He’s not talking about A$AP or Kanye in a bad way 😂 he was talking about other rappers in South Korea that were talking about BTS not being artists because they were idols. & how that them wearing skinny jeans & skirts is “not” hip hop. He was basically telling those haters “are A$AP & Kanye not considered hip hop? you think you’re better?”
And the other thing too that may not be obvious is, how can these underground and/or mainstream Korean rappers think they have the sole definition & rules of rapping & hiphop culture, when this genre was adopted by Korea from the west? A lot of modern Korean music is an adoption from the west, which obviously includes K-jazz, rock/metal, western classical, hiphop, R&B, pop etc. Some ballad structures too. The S.Korean idol music industry itself, aka KPop, is also western, specifically from the US. Most of these music genres I mentioned practically were invented in the US. Western Classical was of course started in Europe around 5 centuries ago. Korean Trot is not Korean at all either, that too came from the US. The reason for this is that Korea itself started listening & playing westernized music & constructs/theory since at least the 19th century, which had that not happened, there would be no KPop & subsequently no BTS today. Even 99.9% of the musical instruments being used are western, such as keyboards/pianos, guitar, drumsets & a lot of wind instruments. It is not just Korea, but many Asian countries such as Japan & the Philippines which also had already been adopting western music for at least a century. In fact, a lot of the world has become western. In some unfortunate way, this comes from the butterfly effect of western conquests & colonization of this planet. Also, there is no modern Korean music industry without electricity & electronics, as invented by the west. That includes microphones, television, radios, synthesizers & music recording studios. And the funny thing is some people are hating on BTS for becoming too westernized & singing in English, when in fact the very music in all of KPop is already western as I already mentioned. Sure, Korean may have put their own spin on it, but no matter what, it is still western at its core, base & foundation. The very concept & word of "Idol" in KPop is from the US in the first place. The very first modern music idols in history included Frank Sinatra when he debuted in the 1940's. The whole point is that these underground Korean rappers had no open mind & probably were not following the hiphop trends from the US, they only focused on what they thought was considered "hiphop" from older definitions. What differentiates BTS mostly from both underground Korean hiphop & especially KPop/idol is that they reference their artistic inspirations, such as the aforementioned Kanye, & other western artists such as J.Cole, J.Legend, J.Bieber, Usher, Drake, etc. I could keep going but this is getting longer, heh. 06/29/24
he’s not dissing asap or kanye😭 he actually looks up to them, he’s basically saying: ‘how can you come for me for the way i dress because it’s not hip hop enough, when hip hop legends themselves are wearing the same stuff (ye and asap), are u (the korean rap industry) more hip hop than them?’
Misunderstanding guys. RM is calling out the old- Korean underground rappers whom went after RM and SUGA for leaving the underground scene and becoming Idols. This song was recorded long before BTS had much of a Western audience. It was all about the Korean scene.
Sorry to everyone that wanted a video that had subs included. For the people wanting to make sure Joke has the subs included, I gave them a link to a video that does. Us mods will make sure that the guys always have subs going forward and if there isn't any videos with them, we will provide them links to doolset's translations💜
🐶Joonie's lyricism is chef's kiss🖼 And the way us non-Korean speakers even misses out on his double and tripple entendres, cultural references and lingustic doubles between languages (this goes for his lyricism in general).
This was when he was getting dissed for moving from underground rap to idol and he was questioning his identity as an artist. RAP, Hip Hop, Pop? In the end he will do what he wants. Also, the guys drop f-bombs a lot in group and individual projects.😅
I am very loyal.. haha..🐶🐶🐶🐶 Just a short summary.. This during the time when Rm's underground hip hop friends dished out on him saying he wasn't creating any real, raw and hardcore music. There were an interview where the interviewer called them girls for wearing makeup and that they had completely ditched their roots. RM released a mix tape as an answer for it. Lovely reaction.. Friday nights are the best💜
Hey guys thanks for the reaction. RM recently came out with a new album called "Right Place, Wrong Person" and it has been named as one of "The Best Albums of 2024 So Far" by Rolling Stone Magazine. I hope you guys react to it one of these days. RM is a genius!
🐶 He was attacked by "friends" he'd created alongside of ( even was almost publically ambushed once ) He responded as a master lyricist with mad skills would Similar message to BTS , you got to be yourself , but colored with a sense of being betrayed
The BTS rap line got a lot of backlash for being idol rappers, especially Namjoon because he was involved in the underground rap scene in Seoul already. So a lot of hip hop artists said he was turning his back on hip hop for fame and wealth, which was NOT the case.
