I feel like Caine’s line of mixing up a human with an NPC is not hinting that one of the characters is an NPC, but that he’s killed a human before believing they were an NPC
Tbh when Caine was like "who knows what could happen", I just interpreted it as his usual weirdness and didn't really think it was hinting at anything.
@@Ventriloquism I really hope it does hint at something, seems very weird to leave out such a huge plot points, NPCs being able to become self aware and sentient and potentially Cain killing a human.

@@chaosgamer016_5 coz I believe he did kill someone in the past and learned from that, and has been careful since then, putting the abstacted ones to that cellar as his way to remind himself or something. Or probably he's collecting the abstracted ones, hoping to learn to fix them in the future.
You never know, he might think he's the main character and think everyone else is just a plaything for him Either that or his cooping mechanism for being stuck in the Digital circus is letting his torment out on others...
@@PoopyHeadGamingno, I think he acts more like Gwenpool. If I remember correctly, Gwenpool knew she was in a comic book when she first got to the Marvel universe and she killed people because she didn’t see any consequences as she didn’t see them as real.
Considering Jax is listed as one of the only characters who deserves to be trapped in circus, I say he is a hacker. It fits with him having keys to everyone's bedroom and how he was able to steal the key from Ragatha without her noticing.
The Fudge claiming Jax as the "Master of Unlocking Things" made me think maybe Jax knew something about the Circus that no one else knows or has access to. Does Kinger know anything about what Jax is doing? Possibly. He just can't call him out on it in the open.
Commenting here so people see this more. If Jax is a hacker, would he be the only human in the digital circus to accept getting his real life taken? because he may not be able to leave on his will, and since he got where the audience was, he probably got into the digital circus' engine before and maybe learned to enable transparent objects to be seen by his client side.
The same thing also happened when he laughed at Pomni for getting spooked by his jumpscare, so it’s not linked to his breath, it’s just something that happens on occasion when whatever he’s expressing is more intense than his usual demeanour ^^
I think Jax just has what people call "Toonforce". Everyone in the Circus have their own powers or gimmicks (Ragatha is immune to most damage since she's a doll, Gangle's mood depends on her mask, Zooble has their interchangeable pieces, Kinger has his floating eyes and hands and Pomni has a rubber-like body) So since Jax is meant to be a Bugs Bunny-like character it makes sense for him to have all of these cartoon character powers, for example, during the first episode Jax probably got Kaufmo's keys out of nowhere, this is how this type of character works, they can do whatever they want if it's convenient. If Jax truly is so powerful he wouldn't have been tied up so easily during the third episode. If this Theory happens to be true it will mean Jax isn't some sort of hacker, virus or NPC, just a lucky player who got some really OP powers.
Make me wonder if Goosework’s statement about him “deserving to be in the circus the most” can be taken in by a more literal meaning. He belongs there because he’s from there.
huh, didn't expect to find you here, also I've gotten into this channel though the "What if They were in smash?" stuff, so uh, maybeee start doing that again if ya can, Sorry if there's a reason for why it stopped that I never bothered to listen to, so you can ignore this if that's the case, but if not, well, it'd be nice to see that series return, :)
Third option, Jax was part of the development team and he's the reason people get stuck there. Fourth option, Jax is a copy of a person, not fully human, but still considered as a player character.
I think the reason Jax became obsessed with keys is he probably is looking for the admin quarters so he can reconfigure the game to his liking...he actually wants to use the tech to live his fantasy but can't and maybe his five letter name is Ghaxs
I prefer the theory of Jax being a hacker, as this can be applied to his character, leading to his interesting and possible degenerate schemes of storylines for his character's impact on the show.
More proof that he may be a hacker is the fact that for some reason he has spare keys to everybody's room. This is weird because why would multiple keys be produced when the room is just for one person? and where would he have got these keys from?
goose did say that he deserves to be there more than anyone else, and since he's only 22, him making this 90s video game wouldn't make any sense. him being some jerky hacker who fucked around and found out makes a lot of sense for how he acts.
@@jestphoenix Remember when he said "Supposedly Kinger has been here the longest" What if Jax has been there the longest and the reason we don't see his room is because it would be a dead giveaway to his age when he showed up in the circus.
@RobbyTheRogue the thing is that kinger is not only the oldest, but also has a master's degree in computer science. they're hinting pretty heavily that he is the "Abel" of the circus and was directly involved in the development. i believe jax has been in the circus for a good few years at this point, but definitely not longer than kinger. him being in there the longest seems like something he'd take the opportunity to brag about and hold over the others' heads at every opportunity. he's got more access to the circus than our other characters, but that lends moreso to the hacker theory (he's literally cheating the system) than lying about something that would make another person look superior to him.
@@jestphoenix Unless he's been there long enough to figure out how to get around and would be self conscious about telling others he's been stuck there longer then them.
Jax broke the 4th wall a view times, so he know's there is an audience watching. 🤔 He may seem like an a*hole, but he at least looked a little bad sad for ONE second, before they started Kaufmo's funeral, even if he didn't attend this. So he may have cared for Kaufmo. I'm excited when we get the episode focused on him and maybe he will open up a little bit.
mabey but mabey he was just envious jealous of the humans ? or he realy was sad and has a very good reason masterplan against the whole sytem needing to push them intentionally away to fly under the raidar of the higher ups???? to eventioally help them free them?
