    90% of my game time is vet dungeons, and the rewards have dropped through the floor the last few years.
    The dragonbones patch should have been the standard, couple of cool titles, skin and personality for the challengers, you’ve said it before the worm personality is still wanted by new players cause of how cool it is.
    It’s a shame as the last few dungeon packs have been pretty good in terms of content, but there’s nothing to work towards other than a title.
    I like the idea of rare drops like vas hm for all dungeon bosses, as long as you can sell them, they don’t even have to be that good just something! you could for example have a lich skin for crypt of hearts/pirate hat for black heart haven/flame pet for city of ash, I know some of them are a bit shit but people will want to go for stuff like that
    I also think the style pages should drop all year round in every dungeon, when the cauldron style page up my group ran it 50+ times and only got a few drops but for the people that got a drop it was worth it

      I did love the rare drop tool/memento from last secret boss in VBDV. It’s a rare cool drop and I love showing it off. It was my only incentive to complete dungeons. Zos is looking at the game from a singleplayers perspective. They are adding companions, those helps solo players not groups, a card game that no one asked for so you can battle npcs, they dont seem to understand the mmo culture. Mounts are importabt for mmo players yet they lose value if the main way of obtaining a mount is via real money.

    One simple thing I've been thinking about has been transmute crystals from random dungeons. Why not have random vet dungeon give 30 transmutes or something? If you're capable of running any dungeon on vet, you should be rewarded for that. Now, I understand that this would invite people who aren't ready for vet into pugs, but anyone who's gonna get annoyed by that is probably running with a premade group anyhow. That way people can run normal dungeons to explore and read the quest dialogue or whatever it is people wanna do today that the CP 3600 won't let them do when he wants to zoom through FG1 to get his crystals and bail

    14:40 The last thing ESO players need is more inventory clutter. Also, they need to fix Battlegrounds and Dungeon Finder
    My solution: make the game explore friendly and add the incentive of finding rare encounters that can provide cool gear/skins/mounts. Heck, you can even make some encounters difficult.

    I remembered that when ZOS uncapped CP, prices on alchemy, enchanting and provisioning writs, not just sky-rocketed - those items simple disappeared from the market - as those were used for power-leveling by end-game players. For them 1 - 3% that CP gives matters the most, so they wanted to get as many CP as possible, as fast as possible.

    For the ashlander daily quest u have a slight chance to loot a gold furniture! It can be anything but not just mount, something a really want to see is to get quality of life with acheivement, like more inventory/bank space, more furnishing space, in veteran trial/dongeon we can get things like a wayshrine for you house, daily crafting quest board and delivery after trifefta... Stuff like that!

  • @ZenDragonJP
    @ZenDragonJP 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Lots of thoughts, but the most forward one is: no additional currencies! I also think it will be a tough sell to convince ZoS to move more cosmetics out of the crown store into the (non-existent) reward structure. However, the existing achievement system is a very obvious mechanism by which they could systematically incentivize and reward play; it already works that way in a limited fashion. And I like the tiered reward idea, so extend the white/green/blue/purple/gold tier approach to the achievements. Each stage of the achievement rewards an improved version of the reward from previous stages.

  • @HarryVoyager
    @HarryVoyager 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    17:31 I think a couple of ways to do a harder over land mode would be to allow zones to have their quests be reset, without the skill point rewards, and have some sort of combat difficulty scaler that would debuff the character and increase Exp rewards.
    I'd probably have them be completely separate as well: so at any time, you can do a complete reset on the Zone progress and do the whole zone over. And independently, you can set your difficulty setting, regardless of whether or not you're on your first pass or not.

  • @rickyjanzen6684
    @rickyjanzen6684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really like the concept of earning a "cosmic currency" for leveling CP. I'm getting higher in CP, but I have a couple of friends 1900+ and they literally couldn't care less about gaining XP. Nothing in here could ever be in the crown store. Of course, ZOS doesn't want to lose revenue (crown store being the only custom loot vendor in the game), so maybe you can only earn this new currency with ESO+. It's a solid investment already if you play the game and getting even more of their player base on the subscription model could reduce their ravenous pricing structure of the crown store.
    There's a lot of ideas to unpack in there, and I went into a dissertation on that 1 idea, but I think he makes solid points across the board that should be addressed in some manner by ZOS.