Yoongi was also in the underground scene but more so in Daegu than Seoul. And JHope obviously wasn’t a rapper before BTS. So really it was just Yoongi and Namjoon getting unfair blowback for being in an idol group.
He’s just rapping about self-empowerment and being authentic in a world that tries to mold everyone into one-size-fits-all mentality. Also, his so-called friends in the underground hip-hop community dissed him for becoming an Idol. Instead of supporting him, they turned on him.
RM is a lyrical genius who can rhyme seamlessly in Korean and English and convey his sentiments and messages perfectly. When it comes to BTS', The Deadly Trio ( a loving nickname I gave for the rap line), they are a prime example, where their pen is mightier than their sword. Considering what BTS and RM had to put up with back then, I think RM was being pretty polite here. That's my just opinion.😄🐕
lol this RM, his roots. In Yet To Come they say they’re going back to “one” in the new chapter & being more themselves. He has done just that in his new album “Right Place, Wrong Person” but this time with some jazz thrown in. Rolling Stone named it one of the best albums of 2024 & others have said one of the best albums to come out of SK. Hope your mod goes beyond Lost & Come Back To Me for selections because there are others much better. 💜
OMG! I wish there were more days for the BTS reaction, haha. But this is getting exciting! Can't wait for you to hear the Cyphers and a whole lot more 💜 Edit for the dog emoji lol 🐶
I absolutely LOVE this song. The “limited edition” line is pure gold, and if “MFs keep MFing all day” isn’t the universal unvarnished truth I don’t know what is. “Groin” from his recent album reminded me of this early “Rap Monster” persona of RM and has a similar “I don’t need to conform to your standards” message.
Love how excited you got about this one. And your reaction to the lyrics and this different side of RM. I always watch to the end. My favorite code word is orange soda. It's just hilarious. 🐕🐾
I think it is importance to remember when this song was released. This was released in 2015. Two years after BTS’s debut & they (RM & Suga especially) got hate for leaving the underground scene. This was on RM’s mixtape RM. He actually made it on a western chart but idk what chart.
I have to say... my last 2 days was wathing your videos and i wanna congrats you and thank you because you've make me so happy. You 3 are such a beautiful persons, and is super fun watching you 3 share your thoughts about the song and the performances and the boys. I'm 47 mom of 3 and an Army since 2017. The boys are like sons to me and earing others apreciatte and like their work is priceless. RM in this song is talking about others korfean rappers, same of them old friend fo Namjoon. From the same mixtape you really need to watch "Awakening" where he talk directaly to the persons that suposed to be his friend and turn the back to him. For me, i'll continue watching your videos because it's always a moment of fun and hapiness in my day. Stay safe, kisses from Portugal. 💜💜
RM's Joke is the best desplay maybe of his rap. I hope you get the one with lyrics in English. Lol. It's amazing. And it's easier to interpret what he's saying when you have it with the MV. I hope when you do Suga the Trilogy will be all at once!! I really think the Trilogy he has should be watched in one sitting. Or in one week! You need more BTs days 😂
hahahahha, thank you guys. I cant wait until you check out "Joke" by RM, Monster by RM, (Ddaeng, ughh, outro tear, and chypers 1 - 4) from rappline. Enjoy guys😍
🐶🐕🦮 (didn't know which dog to put haha) Love your reactions to BTS and how you try to break down your understanding of the song. You guys are very entertaining as you do your thing. Always Do You! 💜
I'm so glad you guys got to this. Such an awesome song. RM the man!!!!🫶 such a shame there are versions out there with English subs and you were not sent those. Sad but still love you guys. DO YOU 😂. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 🐕
Nice guys! I was curious what content you were going to react next. Love that you’re doing solos Yes! Please do some B-sides with live reactions. BTS live is where the magic happens
Love this song. Love the fact that it was probably inspired by Pharrell Williams (who I also love) Aerosol Can (another song I would recommend). Using the metronome for the beat is so on point. Love it to bits💜
It's really helpful to understand BTS history in the K-Pop industry from when they started in 2013. At that time, they never dreamed that they would have international and western fans., so know they are talking to the Korean haters and fans. RM, SUGA, J-Hope, etc, were very angry for quite awhile by their mistreatment. You'll hear this anger in many of their earlier songs: RM: :Joke," then SUGA - Agust-D; The BTS Rapline: Cypher 1,2,3,4, BTS: IDOL, etc. Over the years they obviously proved themselves and became less angry and this is reflected in their music: Love Yourself - for example. So when reviewing, try to keep this timeline and evolution in mind and realize it's not directed at Western Hip-Hop or Rap artists.
