I used to listen to Bishop Sheen when I was a child in mud and late 50’s in my Catholic home . Every week my father and mother would watch him with all of us children on I think something cslked “The Catholic Hour” on TV once a week. He influenced me even as an 5 yr old untill 10 or 12 yr old. Then my teenage yrs arrived and Boarding School for girls so I found Bishop Sheen again a year or so again. 65 years later!! He still impresses me but I understand the blessed power of his words now.
I did the same as you did as a child with my mom. Now I watch him on TH-cam. I think he should be canonized as a saint as soon as possible. I ask him to please pray for my children and grandchildren as well as myself 🙏🙏🙏

As a 53 year old today, Bishop Sheen was before my time. I can’t believe his wisdom, wit and way with words! What a treasure for the Catholic faith. What a treasure for humanity! I am finding so much comfort and guidance by spending time listening to his sermons, especially during this season of Lent. How we could use a Bishop Sheen today. Thankfully we have the wonderful tapes and broadcasts of the man.
It is our American Bishops who impede the beatification of Archbishop Sheen..

Bishop Sheen is an excellent, holy and intelligent preacher and writer. I grew up with his Life is Worth Living. I had the honor to meet him in Cebu, Philippines. He is and will always be my favorite speaker. As far as I am concerned he is truly a saint. Thank you for this talks.

@@frankmartire Yes. Like Br. Solanus Casey. Pope JP II canonized many people (+400) who would have gone unknown otherwise, starting with Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Maximilian Kolbe.

Venerable Sheen is by far the best speaker I have ever heard. His message is so moving. I do not understand why he is still not a saint.
He is a Saint in heaven where it counts
Among the many other good things we hear when listening to Bishop Sheen
is his explicit welcome of any Jews in his audience,
and his urging of the Christian audience to see Jews as their fellow men and children of God-- people whose prayers were valuable and badly needed.
Though most of us now lack the historical context to hear it, the Bishop is pushing back against Fr Charles Coughlin.
Coughlin was a hugely popular radio evangelist who began by broadcasting homilies,
But, with the encouragement of a secular radio producer,
Gradually shift to almost purely political weekly speeches that scapegoated and even demonized Jews. In the process of rejecting Communism, Fr Coughlin came to openly embrace Fascism and encourage his American audience to do the same! He went to so far as to reassure his audience not to be too distressed about Krystalnacht, because "they brought it on themselves."
Sheen's broadcasts were so, so badly needed at this time. He was leading a lot of people away from the abyss with these talks,
in more ways than one!
Bishop Sheen was a wise, knowledgeable priest...if he was against, we should've known that he was right in his mind!! God is with us!!

@Ralph Auer In December 2022, I was in my local Catholic bookstore, when a young man walked in to make a purchase of a few reliquaries to preserve some 1st Class relics that his girlfriend bought in Italy; one was St. Gemma Galgani. He was kind enough to touch my scapular with it and my hip because of an upcoming major surgery. Thank you for the info on her passing. It means a lot to me. St. Gemma Galgani and St. Archbishop Fulton Sheen pray for us. 🙏
@@jeanmarie4462 Jean, Saint Gemma Galgani is my Patron Saint. If you haven’t read her life. The book to get is The life of Saint Gemma Galgani. It was written by Father Germanus in 1904. He was her Spiritual Director for 3 years. So many facts, told by many people. Google for purchase around $8.00 used (look like new) + delivery. Well worth it. Good reading. Something for me to read 370+ pages. Annnnd I’m starting to read it again. OMG 😳

Come down from the cross and we will believe or rather as he clearly explained, change the church teaching and be an inclusive church then we will believe.

46 When there is no Prophet on earth, the faith of the children of God is shared among the disciples of such and such old Prophet, between Pharisees, Sadducees, Hellenists, Zealots, Herodians, Essenes… but when God sends a prophet in their time, then all the children of God who are divided and scattered in the churches come, gather around the Message of this Prophet. There is an exodus. Those who are of God get out of the synagogues to gather around the Message of the hour that is to say a Message brought by a prophet still alive on earth. If all the Christianity is gathered around the Bible which is the whole of the books of the prophets, it is because God gathers his people only around the living prophet messenger. If you are of God, it is not a historical faith that you must have to be saved, but it is to accept the Message of your time that is to say a Message brought by the living prophet of your time. 1:19:40.. One must love life like wine? Where I come from, most people don’t know what wine is or does. It’s for the rich. Most people who want to numb their mind from no knowing the way towards this love, that is so hard to find or sustain take all sorts concoctions. Glue, rum, some leaves that keeps one awake 2047 and then they must death death like water which is so scarce and when found full of blood that is spilt daily by persons who while exercising their version of love thru war and various levels of corruption🤔.
- Religion is not for those without a spine or is it that heaven is not for those who understand God with their un-sacred mind when he is all Sacred and therefore confusing the disciples even further by interpreting for them. This is confusing for all even those who are clear that they are clear. Who is to deliver the truth and have they got the capacity to move the original knowledge of the God they have been conditioned to be the one; to the now true one. Is it not that true God is to experienced differently by individuals depending on where they are at for all sorts of reasons. A prisoner given a chance by his heart must surely experience God differently from a fisherman whose only issue is to manage a healthy catch of fish, with an aim to sell and buy an up to date fishing equipment and reduce the toil and when that is achieved, he might move on to a relationship with God for the purpose of a wife to join him in ripping the fruits of his labour. Little does he know that by the time he finishes having a shower to settle for that long romance and whatever else his mind has imagined, the moment is now ripe to know God different because his very wife has come with her own God. Which God is to be served here and why? Well, I think we need to live God the job of rescuing us from ourself as we ain’t got a clue. We don’t know where the destination is let alone how to get there even tho many minds have written manuals. My little mind that I found in me whenever tells me the God knows us. That is key. We have not known God. Trees do, they do what they do until they from over an axe of due to storm and so have the fish that enjoy the water until the monkey tricks by suggesting that it’s better up the tree in case they drown but otherwise don’t even know they are just growing healthy to be eaten by man, the disease and others such as them. We we fight anything that attempts to eat us and even try to make extinct with asking which role do they play in this drama of life all in order to secure live but for what? No offence. Just meditating.

10:22..God became man to suffer? Why not take the suffering away? As a parent, I would do anything to eliminate suffering for my kids and I am a mere human being. When He fell out with the angels He cast them out of heaven, when he fell with Adam and his companion he cast them out out of garden of Eden and much more to the utmost Sacrifice on the cross and still suffering that causes man to be so helpless, cannot, will not be able to save himself insists? Why?

Why through suffering? It us the One thing Everyone experiences. Most ppl when they see suffering of others want to help. We all can identify with some sort of suffering to some degree. We don't all experience happiness, joy, self worth etc. We All have experienced some type of pain, suffering. He wanted us to know He came for All ppl and that is the one thing All ppl experience is suffering, for ourselves or for others. Just my understanding of why He chose suffering for us.
