That's why this is an ART FORM and not just random forcing, bellowing and screaming. Giacomini KNEW his technique perfectly...and vocal perfection was the result. On this particular night, he was simply astounding. He always sang well, but this is simply amazing singing.

Astounding.....that I have studied tenor voices for nearly 40 years and just heard him today for the first time....Sounds like the sound comes from the cellar and rings in the attic....WOW
@@Alexmeister25 He has the sound or fullness of dramatic tenor, but voices can be very deceptive he had a medium sized voice. But then again a lot of heldentenors also had medium sized voices. It is certainly not small, however, someone like Corelli for example definitely had a quite bigger voice. But would not really guess that form just listening to a recording. But Giacomini is great he should be be better known. He had one of the last tenor voices that was really meant for heavy repertoire.
A medium size voice? I heard him sing Cavaradossi in person, in rehearsals and live performances at Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1989, from the stage, wings, and various locations of the house, both main floor and balcony. If that was a medium sized voice, then I've never heard a cannon.

I listen to a LOT of Tenors, especially the Master Pavarotti. Giacomini holds the notes near and at the end of the Aria as perfect, as long or longer as any Tenor I have ever heard. Bravo!
Its not just the "Squillo", or the Dramatic voice, or the amazing high note, but it is the weight and power that he produces while singing those amazing ringing high notes!!! We have all heard great high notes before, but not with so much heavy power that this man produces. Go listen to Vickers, Del Monaco, and Correli. They were all powerful and had full ringing voices in there prime, but this guy has some shock wave behind his notes that could blow you out of the theater!!
finally somebody knows it right! unfortunately because of the people lack of knowledge think what and how he performs are wrong by giving crappy non-sense reasons. Die Sänger müssten damals mit ihrer Stimme große Opernhäuser und Theater ausfüllen. Ohne Lautsprecher. Der klassische Gesang ist daher so kraftvoll und beeindruckend. Seine Stimme hat dieses Strahlen, was die Tenorstimme so besonders macht. Selbst nach dem zwanzigsten Male ansehen bin ich immer wieder beeindruckt.
He is amazing on video, but this is a voice you need to hear in the theatre to really have the proper idea of what type of sound it was and the emotion it gave.
I am always astounded when I stumble onto someone I have never heard and wonder why a voice like this should be unknown to me. I am derelict in searching I suppose. pity me what else I've missed. But that's the fun of discovery, another name to my catalogue.

I went to see "il Trovatore" when the Royal opera visited Manchestet. Giacomini was the Manrico - I didn't know him when I entrered the theatre, but I certainly knew him when I left! What a night! Carol Neblett, Yuri Masurok, Irina Arkhipova and Stafford Dean too!

Era molto tempo che ascoltavo Armiliato,Alagna,Kaufmann,Giordani Alvarez tutti artisti di ora!!!,che noia!!!,quando ho cliccato Giacomini ...meno male l'ho fatto ed ho trovato una differenza di interpretazione vocale totalmente diversa da tutti i citati in precedenza!!! Giacomini pur non essendo tra i fuoriclasse passati di fronte ai nostri odierni è un "fenomeno"! Anni fa a Torre del lago interpretò una Tosca a dir poco spettacolare,per voce,tecnica, interpretazione,(cosa rara per lui),e sopratutto lineare senza una sbavatura di nessun tipo!!! Era una di quelle serate che ad un artista capita di rado in carriera...credo sia l'ultimo tenore degno di essere ricordato!!!!!!!!! Grazie

the high 'A' before the B flat was poor. He even shuffled around because he knew it was bad also