    One very easy soft solution for dungeon etc rewards would be adding a chance to drop those dungeon themed arms pack style pages that one can buy from crown store. Very easy to add on the game since that system already exists, just in very limited capacity.

    we get rewarded with being able to play the game obviously
    Current Rewards:
    Houses - 99% crown store or gold, and the time limited ones are bullshit
    Motifs - most are in the auction house
    Dyes - one or 2 are cool, maybe, like Nefas says.
    Mounts - Earnable ones are awesome, but there's only a few. Needs less reskins and more unique and updated models that are NOT on the crown store.

    My idea a trial mount that can level: To lvl it you must complete the trial a few times, on normal it gets you a little and on Vet Hm it gets you a lot more progression towards the next mount level. You can also build modifiers into trial that change on the weekly base, that can give you specific rewards or help /make it harder to beat that trial. This also goes for skins as the can have levels that make them look cooler. This would mean that you as the player get more "mounts / skins" for your hard work and can choose which one to equip :)

  • @ubnoxiousgaming5549
    @ubnoxiousgaming5549 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just think a vertical progression would be nice. New dungeons, trials, delves etc that are noticeably harder with CP200-360 gear. The overland and delves drop cp 200, and the veteran trials(s) drop cp 360. More healer checks and less lazy one shot mechanics.

  • @usemyduckie9919
    @usemyduckie9919 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    He missed something, I know that he did mention the weeklies giving more but I think there needs to be more rewards for arenas specifically. You go into vVH to get SS or vMA for weapons and FC and you're done. There needs to be a bigger incentive than just motifs from vVH, the weapons aren't even anything amazing, they're somewhat out dated for the meta. I want to see a rare item drop from MA or VH, like a. goofy costume for you or your companions. Maybe even a cool memento that has a chance to drop, or even some 10k+ plunder you can sell. Furthermore if you do another SS or FC you get even more plunder to sell or a chance at a cooler emote or non combat pet. I told my friends that VH is fun but they said they wouldn't do it because the drops aren't meta or anywhere close. I would just like to see a small change to make them think otherwise.

      This is why I was confused that people were happy for account wide achievements but furious at account wide titles. I was more of the opinion that achievements should be character only. No one else can see them, but it let's you track your progress, and have more grinding goals gor completionists. Whereas titles (achievement-based ones) show that you as the player know that content and it's moderately irrelevant which avatar did it. Of course, some specifics vary between roles, but you'll still have the overall conceptual knowledge of the encounter and you'd be able to transition roles more fluidly than someone without the title.
      Speaking of tracking, the completely F'd up skyshard tracking so I have no idea which ones I don't have on alts (thank goodness for the ESO Helper app!).

    There’s a lot of good ideas here. Even if they just tied in one reward (ie. mount or costume) for each set of dungeons released it would give people more reason to farm them. Also they should make the motifs drop from the dungeons upon release. Having them come out months later makes me do the dungeon on vet once when it comes out and then not come back until the motif is out if I happen to like it. Having reward variety would make me care more to do dungeons because I do enjoy them but once I have the dye there’s not really a point to go back initially.

    The reward structure really needs to be overhauled cuz it might as well not exist as it stands. Lackluster rewards that kill incentive to PvP outside of potentially TWO outfits and whatever sets you might need. And dailies free rewards are a joke at best. What we got this month is just good, not even great. Most of the time it's just plain terrible. This guy here knows exactly what this game needs for rewards. Remember when Murkmire was a free reward!? I was so numbed to the lacking of the rewards I actually missed it...
    As for whether a reward should be bought or not I think should determine its value of rarity. Like you can't just buy or sell the Polymorph you can for beating vMA, but you could sell a super rare Style Motif. Besides, most people will buy and sell carries anyway so who cares if it can be bought or sold?

  • @walter274

    This guy loves mounts! One thing that could be done is making another level of material that can be used to further upgrade your equipment. These mats can only come from completing content. You can't just go buy them. They can also make set crafting station that you can only access after completing various combinations of content. These sets should actually be on par with something you could get in a trial. I like the idea of getting rewards for completing zones. I think they could make new recipes for food or drinks interesting rewards. They could also perfected versions of monster sets. Maybe you would need to collect all 6 possible pieces, plus a new rare material, and transmute stones to construct one of these perfected pieces. This would be a way to breath new life into a lot of monster sets.

