Wise Card - Spending money overseas can come with its fair share of annoying fees and complications. Luckily, someone created Wise, which means you can transfer money between currencies, send money to friends with foreign accounts and spend money without those pesky transaction fees!

World Nomads Insurance - Getting insured for traveling long-term and going surfing can be tricky. My go-to is World Nomads insurance; they make it super easy to keep extending my policy, and I have had no trouble with payouts when things have gone wrong!

Found your channel only several days ago and already binge watched every video haha. Love the travel vlog from a surfer perspective! Thanks for the great vids man, yewwww!!
Hey Stefan! Thanks so much and really glad you have enjoyed the content so far! Sorry for the slow reply to your message also, been on a huge travel binge over the past month which I can't wait to share! :)
Brazil is the one "surf country" that I actually know nothing about... plenty of other countries I have never been to yet still know when they get swell and from where, what conditions are good, and some spots... but Brazil? nope. my first experience with Brazilians was in Costa Rica like 30 years ago... 5 dudes all jump out of a little compact car, all wearing different color banana hammocks like they stopped at the walmart before surfing and got the variety pack, and they all paddled out together and they all sat as close together to each other as you can get without bumping rails and proceeded to hassle the shit out of each other... it was pretty funny to watch, at least they kept it all to themselves...
great video. if you have been surfing for more than 15-20 years you know there is SO much more to traveling for surf than JUST surfing.... its a education in the world.... especially 20-30 years ago, travelling to surf you would see things and places the tourists would NEVER see or experience....
Great video, I've spent time inside of a few favelas in Colombia, which was an eye opening experience!
awesome episode, thanks for sharing
Cool you got to surf Arpoador, it gets really good on a big SE swell, breaks on a slab about 50 meters beyond the point. I grew up surfing there. Hope the locals didn't hassle too much ;)
Wow, yeah its such a wicked place to surf!! Super busy but no not much hassle for the amount of people hahah!!
Hi, do you know if there are surf schools?, I'm a beginner almost intermediate surfer, but need to improve a lot.
In what seasson did you traveled ?? What month ? Thanks nice video 😅
Thank you!! And this was in November last year :))
Awesome vid
Thank you!!
how can I get ahold of Daniel lol? Im going to surf and meet a girl i know there. Im from Florida and planning to visit in jan/Feb next year. Cool video btw
Hey mate!! Thank you. Epic, I can't remember the exact name of the tour, but search Rio Favela walking tours. There are a few that do the same but in vehicles, but only a few that take you on foot I think :)
No I meant the local Rio guy.....did you just meet him from one of those tours your talking about?
Your title says "Surfing in Rio", the video last for 16 mins and there is less than a minute of surfing. Only one spot. You might consider changing the title.
if you actually surfed, or had been surfing for more than 10 years you would know that travelling is more than just surfing.
the gov of brazil needs to do a better job taking care of their people... but I guess that is every gov these days....they have their own agenda and it doesn't include taking care of us.
I dont get this obsession people from other countries have with poverty, visiting these dangerous places haha... Im frmo brazil and NEVER did, and never will visit even rio de janeiro, not to mention the favelas.
Hey Alison! I wouldn't say it's an obsession as such, but more an interest into how people live around the world. But yes some people find such places less interesting, whereas I do! And I found Rio a great place :)
Just admit you're too full of prejudice and cowardice to travel there
Por favor não venha para o Rio.
For me it’s the uniqueness of these dense communities built on the sides of steep mountains. Trust me I grew up just as poor as many of the people in the favelas.
