end of s5? Y e e s h. Rip to Nathanael tho, no one follows up with him after this and he's hardly noticed again until Marc comes along 🥲 Sabrina is a strange, yet boring wild card. She has fanatical obsession with Chloe (that her dad supports, jfc) but resents her and will be loud about it when she thinks she has a stronger host to attach to. She serves under Chloe until the plot needs her to have an interest outside of kissing her ass (penalteam). As a character...she really doesn't have any, so honestly? If she never gets a miraculous again, it's not a loss. Very strange for a show to make me feel that way when it's allegedly promoting 'female empowerment' 😬

Since the first season, Ladybozo has had her own fans who do things for her (Jesus, Heroes' Day was a tribute to Ladybug), while Cat Noir... is Cat Noir. Cat Noir at most had a bunch of extras running after him and this was for a minute in only two episodes in the entire series. To say that he receives the same affection as Ladybozo is at least hilarious.
I love Nathaniel so much!! It would be so cool to see an episode focused on the other classmates besides mari and Adrien 😍💛
Thank you! I 100% agree with you!
@@whatever5401 yeah same here 😊 😉
I know this is 2 years ago but I actually agree with you two
I see that Nathaniel has always been introverted, that helps when you had an embarrassing moment, also imagine if chloe filmed marinettes bedroom and a clip of her obsessing over Adrien and she shows it to the entire class.
Yeah that would be interesting 🤔 😏 🙂
@@stefaniarusso indeed
One of my favourite episodes from S1. I love it so much, I was laughing so hard after that Marichat scene
@@nahte123456 yeah I agree ✋ 😊 👍
I feel like season 1 gets way too much hate!!! The attention to detail in the beginning is really fun to watch.
the first episode I ironically ever saw was the first one XD I watched it in french class in 8th grade and was like "this is actually pretty good..." I wouldnt admit it cuz everyone was making fun of it but, I went home and binged
this was a hilarious video, and the formula in the earlier seasons where the fight was broken up was quite good.
F for nath and Marinette
We should have more explanation on the transformation scene. It take like ten seconds most of the time but in season 5 it take less than a second with wherever they are the room has a bright red/green flash.
I'm pretty sure they don't actually do the movements; they just get transformation animations to look cool and maybe pad out some episode time.
The teacher and the questions part.... SO RELATABLE
This is one of my favourite episodes from Season 1 besides Volpina,Nathaniel is a cool concept whilst not original is still cool,Bit off topic but Marc and Nathaniel remind me of George and Harold (TETOCU fans will get what I mean)
A fun fact is that in the Swedish dub Nathaniel and Harold in the movie have the same voice actor
Evillustrator is one of the only Season 1 villains that can’t really be properly improved by being buffed with a Sentimonster. Mostly since he has no good idea for a Sentimonster since he already does all he needs.
For me, this was the birth of my never-ending crush on the creepy ginger emo...
No that does not make sense how didn’t the bouncy ball get out of control
@@Radkeyboard7984 ...because she's lucky. That's the whole point of her power. When she uses her lucky charm, she becomes so lucky that when she throws the ball, it hits and breaks ALL the lights in the room. After the ball broke all the lights, it probably slowed down and stopped bouncing.
I will admit, the drawing powers that Nathaniel got were good. He got to
make anything he wanted just by drawing it.
I'm from Germany and here is The Evillustrator episode 7, while The Bubbler is episode 2.
i love how shiny cat noirs hair is in the early seasons
F’s in the chat for Nathaniel
F’s in the chat for Marinette
I really wish that you did bring up that Evilustrator tried to MURDER our heroes and Chloe with giant saws.
Yeah that would be amusing 😄
This was also the first episode I ever watched! I looked at Chat Noir and my 13 year old brain fell in love
F, HUGE F for nathaniel
Hey @smartypants, I enjoy your content. How do you make video essays. Like where do you find the ongoing clips of miraculous in the background?
I think the same thing all the time
F for nathinal
I like how in the episode, they made a character be a simp-turned-nice-guy super villain
over his crush on the main character
3:47 WHAT IS THAT LAUGH?! LOL
0:55 Cool your jets mate. According to the timeline on the Miraculous Wiki, this episode takes place after Lady Wifi.
It was made before so yes it takes place before but it was made first
This episode was also the first episode for me
Was just bored and Disney channel was on
I was not really watching and then I got caught up in the episodes story.
Wait bubbler was supposed to be next
I remember using this episode for a
Passive, aggressive and the third thing I forgot it was for a leadership class it's been years. I've also been a marichat shipper since I seen the episode.
Wow
@@TheSultan1470 yup it was a short video
@@blueraccoon1088 Interesting. So you used a clip of the episode or?
@@TheSultan1470 evillistrator and others but I'll need to update them since I could upload them
I love this episode how Mari makes fun of chat when he’s talking and at the end adrien asks what Mari thought of chat
I honestly hate that. Because it proves how much of a insensitive jerk Marinette can be.
There's a lot of times where both ladybug and catnoir transform in public
F for Nathaniel
1:00 which is why some people believe that mlb was just made up by nathan using kids in his class, interesting theory but i don't quite like it very much
I do hope we get some more Nathaniel in season 5...the last episode he properly got some development in was Reverser. Sure he's appeared in episodes in season 4, but he was kinda overshadowed by Marc. I do love Marc and their relationship, but I wish we'd see more of him shining on his own (I wish he got his chance to shine as a hero on his own with a debut episode instead of part of PenalTeam)
Everyday I think about how popular Nath could've been if the writers gave him some development and a more significant role in the story
@@whatever5401 yeah that would be wonderful 😊 😀 🙂
Evillustrator was the most 3 dimensional akumatized villain.
He's not a villain anymore
Agreed
@@giacomoaluotto4053 ooh I wish he was a villain 😏
same here with the different formula episodes getting me into watching miraculous! the first episode i watched was antibug. . . it was an okay episode but it was that scene right at the end where lb and cn look at each other that got me hooked! ! ! !
Law suit for drawing a comic? People and events inspire comics and movies that's why at the end of the credits it says "all characters are fictional no one in this movie living or dead are related to or resemble them in anyway shape or form"
4:55 4.56 Tikki loooves to transform
I wonder how Nath was able to face Marinette in class after this whole mess.
He's so brave lol...like if I were him I would have switched universes and went to live with aliens or smth
@@aarssassin ooh that's very cool 😎 👌 😄
I would honestly love to see you do this kind of thing for Trollhunters and wizards (maybe even 3below)
I have yet to see an episode by episode review of tales of Arcadia and it’d be really cool

We didn´t even get a SINGLE SCENE, that Nathalie was in! What the hell?

I think lady wifi was after this one
I really like this episode, it is a fun time, not the best (Stormy Weather) but still not the worst (Pixelator)
Hm, interesting opinions and points.
Where did those daily videos come from?
Welcome to the new movie called
Super Nathan August 26th 2023
Well is he actually super
In France this episode is épisode 7 and lady wifi is episode 4 so that's why lady wifi existe in this episode 😅 idk why America doesn't have the same order for the episode than France.
A parasitic slug... Honestly, now that you say that. I can see it.
This was also my first episode
Good old times…. 🐞🐾✨💖💕
Y e e s h.
Rip to Nathanael tho, no one follows up with him after this and he's hardly noticed again until Marc comes along 🥲
Sabrina is a strange, yet boring wild card.
Am I the only one who misses season 1