@@janaarndt8628 I mean, atl there is a place for them to return to if they can _hypothetically_ return back home. But for him if he's an NPC, that's his end, and the adventure he would be from is likely long time ago forgotten and deleted. So maybe he's being a nihilist jerk because, yes, he DOES despise the humans for the most part.
My theory is that Jax will be revealed as an npc in episode 5. So gooseworks has revealed that evil versions of the characters will be a part of episode 5, and I think that it’s an adventure that Cain has done before. My idea is that the original Jax went on that adventure hence why he has a door, but I think that the npc evil Jax replaced or tricked the original Jax, and that Caine deleted him. That’s why he has a door but I don’t think he can actually open it
I think this actually works out. In Ep.2 Ragatha/Zooble (I forgot which one) comforts Pomni after Gumigoo is poofed saying "I heard Caine likes to reuse NPC's sometimes." We might just get good Jax back. Could be true? Could be false. Who knows?
Ok, as we've seen, Gummygoo and the other episode 2 NPCs had their models loaded outside the map, like our IRL NPCs. Which means that if Jax is an NPC then we should have his model loaded somewhere in the circus, so, if Jax managed to manipulate/hack that empty room, I think this gives us 3 possibilities for Jax's room: 1- A portal leading to Jax's original world where he escaped from to act like another human in the Digital Circus. 2- There is nothing behind the door, just the inmense void that covers the entire Circus. 3- His room is just a small locker with his model inside, always loading, letting Jax stay in the Circus just like that.
I’m just gonna throw out an absolutely wild thought here … what if Bubble is a human? But Caine was so convinced that they were an NPC, that he accidentally placed NPC restrictions on Bubble, and this is what caused Caine so much trauma about sometimes being unable to differentiate between Humans and NPCs. He digitally paralyzed a Human.
So, I did a little deep dive on Gooseworx's tumblr recently, and someone asked this exact question. Her response was "Bubble is an NPC." I can see where you're coming from, but I don't think Bubble was human ever
@@Em_Cee669 ah I see, thanks for the info! I’m still very suspicious of Bubble … I don’t know if this was a complete coincidence or not but … in Episode 3, we encounter God’s Angel, and are told it’s only one of them, and in Episode 1, Bubble eats the Angel Cake that Caine was offering to Pomni … like I said, I don’t know if this was simply a mere coincidence or if there was actually a deeper meaning to it, but I’m pretty sure I’m forever suspicious of Bubble now XD
Fun fact. In a deleted scene Jax was upset that there were more women than men in the circus. And if you noticed that all the people Jax bullies are women. Other than calling Kinger a nutcase he never bullied him. Edit: I also forgot to mention that Gooseworx said that Jax loves harming women.
That’s not entirely true,, he did throw that bowling ball at kinger and he goes out of his way to mess with every single person in the circus, which most of them are female so 😭 Gangle is his main victim because she gives him the reaction he wants, I feel like you can’t really get a reaction out of Kinger in part because he isn’t all there mentally
Love that design for jack cut, and i wonder if the way each persons breath changes has a reason? Like, why does kinger glow? Seems like it would actually be annoying for him, cause he can only be sane when he’s in the dark.
I think when Jax stops breathing all his fake hair falls out revealing his shiney wrinkley skin underneath! :o We saw it in some of the previous eastereggs so it makes sense
so where something to think, if the adventure is made for zooble, i have one question, HOW THE HECK WOULD SHE PASS THE HALL OF THE DAMNED ALONE? she needs to hold breath to escape hell right? but if jax saying is true, then zooble would stop right? did caine just made a impossible challange for zooble?
The hacker theory is interesting considering we recently learned that Kinger learned computer science for 7 years… and in a previous episode Jax says “since when are you so good with computers?” As if he is not aware of Kinger’s tech experience
Two things, firstly, I think deep in the box is better, secondly addressing an imaginary audience is a thing I (and a few people I know who did theater) do as a bit in real life, Jax acts like he did theater if you know what I mean, so there is that. I think there’s something up with him but I don’t know if that’s hinting to it, I don’t remember if any other npcs address the audience but I don’t think they do
Something up with him? He's been desperately trying to hide his bald spot!!! If you look in the background art you can see him constantly trying to hide it with purple glue and fake hair
Goose's biggest inspirations (besides I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream), is Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure. Jax is heavily inspired by Andy, who she managed to get Michael Kovach to voice just by asking for an impression of the character. That's why he acts like he's in theatre. As for the NPC part, I feel like it's unlikely they have that much awareness, unless he's an NPC that found his way into The Void, and knows that there is more out there.
I really don't believe Jax is an NPC, I theorized that he's a playtester who knows everything about the Digital Circus which let's him do all the suspicious stuffs
There is actually a more reasonable explanation for this- coping! He torments others due to his severe balding. ^^;; In recent episodes you can see him balding more often in the backgrounds as well.
Something else I wanna add, in episode one after the adventure, Jax says, “So what? I can still be hungry.” Kinger points out the error in Jax’s logic, but this could show that Jax’s AI and programming functions differently than the players
This has actually been confirmed! He canonically has a severe balding issue, so he frequently covers himself in purple glue and fake fur to compensate. :o When he holds his breath all of it pops right off so it is a bit traumatizing for him!