    Quest rewards are just abysmal, 99.9% go straight in the trash can... Would be great if you got rewards with items/etc that can only be obtained by completing that quest. Also please add a difficulty setting so I have to at least hit the boss twice before he dies. Now there's no feeling of accomplishment for doing a questline. It's just mind numbingly easy for experienced players.

    what about ability skins? i think it would be cool for instance if your a sorc or warden, you can get a diff deadra instead of a imp or clanfear that fits its size or even make it a different color isntead of a wierd purple or give the bear a diff skin like dark brown, black or even one that looks like a apex mount or something. same goes for aura effects on any ability, give them diff colors or effects...really sky is the limit and i ppl would probably like this idea too. you could tie them into character achievements or anything really but it would be cool to see

    Just look at WoW for a good mount system even super old dungeons that nobody plays anymore had rare mount drops that I would regularly go back to and try to get the mounts. There were purchasable mounts but they felt no where near as prestige as getting rare mounts from dungeons.

    What if you were able to pick a piece of gear that you wanted from a trial when you get into the instance and based on your teams trial performance, you would have a percentage chance to get that piece regardless of stickerbook status? I.e if you do a no death speed run hardmode, you have a 100% chance to get the piece and the percentage decreases if you turn off hardmode, miss speed run time, have group deaths? This could also be applied to dungeons or rewards could be more seals of endeavors. For overland content, maybe they need to have a weekly or daily world boss quest that guarantees a random motif? That would revitalize some of the neglected zones periodically.

    I like the endless mode. Maybe it's the new arena that features chances for arena weapons and monster masks of other locations. I'd imagine it'd be a good way to get transmutes, gold, and even resources. Depending on how long the individual can last (time or rounds of endless) it would have scaling rewards from the chest at the end. On a another note. How do you feel about every unique player "distraction"(world boss, dungeon, battle grounds) provide a small batch of transmutes, gold and endeavors.

    I think to some extent, it's unlikely that ZOS would ever implement this (or maybe only in some very limited fashion) because I do hate to say this...but money is probably a factor. I think that this is partly what was trying to be addressed via Seals of Endeavor to some extent. They probably thought this would be a good middle ground where your gameplay had a "reward structure" where you can get rewards for things you do. Similar to the idea where there is a "reward for every level/tier" with Seal of Endeavor...you can buy really cheap stuff or save up and buy SUPER expensive mounts and things. The reason they probably structured it this way is so that ALL the rewards are directly tied to the Crown Crates, thus, making some items super expensive might entice players to purchase Crown Crates instead. In general, linking the two reward/item pools was probably intended to link people's association of the two methods of acquiring said items and thus, creating somewhat of a process by which players who are more casual may get fed up with the grind, buy crown crates, and be done with it whereas perhaps more hardcore players might be cool with grinding for stuff. Personally, I think the Seals of Endeavor are a great idea so we can save up in-game currency for items that previously were only real-money microtransactions, but they are a far, far cry from legitimate achievement and gameplay based rewards. Sure, you can buy that expensive polymorph or that really cool glowy mount with the 13k Seals of Endeavor you saved up for, but no one is going to know HOW you achieved it, only that you did, it won't say anything unique or interesting about your gameplay nor their gameplay skill or choices which makes the achievement itself feel very "blah" and forgettable as well. So that said, Seals of Endeavor are great and all but if ZOS thought that was going to be a bandaid for legit achievement/gameplay based rewards they're wrong...or maybe they're right...maybe what we don't know is that perhaps ESO (like so many games) survives between big DLCs and Expansion releases on casuals who are totally cool with bypassing the grinds and skill-locked rewards (including grinding for Seals of Endeavor) and just cave in and buy a fuck load of Crowns and are done with it. I hope that isn't true but I have a bad feeling that it probably is true of ESO as well as for many other games. This is partly where the whole impetus for "daily quests" comes in as well...it's just to keep people logging in, it doesn't really serve the hardcore players or those who see ESO as their "mainstay" MMO or game, instead you get to a cynical point where you do wonder if most design choices related to rewards and financing the game aren't mostly directed at casual players who don't invest much time in the game and who would rather play the game 15 mins, buy a cool mount with real money, and never even attempt veteran content in any form let alone trials or arenas in normal mode. If THAT is true, then I doubt we will ever see these great ideas that Brah We Got This suggested.