man i hope you reacts to some bsides next cause you didn't see even 1% of bts lyricism it's all in the bsides and they are amazing rm and suga are a lot more aggressive and they don't hold back on their solo albums esp suga doesn't hold back with the swearing and talking shot but as rm he also has a lot emotional songs with really raw and personal lyrics
🐕 🐕 🐕 DO YOU. I love the raplines duality. RM, Mr. leader, ain’t so prim and proper. He is the one on instagram the most, public opinion and saving face, as leader, he had to care about it the most. But in his solo work: he claps back hard at haters and at societal expectations that we all get sucked into. In his solo work he spews his anger and self reflections to the adversity, the plagirism accusations, and other rappers calling them sell outs. Love yourself. Overall, that’s BTS message, that’s RM’s message. But also, looking down on the haters because he knows he’s better than them for knowing the secret: love yourself. The others are still lemmings. He is the best!!!! 🐕
NO BREAKS AND NO PAY!!! WHAT IS THIS?!! 🤣I'm kidding! EVAAANNNN, don't come at me sir hahah, blame Vivs 🤣JKJKJK. She's been a busy lady and schooling it up (Congratulations on graduating Vivs) ALSOOOOO 🐶🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩
🐶Many have mentioned this but RM & Yoongi both got lots of hate for going from underground rap to being an Idol. RM & Yoongi literally got ambushed at an event by the rappers there for their interview, they both had come their to promote BTS first album "2 Cool 4 Skool". Bang Pd (the Ceo of Big Hit name and their boss. Bang is his last name. "Pd" is a commonly used term in Korea it denotes "producer-director" as a title or term of respect even) had arranged the interview for the guys but didn't know the other rappers were planning on verbally attacking them. You saw a clip of it during the Guide reaction, of the rapper calling them girls, but there was a lot more said to them during that & Bang Pd was pissed too. This was RM's response to those people along with other rappers in the community who he once considered friends. BTS as a group was also getting a lot of hate at that time because their label was small & didn't have much money to promote them or influence. I think RM & Suga felt the need to respond, show what they could really do cuz the hate was getting outta hand at that point when he wrote most of these songs back in 2013/2014. His first mixtape "RM" is venting all that out. I laughed when you guys talked about the cursing it's not uncommon in their solo projects but they also curse in rapline songs or group songs on BTS albums too especially the early albums 2013-2015 ish just not as much as solo projects lol.
I love all the messages/meanings all their solo songs have! Even their group songs, they just inspire all the time!! I also enjoy y’all’s reactions as well!! 🐕😂🐕😂🐕😂
I would love to do the solo BTS journey and some amazing B sides in between. Their B sides are as good as the others. It is a shame to miss B sides. Then the mixtapes are gems. I´ve been Army only since 2020 and it still amazes me the amount of music they have produced.
As everyone has said, he's not dissing those guys.. He's calling out those who gave them allot of hate and even saying they sold out by becoming an "idol"
Love it! I love when you guys do deeper dives into bts and the members (most of their deeper songs is less mainstream/ for video but more for B-sides) but I personally like their b-sides more because it is much deeper also if you see a bts video without lyrics you can just search “ (whatever the music video name is) and then english subtitle) for example “ RM Do you- english subtitle) (just write the music video name and then “english subtitle) and it has videos showing the music video with english subtitles added by fans or other people (I find it easier than pulling up the lyrics later etc) you should also check out RM’s song ‘awakening” music video and write the word “English subtitle” next to it on the search bar. RM’s first mixtape have a lot of hidden gems and some of them he was very emotional and mad because people criticizing him for leaving the underground hiphop scene and to become a “kpop group” when usually in kpop groups many think they are puppets and majority don’t write songs/ or have a say in the song/ music video but when bts were signed from their label, they made sure they take control of all the lyrics and music videos so it does not apply to them
Guys I think you should do a RM week for evaan 😂 I want them react to joke with lyrics tho plssss plsssss 💜 by the way always excited to see them react
🐶🐕🐕🦺🦮lol I think even with captions on the screen, it would be so hard to read at the speed of his rap XDD For most of the rap line or their solo songs, you pretty much have to watch through the MV and then read the lyrics separately Now we are in chapter 2 of BTS, we see them have such distinct different styles/messages & how they deliver their message/ the genres with all their solo works. And their solo works have evolved throughout the years. This is why only listening to BTS group songs is great, but we need the solos to learn & love each member more. RM loves to read & he has a high IQ - anything he says, lyrics he writes just show that. As Jimin recently said, I love the dark side of RM XD (can't wait for you to go further down the journey & listen to more of their group/solo songs)
🐕You guys are awesome😂 BTS together and solo have sooooo much more in store for you, I’m glad you’re continuing this journey. Most of my favorite songs are B side. And their live performances!!! ….🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
With just one small Google search there are sides with BTS lyric translation. You can watch songs while reading translations. Ir watch a lyric translated video. Same thing. Easy. With the exception of 4-5 songs, all other 360 songs they have are in Korean.