FUN FACT : 1st, Jax by Gooseworx herself describes him as a troubled person and that is what makes him Jax, 2nd it was also said that he’s scared of / hates corn cause he’s reminded of either working or living on a farm, 3rd He also got to Choose his own name and gangle which wouldn’t make sense if he’s an NPC ,because that means he didn’t have a name before the adventure, and also merch can be deceiving or misleading with designs .
I think Jax is an NPC BECAUSE he breaks the 4th wall. I think he was an Original NPC from when the game was first made and was intended for children and talks to the audience like how a point and click adventure game character wood. And he does these things subconsciously because its part of his programing. He also mentioned in episode 1 that they'd have to do the song all over again.
@@greygaston1263 Like he's the equivalent to Swipper from Dora the Explorer. But now he has many more people to play with. When he couldn't mess with people in the second episode he was angry that he couldn't hurt people. I think him joining the Human in the Circus may be whats causing people to extract.
Wealth, Fame, Power. Jax, the King of the Digital Circus, attained everything the reality had to offer. The words he uttered just before he left drove his friends to scavenge. "The exit? If you want it, you can have it! Find it! I left the entrance to the real world there!" And so, his friends started to scavenge in pursuit of freedom! The reality has truly entered a great era!
What if he's made to torture them along with being trapped in a dangerous game? Pomni says "He just wants to see me suffer." And who likes to see them suffer? Jax...
@@bahesb2419 Honestly, I'm not sure about that. When Pomni talks about Caine, it's always questions ABOUT Caine to the others. Indicating she doesn't know much about Caine's motives. But "He wants me to suffer" is said in a very certain way. Also notice how she talks very certain about deserving to be in hell. AND all these lines are said in the dark. My theory? Just as Kinger, Pomni has clearer memories in the dark. She knows who wants her to suffer and why she deserves to be in hell. And if this theory is correct then Pomni has reasons not to tell Kinger about what she knows. Or she meant Caine.
He is the only character who is symmetrical Edit: I think Jax's nihilistic antics are his coping mechanism and have fully embraced a 'consequence free' attitude as some would in a normal video game.
Imagen he's keeping the exit in his room hidden so theyre all stuck in the game sense if the game ends or gets turned off he stops existing sense he's not a person
@@CartoonUniverse Gooseworx also said that Jax is the one who deserves the most to be trapped in the circus and is 22 years old, Caine is ageless because he is an AI
Caine is not ageless because he is an AI, he is just an AI that was made without reference to age. Gumigoo is an NP and has an age. You can also deserve to be trapped somewhere while being an NPC, that doesn't really prove anything.
I think the manakin isn't a blank slate meant to be filled when a new "player" enters the world. In the new episode 3 at 1:03 you can see a manakin in the right hiding behind a wall, and then it slips away. I think that's an actual person but they're not involved with this crew for some reason. Maybe cause they don't have a face and mouth so they can't communicate. Maybe their personality is mimicking other people or something and that's why their character is like a blank slate.
I remember in one post Gooseworx said that "Jax deserves to be in the circus". This could go 2 possible ways: - Jax is an npc and there would be real danger if an npc gains sapience and somehow effects the circus and the real world. - Jax is a human who was a bully or sociopath in the real world and the circus keeps his dangerous tendencies contained.
Something I want to bring up real quick is that I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream only has 5 humans being tortured whereas digital circus has 6. Not guaranteed, but depending on how closely related the two are it could mean someone in the digital circus crew is an imposter.
I subscribe to the 'Jax was a child when he arrived in the circus' theory. Gooseworks said he 'Deserves to be there' also described him as 'troubled' so I think him being in the circus is not a punishment but the better alternative for him maybe because of a 'troubled' home life.I don't think I've ever seen him swear in this entire series which is he is a child from a more strict home it would make sense. When he saw Cofmo abstracted he ran to Gangle and Kinger and kicked them into the basement level where the Gloink Queen was as Cofmo was running around the circus. Maybe he abandoned Ragatha because he thought she'd run and be better able to look after herself, I also think Jax only has been shown being really mean to the others when they aren't in immediate peril. He makes references to kids books/movies (Agustus Gloop from Wily Wonka) and Luigi's mansion in the recent episode. And lastly I don't think he's taken a breath in the series so maybe his current appearance(maybe being tall) is the result of him always holding his breath, him always keeping his teeth clenched might be a result of him forcing himself to do so.
What if he is a hacker and the reason he has his more ‘meta’ abilities is because the way he jacked into the game allowed him to retain more of himself. Maybe hes only stuck there because jerryrigging the game in such a way made it so if he tries to hack his way out, it might short circuit the discount hardware hes using.
another point to add to this theory is goosework said Jax is the only one who deserves to be there! What if that just means he belongs there as in he is from there?
I feel more inclined to believe that Jax would be a hacker, instead of an npc. It would make even more sense because in the pilot he 'supposedly' has keys to every room, which could imply that he might be a hacker
Honestly I had this idea that not only is Jax an NPC, but there is a *real* Jax, who maybe got trapped in a prior adventure related to the players facing NPC reflections of themselves. Ragatha mentions how Caine likes to reuse things at the end of episode 2, so if enough new players have shown up between that adventure and Pomni's arrival, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that he might just decide to rerun that adventure since there's only a few players who actually went on it the first time.
If Jax was an NPC, then how would he know who Augustus Gloop is? Goose has mentioned that characters can remember parts of their lives and Jax clearly does when he said "we're one tanker away from getting Augustus Glooped!" He can only know about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory if he was a human.
