I was 13 when this song came out in '65-'66 and I owned the FIRST Frank Zappa release BUT it was the FIRST ROCK & ROLL DOUBLE LP IN MUSIC HISTORY. Frank beat Bob Dylan's Blonde On Blonde by a month. Howz dat fer music trivia Lionel Espikin? Which brings me to part 2 & that I have known The Nighthawks for almost as long. I was living outside of Washington D.C. while my family was stationed @ Andrews AFB. At the time Glen Echo Park would have outdoor concerts from time to time and I was hip to WHFS Bethesda, Maryland's FIRST underground FM music station in the entire area. WHFS started at 9pm-6am ONLY but they did finally changed the format to 24 hour / 56 mins of commercial free kickass rock legions at that timeframe. WHFS ran an ad announcing The Nighthawks were playing and believe me, they had a huge following that blew me away with Jim Thackery (lead guitar) Mark Wenner (blues harp / lead vocals) with a veteran rhythm section, Jan Zukowski on bass and Pete Ragusa on drums. They allowed me to meet the band at the venue to unload and setup, always participated selling their swag at many shows and the members would graciously autograph items sold during the breaks between sets. I'd get backstage or some venues had dressing rooms, free dinner and free drinks for myself and of course help out loading everything nice, safe & neat before heading to the next town/city. They have a great connection with I Drink Alone George Thorogood and toured together when possible.