    18:19 Maybe he's counting the Sorrel Horse you get for reaching level 20..? 🐴
    I specifically check my Dyes at the Outfit Station, choose one I have yet to unlock, and set that as my next goal. "Why?", you might wonder. Well, what the fuck else am I going to do? I can't really make PvP my goal, because I hate playing Magicka or anything with a Staff equipped, or as a Nightblade, or as a Sorc, etc...etc. I've already cleared every Veteran HM Dungeon. In pugs, I might add. I'm past the ~1600 soft-cap on CP. So that's ceased to be any sort of goal. I only know of one Guild that does Trials, and they occasionally ask me to fill in for a missing regular. But, I'm not really sure what motivates them to even do those Trials. I just join to help out, and as a novelty. Skins? Glitter-pony-cat-mounts? Fuck that...
    This CP progression loot system he's suggesting, specifically the rewards themselves, would literally be the end of my interest in ESO. No kidding; I'd just quit. The Elder Scrolls is not a series of games meant to feature the cast of MLP, ridden by Lisa Frank, projectile vomiting rainbow-glitter all over everything. Already, half the neon-crap in the cash shop looks ridiculous next to a mudcrab, a troll, or even an actual dragon that's breathing Godzilla-like lightning. Whenever I see that pink sparkling pony, I just wanna log-off. Where's _my option_ in the Settings to *_TURN OFF_* anything bought from the cash shop? If they can turn off my Title, then I should be able to turn off their gaudy-ass, disco-ball, lava-lamp, confetti-vomiting mounts, skins and weapons. Their mount/skin/weapon models, on anyone's screen with the filter toggled On, could just be replaced with a series of base-game defaults.
    There are achievement vendors in the game. They mostly sell useless furnishings, which you can't buy without first earning some achievement. I totally agree that more earn-able rewards would be awesome. But only if they look like they fit into the world of Tamriel, and are not acquired through some system that's just ripped-off from another MMO. Half the stuff he lists is lifted straight out of WoW. That game is dying faster than most. Why borrow what we all know leads to failure? That doesn't seem smart. ESO doesn't need to try to be all these other games he's mentioning. It needs to just be ESO, minus ZOS' overt greed, laziness and incompetence.
    Fixing PvP would be easy, if they were willing to slightly offend the current PvP crowd. But, bear in mind that, PvP has been a broken mess for so long that many of the players who embrace it, in its current state, may sort of be a product of that environment. So, how seriously can those objections be taken anyway?
    The biggest problem isn't lag... The biggest problem is that ZOS has simply given up on attempting to balance anything in a PvP environment. And, given the fact that they've only ever tried to accomplish this from the inside out (mechanically), who can blame them? That's basically an impossible task, given the near endless intricacies resulting from races, classes, skills, sets, glyphs, CP, etc.
    So, what ESO's PvP needs is: PvP Filters. _Not templates, per-say._ But filters, which would impose diminishing returns on damage dealt, healing output, damage reduction, actual dynamic DR on CCs (not this 1 / Immune for X seconds bullshit),...everything. And ZOS could, with broad strokes, dial-in and fine-tune these filters to achieve an acceptable result. With the numbers smoothed out, PvP would be more about out-playing your opponents than exploiting the latest meta, or playing something that only interests you because it's OP. I'm sure that would not be popular amongst those currently thriving in PvP but,...maybe that's a _good thing._ I think a change like this would make PvP feel accessible to so many more players, than does the current meta-chasing cesspool we have now.

    Add combat followers that aren't necessarily humanoid. Have vet HM dungeons have rare summoner cards that you can grind and craft into summoned thralls. You could use existing mini-bosses for the models and give them small move sets and unique passives that they share with the summoner (the player). Imagine the build diversity and synergies you could create with existing assets. Say, for example, the flame atronach miniboss from City of Ash as a summoned companion that has passives that boost flame damage or the Orc boss from Wayrest that gives additional heavy attack damage, or a vampire mini that boosts vampiric abilities. I mean the possibilities for unique combinations of class, build, and chosen combat summon would be pretty cool. You could do the same for trial mini's or elite NPCs. Maybe let us slot the summoner card on our gear somehow for small passive bonuses when we inevitably get a stronger summon from harder/newer content. You could put one slot per body piece for instance and have each summon card give a small bonus that is relevant to the summons theme.