Well,i don't think Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a REALLY important thing one would remember,so this begins the question how does he know about it? My theory is that if he IS an NPC,he has a similar acces to information like caine(we saw caine connect to the internet all the way back in the pilot)
@@TheRealAxolotlAnimates while caine shows pomni the tent(his eyes turn blue and the subtitles say something about the internet, you can also hear old internet noises)
these 'rebellious/nonconformist' NPC theories are fun, but why is it that "he deliberately makes himself seem rude, and is ABLE to either teach the players the potential of the circus or force them to play the adventures (unlike Caine)" not so popular? this has nothing to do with me wanting to see him "actually good", we can list every move he makes and discuss it. examples from 1. : Even though he spoke as if he was bored, as was his character, he cared about the intro sequence. Instead of telling Pomni about all the negative aspects of the circus or existential crises, he jokingly brought her back to her senses when Ragata was too hard on her while explaining the Circus. In Cosmo's room, he borrowed the ball back as if nothing was wrong so that Cosmo wouldn't get excited/angry (this shows that Jax recently had an interaction that resulted in him giving Cosmo a 'gift' while the others didn't notice Cosmo's concerns) and ran straight to the center of the circus (where the adventure and the hole are); without seeing Ragata being attacked, contrary to what the video says. he pushed them into the hole, further into the adventure, so that the others wouldn't have to see or even fight Cosmo. I also forgot to mention that Jax breaks Gangle's mask at the beginning of each adventure so that she can "be herself, so that she doesn't feel pressured to keep up her 'grin mask' in front of others". Despite Kinger and Gangle's talk about "eating is unnecessary", he sets an example for every player, especially Pomni, that "award food" is something that brings happiness, hope and appetite! if anyone wants, I can talk about other episodes too. BONUS: Caine has bright skin but dark RED top & BLACK bottom. Jax has pale skin but light RED bottom & PURPLE top. I originally thought he was meant to be the absolute opposite of ragatta since I first saw him (still do) but I wouldn't be surprised if Jax turned out to be related to Abel (from a popular theory).
I dont think hes an NPC That feels REAAAALLY obvious, Too obvious even, but also like.. How the bloody hell would an NPC break the 4th wall and know where is an audience? Goomigoo didn't do that after HE became self aware. Hes broken the 4th wall multiple times and gotten weird reactions from the other characters proving its not just a silly joke but will be important later. Him being a hacker would explain that in my opinion.
What if the npc rule that cane has wasn't always there? What If near the beginning of the digital circus, cane was fine with npc's. The "player count" was so small, that it was easy to keep track of who was a player and who was a npc. But as the "player count" grew in size, cane decided to make a "no npc" rule and started deleting npc's from the circus. The problem was that he couldn't tell what was a npc or player. And this lack of telling the difference made him accidentally try to delete a player causing the first ever abstraction. Cane was so distraught for doing that to a player, that he stop deleting people unaware he missed one npc (jax). Cane, now making sure he never repeat that mistake again. Deletes EVERYBODY new on sight that doesn't appear in the circus itself which means cane will delete all new people that come out of his adventure portals.
The series deduction revolves around people being trapped in a digital world where they take on new forms, that resemble NPC-like entities, but they aren’t NPCs. Jax, in particular, has an overdaring and self-involving personality, which sets him apart from a typical NPC. His behavior and interactions suggest that he retains his human consciousness and individuality, even though he is stuck in a virtual environment. So, Jax is not an NPC but rather a human who has been transformed into his digital persona.
In ep 2, when zooble had finished the funeral for kaufmo, jax showed a sad expression but quickly changed into an angry expression, this makes me think that jax may be a human since he did feel bad for kaufmo, he just doesn't like to show his true emotions
Ya know, there’s also a bit of a theme, here with the characters and the archetypes of gamers and gamer behavior types Jax is the Troll/Hacker-The gamer who’s cheats and plays dirty and shows his true self and ideals with an avatar. Pomni the first time player/Non-Gamer-The one who’s completely out of her depth and gets the most frustrated by everyone’s way of playing the game. Zooble the Jaded Casual-The gamer who prefers to skip events and other players to play the game to simply play and experiment. Gangle The shy casual follower- The gamer who plays a lot but is quite unskilled and avoids other players too. Ragatha The rule follower-Similar to the First timer, but got most of the gist of gaming and the rules of the game and can’t stand Hackers/Trolls Kinger The founder/The veteran-The one gamer who has the most experience when it comes to gaming and has developed a few games, but the players and developers demands and actions has driven him to a point of madness.
I feel jax is a hacker/creator The reason we can’t see his room is because it wasn’t developed. In video games whenever you have a house sometimes you never get to see the inside. I think this means jax is simply the player and whenever all the others go in their room he gets off the game.
Imagine him actually being able to get off the game while everyone sleeps hinting at why his room has the void behind it in the enamel pin merch. It would make sense why Jax acts the way he does. He can just log off whenever he wants but needs to be strategic on when he does. (Like at night when people are asleep.) So he acts like how sociopath would when playing videogames because he veiws the other PLAYERS as NPC's too. (Technically anyone but yourself in a game is an NPC. From Jax's perspective he is the player and say Ragatha, Gangle, Pomni, Kinger, as well as Zooble aren't him so they are considered NPC's in his eyes. He might not think their real as much as the NPC's Caine makes are. If anyone knew this of course, it would entirely change how they veiw Jax entirely.
