    American steam whistles are always super loud, throaty and imposing sounding, but these British ones almost remind me of the extremely varied calls of birds.

    I don't like Bullied whistles, but the other types are music to my ears. My favourite type of steam engine whistle is the Swindon Whistle, of God's Wonderful Railway status. I love GWR steamies, like Foxcote Manor, best of all.

    Thanks for the video! As an American, I always wondered why the European steam engines seemed to have high pitched whistles compared to ours. Would it be due to a lack of grade crossings compared to many of our railroads?

      It's generally that we tend to use the bell whistle much more often than a chime whistle, a bell whistle creates a much higher pitch!
