okay, I will definitely read Bright Young Women and Nothing to See Here, I mean expedite both on my TBR (somehow). And I'm massively intrigued by Dungeon Crawler etc. Sounds like a lot of fuuuuuun! I love your cats btw and cat commentary :D
Quite a few danmei have silly moments but most of the ones being published in english recently are quite dark at times. Amazing stories but checking trigger warnings is a must. I highly recommend Heaven Official's Blessing or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation!
The mercy of God's sounds super interesting, adding it to my tbr. Also I checked out the warm of hands of ghosts from the library to give it another go. Besides that tho I haven't been reading much lately again....work just blah, makes me not want to do much once I get home.
We studied Don Quixote in High School as part as Spanish Literature and our two teachers took us to watch the series instead of reading it. I had 3 editions at home full of foot notes and side notes that made almost impossible to deal with... in the end, it took me 2 decades and reading a translation to finally be able to finish it. And I really enjoyed it! It's surreal, funny and full of humanity. I'm glad you liked it
Hour-long wrapup?? 🤩Also WHAT I had no idea that TXF novel existed and I will now be telling all my friends (proselytizing on Tumblr) and using your quotes as further endorsement ("in safe hands, which is to say not in Chris Carter's hands..." Absolutely correct)
Ooh, I hope you love it!! I have loved Claudia Gray since she wrote Star Wars: Bloodline, and just absolutely nailed it. And since then she's nailed Jane Austen murder mysteries as well. She's so great. And apparently she was an original fan back in the day on the message boards in the 90s!
If you're interested in other long classics, I can highly recommend both Middlemarch and Vanity Fair. They are each 700+ pages, and while quite different they are both catnip. I read both when going through a classic lit phase, and should definitely re-read them.
I am the opposite of interested in long classics 😂 Anyway, I've read both of those. I ended up liking them both, but it was like pulling teeth to get through them. Even The Count of Monte Cristo, which I love, was hard for me.
I wasn't as enthusiastic about the first Veronica Speedwell as you, but I should probably re-read it while I wait for the next book to come out. I figured out the deep dark secret of her background very early in the book, maybe that's why I only thought it was a 3.5 star book? Might rate it higher if I reread it. From interviews, I think Loveless is pretty heavily based on Oseman's own realisation about being ace, they have said that it's the most autobiographical of their books. As someone who didn't figure out that I was ace until my mid-30s, after having been in a relationship since I was 21, I kind of envy all these young people who are given a lot more examples in books, comics, TV and movies of ace and/or aro characters. I absolutely felt that there had to be something wrong with me, since I very much loved my husband, but anything to do with sex just sort of bored me.
I so want to read Bright Young Women 🔪 I read Magic Kingdom years and years ago and remember preferring the sequel, but I wouldn't be surprised if neither have aged well 😂
Well, I only l got 20% in and it's not that it hasn't aged well (although that 80% could have contained some stuff) more like it was just dull for a book about a guy going to a magic kingdom. No sense of magic.
The history of people trying to film Don Quixote is hilarious. No one has actually managed it. Even that Adam Driver movie, which is about someone filming a Don Quixote, took Terry Gilliam decades to make.
Totally random comment. My thermos maybe the same type as yours. I need to get some stickers 😂 Shakespeare, sports teams, etc. Whatever fits ✌️😃 Also, I plan on using an Audible Credit on Don Quixote.
I've been trying to get to Jenn Lyons' new book but it keeps becoming available on Libby when I'm in the middle of three other books. I need it so bad, I loved A Chorus of Dragons.
It's pretty different from COD in terms of plot and theme, but you can see her same sensibilities (queerness, an interest in gender, etc.). I really liked it! Hope you get to it soon.
Call this a lightning and thunder wrap-up with the way some reviews are over in a flash and others pleasantly rumble on
I love that! Might have to use it.
Yes! You finally started Veronica Speedwell!!! I love them so much (a few further in aren’t perfect, but the first 5 are!).
I remembered you said this and have set my expectations accordingly :)

I verrry much look forward to your thoughts on all three!
Yes Perihelion relief 😅

Good to know! And I already have both of those last two on my TBR :)
BYW was so good!
I loooooved Bright Young Women and I died when you mentioned a memorable quote and I thought of the EXACT SAME THING 😂
I so hope that part was true to life. That would give me joy.

Understandable! Sometimes you just need to veg.

Ooh that sounds like so much work, but I can see high school students really responding to this bonkers book. There's a series? Like, TV?
@@theanswerisbooks There is a 5 episode series of 1 hour long each, from 1992 and a cartoon from 1976. Students in Spain thanked the gods for them 😂
Ooh, I might have to reread Don Quixote with the new translation.
Well, it's not exactly "new" haha. I think it was published in like 2003 or something! But yes, it's very good.

TIL the etymology of decimate... And Ochomate. 😂
TIL what TIL means! haha. Also, I regret not saying "Octimate" instead.

I definitely envy the young people! The confusion and cognitive dissonance was very real!

🔪 so many titles for me to check out!
I'm interested in don quiote I know there's an Adam drive type movie about it

Get the George Guidall version! That's the translation I listened to.
@@theanswerisbooks SOLD! That man is favorite narrator!

🔪 Great video as always, I hope you enjoyed Farscape
I always do!

I like your Argonath posters. I can’t tell-are they backwards?
EMILY. Why are you always right.