But we see the blank player character in episode 1. They scream at Pomni when she walks in on them taking a bath. I don't think an NPC was mistaken for a person, I think a person got mistaken for an NPC. I believe someone got wiped or corrupted. (Data Drained?)
Another argument for Jax being either a hacker or NPC is he has "keys for everywhere", which a player wouldn't have access to... unless they got into the Circus programming. I woulda said he's more of a troll before episode 3 came out, though that 4th wall break was pretty suspicious. But then there are moments Jax shows concern, like when abstracted Kaufmo was out and about after he ran off (likely expected Pomni and Ragatha to be right behind him after they were supposed to close the door on Kaufmo). Either way this definitely makes Jax an intriguing character even if he isn't the most likeable...
I feel like the way Jax acts is too immersive, he clearly has a coping mechanism of disassociating and it just feels weird to think an ai like that would be able to pass as fully human for that long, I don’t know it just makes less sense the more I think about it.
After watching the filmmakers theory video on it, I thought that Jax was an NPC but I would love if he was a hacker because that’s the personality he seems to have
There's a theory, IDK where from, that Jax is the real AI that is tormenting the cast, since Caine doesn't intend to torment them, and is really trying to keep them entertained and sane. Jax is intentions are to cause chaos and harm to the cast, and he's made that clear repeatedly, and if he is an AI or AI driven NPC then it could be him and not Caine that the creators have been referring to as the tormenting AI
Imagine the plot twist of Jax being programmed as a HACKER HUMAN NPC, maybe he wanted humans to have more company but messed hence why Jax got away so easily from Cain and that's why Cain is scared af of NPCs escaping, Cain already knows first hand how dangerous it is 😰
Another term for “Jax” is “supplanter,” meaning someone or something that takes the place of another, usually on purpose, through force, scheming, or strategy (google overview). He could have taken a human’s place.
The first thing that tipped me off to Jax being an NPX was in the first episode when he asked Caine if Pomni was another one of "his humans or another NPC".
I’d like to point out that in glitch’s “digital circus but smol” video when all the characters are turinging into figurines when Jax is the last one he says “Oh there all gone? I didn’t even get to tell them-“ then he gets cut off
i like to think jax is an NPC but not the type others think, jax is a player two someone to compete against like Blue from Pokemon or Shadow from Sonic, most rivals npc are made to be jerks and rude never letting others get better of them so it feels good when you beat them plus it makes sense for Cain to turn on an NPC from a player to play with if they were the only one there and ask for company
I think Jax is just one of those kinds of players who sees it as well, a game. And doesn't care about any of the consequences, as long as he finds it entertaining. Usually involving other people's suffering. He's the type of player to abuse a glitch to piss off other players and laugh at their reactions.
I stand firm in my belief that he's a child. He's Peter Pan and the circus is his Neverland. Coincidently, Tale Foundry's recently put out a video discussing the cruelty of Peter Pan that kind of accentuates this idea. The quote they chose "It was his cleverness that interested him, and not the saving of human life. Also he was fond of variety, and the sport that engrossed him one moment would suddenly cease to engage him, so there was always the possibility that the next time you fell he would let you go." sounds exactly like Jax among other things in the video. Like I said in the earlier poll, Jax being from a newer generation that grew up with more complex games would make him accustomed to messing around with and abusing npcs and if he's a child he probably wouldn't be mature enough to be considerate of people who are essentially complex ai. It would also put him in the perfect position to realize this about the circus in the first place because he'd be the only one who hadn't grown or matured when entering the game and when that doesn't happen like it's supposed to, because the system doesn't allow it, he'd realize something is wrong, whereas the others had already grown and it would take many more years to notice for them.
I thought the theory already have been debunked because gooseworx already said he is the most deserving man to be in the circus and he refrenced alot of old timies things
I think being a hacker makes sense, hes able to break the fourth all, defy physics, have access to thinks he's not supposed too, etc. He was also genuinely sad about kafmo which makes him seem more human. Theres aslo theories that they all are associated with the game. If they were then being a hacker would make since for the way he acts. Not to mention goose made a comment saying they were all humans souls trapped
I mean, Jax being a secret NPC would actually work really well with the line from Gooseworx that was something like "Jax is the one who deserves to be in the Digital Circus the most." I mean if he's an NPC that's literally true.
Not only do I believe Jax is a hacker, I believe hes not actually trapped in the circus, he can leave at any time through his door. I also have a small sub theory that his fourth wall breaks is because he's livestreaming everything to an audience in the real world, and he's addressing the viewers. It may also explain why he constantly goes for the more chaotic option; it makes for an entertaining show, and Jax needs the validation of his viewers, people who actually matter to him.
This theory definitely explains a LOT of what we've seen so far, and I think it's pretty logical to assume that Jax might not be from the circus. The only thing that throws off the NPC theory is one of Gooseworx’s recent Tumblr posts, where they confirmed that the main cast (except Caine and Bubble) are all 'trapped human souls.' I find the wording to be a bit strange, but at the very least, it confirms Jax is human.
If Jax isn’t an npc he’s at least a game tester. One of those people who choose the bad endings just to see what happens and test the limits of what’s possible

