    In Big Ben’s defense, he was also the youngest QB to win a Super Bowl at 23 and without his shoestring tackle in the AFC championship, you could argue the Steelers wouldn’t have even made it to Super Bowl XL in the first place.

      They definitely don't make it if he doesn't tackle Nick Harper, Ben's receivers also dropped 2 passes in this game, one of which would have been a TD. Still though it was not a good game at all

Assuming he did win it he would have 2 rings, 3 super bowl appearances, an MVP, 5 straight AFCCGs at home and a 50 passing TD season( I know the league is way more offensive/pass happy now but still). This is also without mentioning that the Steelers had a top 3 defense by DVOA 4 of those 5 seasons and the other season they were still 9th. Mahomes defenses have never been better than 14th in DVOA

    Dilfer being a starting Super Bowl winning QB just emphasizes how dominant the 2000 Ravens defense was. Keep in mind:
    - Dilfer only passed for more than 200 yards three times the entire season, and threw for under 100 yards three times also, including the final two games of the regular season.
    - During one stretch, the Ravens went FIVE games without scoring a touchdown and actually won two of them.
    - Dilfer wasn't even the opening week starter. That would be the amazing Tony Banks, who lost his job in Week 8.

    • @keenannash2947
      @keenannash2947 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      One thing that shouldn't be overlooked about the 2000 Ravens offense is the run game. Jamal Lewis was a very good RB and helped the team control the ball and give the defense enough time off the field to be fresh and dominate when they were on the field.

    Brandon I don't know what you're talking about. Joe Namath's victory didn't "force a merger" between the two leagues. The merger was already in place. It had been in place for 3 years prior to Super Bowl 3, and it was already finalized that the next year would be the last year before the two leagues actually completely merged into one league. All that win did was validate the AFL as an equal league in terms of talent, a big thing. But the merger was already in place.

    I'm a Broncos Homer too, but you can't forget to include Elway in SB XXXII. Pretty sure he was less than 200 yards. He did nothing in the 2nd Quarter when TD was out.

    Spot on, although I would include Roger Staubach's Super Bowl VI performance. 12-19, 119 yards and 2 touchdowns to Lance Alworth and Mike Ditka. Two Hall of Famers at he end of their illustrious careers. And yes, Namath is nothing but smoke and mirrors. He always has been a complete media creation.

      How on Earth was Staubach's performance one of the worst? A 115+ rating in the 70s -- or any era, for that matter -- is elite.

    • @bjchit
      @bjchit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Jets were so over the Colts that Namath didn’t even attempt a pass after the ten minute mark of the third quarter. He was great, he was also horribly injury prone.

      Roger Staubach's performance in Super Bowl 6 wasn't even bad, let alone one of the worst. 12/19 is a 63% completion percentage which in the 70's was well above average, had two touchdowns no turnovers and Dallas won 24-3. The Cowboys had 48 rushing plays for 252 yards so if you're argument is Staubach's performance had little impact on the game, sure, but he still was methodical and didn't play bad at all. How is that one of the worst?

    When you said they held the greatest show on turf, you are absolutely right. They literally held the receivers all the way down the field on every play. They know you cant call holding on every player on every play. Plus they had tapes of the rams game plan. Only winning by three was pretty pathetic.

    I remember watching SB XL and it being such a big deal to me. I was a kid growing up across from Detroit so my family took me to some of the events that were promoting it. it was the first time I remember being excited for a SB and I wanted the Seahawks to win so bad. that game, and in particular that blown call on his rushing TD, made me hate Big Ben for the rest of my life lmao

    When Denver beat New England in that super bowl run, I was so impressed by Manning's incredibly accurate ducks throughout that game. I still have no idea how he completed those passes with so little velocity.
    Seattle sure shit the bed in their first super bowl. They love to blame the refs, but they flat out sucked and beat themselves. When I rewatched the game a few years later, I was shocked at how bad that game really was. One of the worst of all time, other than Randle El's bomb.
    And finally, I haven't actually watched a super bowl since that awful New England/LA snoozefest. That was a game to forget.
