I've been enjoying the Elmsley since its release. It has a unique sound, and is easy to dial in. I like that it's not another version of some other Amp. It deserves more exposure.
This AMP is one of the main reasons for me keeping the Helix. I was about to jump ship before this was released. But now it's the only amp I'm using. I actually prefer it to my old real amps. :)
It’s now the only amp I use in the HX Stomp - it’s the foundation of my sound. So glad to be freed from the whole “does it sound exactly like the original” thing. It’s just a great sounding amp.
Line 6 has abandoned so many platforms it's really hard to imagine the Helix can go on much longer. I may buy in on the next generation of Line 6 modeler, and I am sorry I missed out on Helix, but I'm betting there aren't too many more tricks left in this 7-8 year old device. That being said, I am happy to see Paul Hindmarsh is still with the company after Yamaha bought them out. Love his playing and his accent. Don't mess with good marketing Yamaha.
The most DSP intensive amp takes up roughly half of one of the two CPUs, and it's probably not the one you'd think it is. These things are just like small computers, the limitation isn't some thing where they have limited building blocks. It's like saying videogames are running out of visual FX tricks, that's never gonna happen :p If they decide to rework the helix architecture they might just do it on the same hardware. Might. But maybe they'll feel like more DSP is needed and then they'll get a product out with more headroom in that regard.
Line 6 sounds are ever in the backside of good sounds on stage! Quality is as bad as a Behringer! Real power is totally missing! Buy better a Boss, Fender, Marshall or Mesa amp!

The Elmsley has very quickly become my favorite amp in the Helix. It's absolute magic, which I guess fits the name 🤘