Considering Jax is listed as one of the only characters who deserves to be trapped in circus, I say he is a hacker. It fits with him having keys to everyone's bedroom and how he was able to steal the key from Ragatha without her noticing.

He is also listed as one of the only characters who suffers from severe balding!
The Fudge claiming Jax as the "Master of Unlocking Things" made me think maybe Jax knew something about the Circus that no one else knows or has access to. Does Kinger know anything about what Jax is doing? Possibly. He just can't call him out on it in the open.
Remember jax's said to ragatha that he has a key to everyone's room
nah i think hes a troll because Jax is that type of person to join a lobby just to mess with people and leave
Jax is a killer type of gamer.

@@CartoonUniverse UwU
That's probably cuz he was distressed, not cuz he was holding his breath
The same thing also happened when he laughed at Pomni for getting spooked by his jumpscare, so it’s not linked to his breath, it’s just something that happens on occasion when whatever he’s expressing is more intense than his usual demeanour ^^
but when you laugh you can suffocate
This is my headcannon now
So he stayed tied up because it was way funnier then if he was able to escape

Third option, Jax was part of the development team and he's the reason people get stuck there.
Fourth option, Jax is a copy of a person, not fully human, but still considered as a player character.
Fifth Option? He is balding and in denial....

That's the determination of a severely bald rabbit for you!
goose did say that he deserves to be there more than anyone else, and since he's only 22, him making this 90s video game wouldn't make any sense. him being some jerky hacker who fucked around and found out makes a lot of sense for how he acts.
@@jestphoenix Remember when he said "Supposedly Kinger has been here the longest"
What if Jax has been there the longest and the reason we don't see his room is because it would be a dead giveaway to his age when he showed up in the circus.

