I've been sitting around about it for a couple days and I think I finally realized the reason why the song is called "Tone It Down" The opponent that were fighting against is not a "Faker Annie" like most people think she is. The character's name is Legacy Annie, a design based on Annie's older Week 3 reskin mod. The monster form she takes is a scrapped transformation for The Liquid. The song name comes from the fact that the design used is a little too unnerving so Atsuover had to "Tone It Down", giving us the blue Liquid monster we know now.
I absolutely love how fake everything looks in the first half. The fake buildings, the posters with nothing on them, and the painted on windows... it gives this whole vibe that you are not in control here, THEY are.
I love how right away something feels… off. Like Annie’s color pallete is kinda pale and washed out, the buildings in the background are fake, and the song itself just has a weird vibe. Then she goes full monster mode and it all kinda makes sense
honestly, this song is my favorite from the mod, the weirdly nostalgic style for lil rascal and the fakeness of her stage in the first half really interested me. and then it hit me with big rascal and i could help but fall in love. her color scheme, the too wide grin, *the teeth* everything was perfect. And i wished she was real so i could hug her.

The first time i played this song i tought "Huh were fighting against the OG Annie Design, Neat!" until i saw the background and INMEDIATLY knew what was going on. This became my fav song from the mod just because of that and the metallic madness reference at 0:41