🦮 sooo there’s actually a version that has the subs so not sure why you’re watching this one. But yeah, early RM goes super hard. Can’t wait til you see the others.
I think the choice of mods will be good. The members' solo career is another world. It cannot be ruled out, although some b side or some live performance every 2 or 3 weeks would be good. Anyway, I am excited for what is to come
They diss their haters he shout out ASAP and Kanye you should listen August d song August d approx. The same time line and also in hip hop lovers they shout out the hip hop people with love from Spain🇪🇸
That's true in the BTS song "Hip Hop lovers" aka "Hip Hop Phile" (from 2014 Dark & Wild album, Danger & War of Hormone are both on this album but l love their b-sides Rain, Cypher pt. 3, Look Here etc) I think they literally name 13 rappers in the song who inspired them a few are Korean like Epik High.
🐶 "its bitch" I think you should've stuck with that one! 😂 I can't wait to get to more of RM's and Agust D! I listen to their solo work the most out of any of them (even though im Jimin bias).
Vuelvo a decirlo, OMFG !

🐕

Hi guys I love this song and I love BTS's rap line 💜 a You are too nice, greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
RM ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

I love all the messages/meanings all their solo songs have! Even their group songs, they just inspire all the time!!
I also enjoy y’all’s reactions as well!! 🐕😂🐕😂🐕😂
I would love to do the solo BTS journey and some amazing B sides in between. Their B sides are as good as the others. It is a shame to miss B sides. Then the mixtapes are gems. I´ve been Army only since 2020 and it still amazes me the amount of music they have produced.
Just do you!!! 💜🐶🐕🦮🐩🐕🦺
You guys haven't heard RM"s latest album??? “Right Place, Wrong Person”..... Thanks!!
😺just do you x
As everyone has said, he's not dissing those guys.. He's calling out those who gave them allot of hate and even saying they sold out by becoming an "idol"
🐶🐕 always love your BTS' reactions 💜💜💜!!
Coming soon…….😉
@@TAHBofficial omg thanks guys so lovely of u ♾️🎀🙈
🐕. Nice reaction
Saludos 🐶
🐶🐕🐕🦺🦮lol
I think even with captions on the screen, it would be so hard to read at the speed of his rap XDD
For most of the rap line or their solo songs, you pretty much have to watch through the MV and then read the lyrics separately
Now we are in chapter 2 of BTS, we see them have such distinct different styles/messages & how they deliver their message/ the genres with all their solo works.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!! I love this song.😊
With just one small Google search there are sides with BTS lyric translation. You can watch songs while reading translations. Ir watch a lyric translated video. Same thing. Easy. With the exception of 4-5 songs, all other 360 songs they have are in Korean.
Yeah that’s what we did 🤣
🦮 sooo there’s actually a version that has the subs so not sure why you’re watching this one. But yeah, early RM goes super hard. Can’t wait til you see the others.
I think the choice of mods will be good. The members' solo career is another world. It cannot be ruled out, although some b side or some live performance every 2 or 3 weeks would be good. Anyway, I am excited for what is to come
🐩 love it
For the lovely people sending you guys links, please make sure the version they are getting has subtitles 🙏🏼💜
Guys, there is a version with English subs. You just need to search for it.
Cypher 1, 2, 3, 4 pleaseeee
Lots of Arm movements this week guys 😂😂 Awesome RM 🔥🔥💜♾️💟💜✌️🇮🇪
🐶🐾🐶🐾😂😂😂
FIRST TIME . I SEE TH-camRS REACT TO THEIR LYRICS
🐕 💜
Fasten your seat belts, since BTS solo work is insane!!!! You are in for surprise after surprise.🐕
Lmao you’re classic 😂try reacting to overwhelming by Meer Nash mv next
Love u guys ❤big love
🐶 "its bitch"
I think you should've stuck with that one! 😂
I can't wait to get to more of RM's and Agust D! I listen to their solo work the most out of any of them (even though im Jimin bias).
😂
Finally do you receiving its flowers
🐕🐶🐾🐩🐕🦺🦮lmao