Episode 6 focuses on Jax
Same but I do hate Jax but this makes me more curious about him
hopefully he will be more honest about his balding in the future episodes!
That’s why he has a door but I don’t think he can actually open it
Woah that’s actually a really good theory!
Idk, I think Jax secretly being bald is more likely. All the clues point to it
THAT'S ACTUALLY GENIUS!!
I think this actually works out. In Ep.2 Ragatha/Zooble (I forgot which one) comforts Pomni after Gumigoo is poofed saying "I heard Caine likes to reuse NPC's sometimes."
We might just get good Jax back. Could be true? Could be false. Who knows?
@@lookawilduser Honestly having a "real" Jax and a fake Jax is an interesting concept.
Ok, as we've seen, Gummygoo and the other episode 2 NPCs had their models loaded outside the map, like our IRL NPCs.
Which means that if Jax is an NPC then we should have his model loaded somewhere in the circus, so, if Jax managed to manipulate/hack that empty room, I think this gives us 3 possibilities for Jax's room:
1- A portal leading to Jax's original world where he escaped from to act like another human in the Digital Circus.
2- There is nothing behind the door, just the inmense void that covers the entire Circus.
3- His room is just a small locker with his model inside, always loading, letting Jax stay in the Circus just like that.
4- A room filled with remedies for balding?
I’m just gonna throw out an absolutely wild thought here … what if Bubble is a human? But Caine was so convinced that they were an NPC, that he accidentally placed NPC restrictions on Bubble, and this is what caused Caine so much trauma about sometimes being unable to differentiate between Humans and NPCs. He digitally paralyzed a Human.
Better being a bubble than bald. Jax's balding issue has really been getting out of hand
So, I did a little deep dive on Gooseworx's tumblr recently, and someone asked this exact question. Her response was "Bubble is an NPC."

Fun fact. In a deleted scene Jax was upset that there were more women than men in the circus. And if you noticed that all the people Jax bullies are women. Other than calling Kinger a nutcase he never bullied him.

The hacker theory is interesting considering we recently learned that Kinger learned computer science for 7 years… and in a previous episode Jax says “since when are you so good with computers?” As if he is not aware of Kinger’s tech experience
Jax could only wish his bald spot could be hacked away....
I see him more as a hacker that uses torment and hacking to entertain him and prevent him from abstracting
I think balding for years has just drove him insane tbh
I think Jax has an embarrassing secret, and he finds holding his breath embarrassing as well. He would loose his power if he showed people.
This has actually been confirmed! He canonically has a severe balding issue, so he frequently covers himself in purple glue and fake fur to compensate. :o When he holds his breath all of it pops right off so it is a bit traumatizing for him!
FUN FACT :
1st, Jax by Gooseworx herself describes him as a troubled person and that is what makes him Jax, 2nd it was also said that he’s scared of / hates corn cause he’s reminded of either working or living on a farm, 3rd He also got to Choose his own name and gangle which wouldn’t make sense if he’s an NPC ,because that means he didn’t have a name before the adventure, and also merch can be deceiving or misleading with designs .
Would make a pretty neat backstory.

Ok I thought this theory was dumb but 2:23 actually makes it make a lot of sense and could give reason to why jax acts the way he does
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jax caused a glitch that corrupted Caine and the game itself, pretty much starting everything.

Do you all think caine and jax truly can see us or do they just act like there is an audience watching them?

In the new episode 3 at 1:03 you can see a manakin in the right hiding behind a wall, and then it slips away. I think that's an actual person but they're not involved with this crew for some reason. Lucifer if he was bald... ^^;; it is a nice theory but Jax is just dealing with some balding issues, resulting in outward aggression.
Maybe Judas too
I remember in one post Gooseworx said that "Jax deserves to be in the circus". This could go 2 possible ways:
- Jax is an npc and there would be real danger if an npc gains sapience and somehow effects the circus and the real world.
- Jax is a human who was a bully or sociopath in the real world and the circus keeps his dangerous tendencies contained.
He wanted to escape his real life balding so badly he went to virtual reality.... only for his balding to follow him there too.
If he’s an NPC, why didn’t the other players recognize him from the adventure? And how did he get his image onto the blank door?
There were MANY different humans in the circus than just the few we know...
Just look at all the abstracted people caine trapped in the pilot...
He just gives off total hacker vibes.
He really do.
another point to add to this theory is goosework said Jax is the only one who deserves to be there! What if that just means he belongs there as in he is from there?
I just noticed that Jax's pupils are square and his eyes are half a circle, while, everyone else is eyes and pupils have circles.
As soon as I saw the whole Jax refusing to hold his breath, my first thought was "more evidence that he's an NPC"
My theory is that if he IS an NPC,he has a similar acces to information like caine(we saw caine connect to the internet all the way back in the pilot)

