    "...After a heated debate with the judges over the $3 million valuation of the business, she took a $150,000 deal with the shark Glen Richards for 25% of the company.
    But Pini says the deal didn’t go through.
    By the time we did our due diligence, our revenue had grown significantly and there was no use taking on that level of investment and giving away that amount of the company..."
    I'm so happy the deal didnt go through.

    I don't think I've been through an episode of this, where they haven't said "it's too early stage for me". I mean isn't that the entire point of the programme? These are meant to be seasoned business professionals and a little bit of risk scares them off.

    • @calvinlooi4500
      @calvinlooi4500 5 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      They are seasoned business professionals for a reason. Different people have different risk appetites. You're implying that every business is going to be successful with their help. Be reminded they are using their own money, and so they have to access whether will they get their money back.

    • @Niko-wg6pi
      @Niko-wg6pi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@calvinlooi4500 Yes they do have to take the money into consideration. I hadn't doubted that. But bear in mind, this is a business arrangement, if the company succeeds the Shark does as well. My point is not one about the money anyway, it's about being investable. The aim is to transform a business, not take shares in a successful company that doesn't require them.

    • @calvinlooi4500
      @calvinlooi4500 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Niko-wg6pi as you said, IF it succeeds. Most companies fail. There is no 1 size fits all in terms of choosing a company to invest. Different people have different criteria.
      Everyone wants to succeed. But how many actually do? The role of an investor is to taking into account all the unforeseen circumstances and identify if one has the capability to be successful.

    • @Niko-wg6pi
      @Niko-wg6pi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@calvinlooi4500 I can get behind what you are saying. My only issue is with these 'unforeseen circumstances'. Let's not enlarge this, it's a TV show. These Sharks are doing a number of things behind the scenes with these people. My knowledge of Shark Tank is unfortunately confined to this channel and perhaps I'm comparing it too much with Dragon's Den. The job of an investor is not always to pick the option with the smallest risk involved, sometimes you've gotta take a gamble - that's business. From what I've seen though, the Sharks are a lot more careful with their cash in comparison to the Dragons.

    • @360Billionaires
      @360Billionaires 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Niko-wg6pi exactly what I was thinking. What is the point if it's not early stage why would I even bother coming to the sharks? I, feel they haven't got much money as compared to the dragons and sharks of America hence, the phrase " Too early stage"

      Worse offer? She offered $300k up front ($100k + 200k loan) vs the other guy offering $150. She offered more money to kickstart the business. That's why she asked for a larger percentage.

    • @YesPlease1
      @YesPlease1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@JSSTyger The first offer valued her company at $600k. Her offer valued the entrepreneur's company at just $400k based on the equity offered. The $200k loan is quite risky for an entrepreneur to take because I think they're required to pay that back even if the business fails and there's no money coming in anymore to pay it 😬. That could be an amount of debt that she might never be able to pay off in her lifetime.

    Why do these Aussies always find a reason to be out? So you like the product and and entrepreneur but you refuse to invest because of her valuation? You know you could make them a counter offer like the US sharks and UK dragons do. I think these lot know they can’t really help and lack influence in a lot of areas so they just come up with dumb excuses
    Also, sometimes unrealistic counter offers are made in the hope that the entrepreneur doesn’t accept it (100k for 25% and 200k loan??)

      True . I hv been watching this programme and i real8sed the sharks would always give unfair proposals as they want to gain the best deals. In fact some companies should have a higher valuation, and the sharks know it too, but they just want to earn more as new start ups arent that experienced

    You could get a lot more people interested in saving the planet at a retail price of 40/50 than 72. I don't understand why companies like this go through wholesalers. It's a larger profit margin, slower burn to success but you're getting more out of each product.

    Unpopular opinion: I like how realistic Janine is. She doesn't beat around the bush. And she also doesn't get her feelings hurt if they don't take her offer. She knows going into it that her offer may be less appealing, but is confident at what she can bring to the table. Admittedly, I haven't done a lot of research on her because I'm more of a US fan. However, I think she is smart and isn't careless about who/what she invests in. I think that's respectable.

    These Aussie sharks are far too polite. I think they should do a version where essentially non of them ever invest in any of the companies or products. They are all out from the get go every time. But they do verbally abuse the contestants viciously. They have the same dramatic music and long, drawn out cuts showing the sharks' faces in different expressions, but essentially nothing happens. Now THAT'S a show!

    I get two weeks without her BAG unless the produce in the store was a little older, then nothing would preserve it longer. Veg and fruit have a long lifespan naturally provided it hasn't been sitting on the store's shelves already for too long. You never really know how old your product is to begin with so it is either going to last longer or not. I've tried every bag, swag vs. no bag or swag and there was NO difference in the longevity of the produce.