    22:21 I agree with what you say exept for the not selling en buying part. Say if you can sell it, ppl are gonna grind their #@£&@ off so they can make a lot of gold by selling it in guild trader. BUT ... I don't think that you should be able to buy it in the crownstore too, otherwise there's no point in grinding it. But if you don't like dungeons, you can go buy it in guildstore if you want to pay a lot of gold for it. This way the players that love selling and their goal is making a lot of gold, they will have a reason to keep doing the dungeon for the random drop that they can sell.
    But yeah the rest I completely agree. I don't have any problems yet cause I'm a new player but for veteran players they should really make those changes to keep you from burn out and loose interrest in the game.

    I think the trouble is making a system that is simple enough not to deter new players, but complex enough to discourage super min-maxing of gathering the achieved "resource". Right now that resource is gold and most of the time spent doing stuff other than gold gathering techniques feels wasted. So either balance out the amount of gold you can get from questing vs dungeons, etc. or find a way to add a currency for each system without deterring new players.

Instead of having actually earned it.

    We need new visual things that are tied exclusively to achievements or progression in general, not just add more and more and more skins, mounts, polymorphs (btw I can only thin of 2 polys that are earnable by missions in the whole game, and one of them is in the Dark Brotherhood DLC, come on ZOS... at least one per major chapter) and personalities. Something unique and different fromthe rest.
    Maybe something like an Aura around your character, with different colors, wind effect, particle effect, lights effects... depending on the source of the reward (CP level, dungeon, compleating missions lists, bosess... Idk). And new textures for the chests and crafting stations in your home, thematics even.
    And also utily stuff, more space in your house, a new chest for them to store more things, one more inventory space per 500 achievements points or so, discounts buffs in merchants every time you finish a hard dungeon or something like that...

    Give us more cosmetics from antiquities, or bring back rewards for no death, hard mode, and speed completed separately. Right now everything cool is locked behind crowns or end game achievements. Not to say we don’t need more end game achievements, we do. But a lot of us lower mid tier players lost incentives when they moved vet dungeons clears to skins on complete or on the other end trifecta only rewards. Make mounts, more pets, etc. for non-trifecta achievement clears. Create more cosmetics for antiquities. The ebon wolf mount was cool, more things like that. Create more PvP rewards that are purchasable with AP or alliance rank gain. The current reward system is geared towards no one at the moment, but the tiny bit of rewards available are either for casuals or hardcore end gamers. Not much for mid tier players.
    For the super casual players, you could get a special Mount or pet themed to getting 100% of a zone cleared, and tied thematically to the zone. This would get more people to complete the earlier zones and quest. There are so many options that the devs could go with. It’s shocking they haven’t done more. The game will eventually die if all rewards are locked behind the crown store. The monetization is driving players away and instead of taking the hint the devs are just increasing the monetization to make up for the players they are losing. They aren’t taking the hint.

  • @AshtheDragon-l4e
    @AshtheDragon-l4e 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Part of the problem with the rewards is the fact that so much can just be bought. motifs- buy with gold or crowns. Titles, trial/dungeon skins, mounts personalities- just buy a carry. I'll give an example of why this whole just buy is style of rewards is bad. Destiny 2 has a hard title to get that use to be a flex called Flawless. In the pass this was a huge flex as you had to do 7 matches in a row of pvp without losing one, but now it's become so common place due to people buying carries or cheating that no one cares about the title or the armor glows/loot people get because hey why get good when you can pay a hundred bucks and have someone do it for you. Same thing is happening with eso and the carries people offer and sell. I still remember when passing vmol was a huge flex or when doing city of ash 2 without someone rage quitting was actually something to brag about. Now it's starting to feel like things have less reward value due to how much is being put into the "just buy it" market.

    I think people forget how ESO started and how is currently, i remember when i started back in 2014 i had literally shit nothing, no free nothing, if i wanted something i had to go and grind it really hard for hours and leveling was really slow passing and tedious. Now we get a lot of luxuries and free content and still players complaining, complaining never going to stop, players always want more and more free shit and once you make free they complain why it is free? Stop complaining and play the game period, try to become emperor or some other hard challenges even tho other people don’t care i do because I’m a badass and became The Emperor with my own efforts playing the game competing against thousands of other players who were dominating, and i the guy who started with nothing got one of the most rare trophies in the history of games, so fuck your whining and go play the game, if you don’t like it because there is not enough rewards and free shit then get tha fuck out and play Minecraft.