these 'rebellious/nonconformist' NPC theories are fun, but why is it that "he deliberately makes himself seem rude, and is ABLE to either teach the players the potential of the circus or force them to play the adventures (unlike Caine)" not so popular?
this has nothing to do with me wanting to see him "actually good", we can list every move he makes and discuss it.
examples from 1. :
Even though he spoke as if he was bored, as was his character, he cared about the intro sequence.
Instead of telling Pomni about all the negative aspects of the circus or existential crises, he jokingly brought her back to her senses when Ragata was too hard on her while explaining the Circus.
In Cosmo's room, he borrowed the ball back as if nothing was wrong so that Cosmo wouldn't get excited/angry (this shows that Jax recently had an interaction that resulted in him giving Cosmo a 'gift' while the others didn't notice Cosmo's concerns)
and ran straight to the center of the circus (where the adventure and the hole are); without seeing Ragata being attacked, contrary to what the video says.
he pushed them into the hole, further into the adventure, so that the others wouldn't have to see or even fight Cosmo.
BONUS:
Caine has bright skin but dark RED top & BLACK bottom.
Jax has pale skin but light RED bottom & PURPLE top.
I originally thought he was meant to be the absolute opposite of ragatta since I first saw him (still do) but I wouldn't be surprised if Jax turned out to be related to Abel (from a popular theory).
He is called kaufmo not COSMO
@@ThePr0_PL I remembered it starts with a "K" but tough remembering wrong.
However Jax can still hungry as he did in the pilot so I think the hacker Theory is more accurate.

That feels REAAAALLY obvious, Too obvious even, but also like..
TBH, while I would originally set on the whole NOC theory, the hacker one seems equally interesting. 😅
NPC? ❌
Hacker? ✔️
In ep 2, when zooble had finished the funeral for kaufmo, jax showed a sad expression but quickly changed into an angry expression, this makes me think that jax may be a human since he did feel bad for kaufmo, he just doesn't like to show his true emotions
Ya know, there’s also a bit of a theme, here with the characters and the archetypes of gamers and gamer behavior types
Jax is the Troll/Hacker-The gamer who’s cheats and plays dirty and shows his true self and ideals with an avatar.
Ragatha The rule follower-Similar to the First timer, but got most of the gist of gaming and the rules of the game and can’t stand Hackers/Trolls
Kinger The founder/The veteran-The one gamer who has the most experience when it comes to gaming and has developed a few games, but the players and developers demands and actions has driven him to a point of madness.
I bet he’s some teenage edgelord.
I feel jax is a hacker/creator
The reason we can’t see his room is because it wasn’t developed.
(Like at night when people are asleep.)
So he acts like how sociopath would when playing videogames because he veiws the other PLAYERS as NPC's too.
For me Jax makes the most sense to be an NPC but I kinda want ragatha to be the NPC it would be so sad
I think Jax is a troll
4:14 We already have an answer for what happens when he doesn’t breathe RIGHT HERE
While i respect your opinion I don't agree with it. Jax isn't so much a hacker as he's just a player that's testing the limits of the game
Where do you have the "tormenting ai"part from?
I am just curious

Imagine the plot twist of Jax being programmed as a HACKER HUMAN NPC, maybe he wanted humans to have more company but messed hence why Jax got away so easily from Cain and that's why Cain is scared af of NPCs escaping, Cain already knows first hand how dangerous it is 😰
His head also has chicken physics
Another term for “Jax” is “supplanter,” meaning someone or something that takes the place of another, usually on purpose, through force, scheming, or strategy (google overview). He could have taken a human’s place.
Yooo nice Tadc sona!!
Also amazing! Ending video animation:)!!
be sure to check out the whole trailer on our channel!
but that’s just a theory, A GAME THEORY! thank you for watching :3
The first thing that tipped me off to Jax being an NPX was in the first episode when he asked Caine if Pomni was another one of "his humans or another NPC".
Jax isn’t forced to be there, he’s someone on the other side playing with them, and is aware streaming it
The fact that Jax have access to all the keys from the circus makes me believe that he can be a hacker indeed.
0:28 *Phone Buzz*
There's too much evidence to tell us otherwise.
There’s no evidence that tells us otherwise
Another thing I just thought of was the three letter name for the fake rivals in New arcade games
It feels like more like He's a game Tester from the way he acts and
He prob thinks that everyone else is an NPC, if he is real himself.
Or he is a hacker troll player
That’s what I think
Plot twist... it's all a game and Jax is an irl gameplayer controlling an avatar
Jax is the Agent Smith of the digital circus
Yk when the spirit (kingers episode) has he met kinger before as he says something about his wife or is it because they was talking about it
Deep in the box
