The 10th tile that was placed (James) was not placed correctly. The river can not u turn, even if there is space to do so. Also the lake is the last of the river tiles. The river starts with the mountain spring tile which yall placed last.
Great video. I was sure that the building at end of a road wasn't actually a monastery and this video has lead me to realise it actually is! Also, I agree the river isn't great for reasons you mention and that is why we choose to play the river tiles but now allow any meaple placements until all rover tiles have been paid - definitely better that way.
We hold our hands up to the move played by Tatto, as stated in the video we were over whelmed by the poor tile placed by Natalie that his move just slipped by us. Not everyone has a high skill level when playing games, TableTop or otherwise, and the game actually suggests playing without Farmers and including the River Expansion to get Started as a slow introduction. These 3 players had only played a couple games of Carcassonne but I'm happy to admit that they've gotten a lot better. We are planning on making a video which includes the Farmers and we'll give our constructive thoughts on the Piece itself and how it's placed. To put it short though the game gets a little intense. Thanks for the feed back none the less we'll be sure to pay more attention to the game state. Should you come back in the near future we will be playing a game with other Piece included even Farmers. However, for now we'll be showcasing the game with different pieces to show how they interact with the main game. Again, thanks for the feed back.

I feel like you don't like the river expansion because you're not playing with farmers and it gives you a slow start. That being said I'm no expert I just discovered this game and ordered the base game with river and abbot and aka watching some videos of it while I eagerly wait to get to play it. It looks extremely fun.
Great review. I have played it a few times and it is a lot of fun. I couldnt find any rulings on the internet so I was hoping you could help. If I placed a tile that completes a farm and road at the same time, can i score both on the same turn and two meeples would return to my hand?

Regarding your question; if you place a tile that completes a Road and a Farm you will only get back the Meeple on the Road as Meeples on Farms only score at the end of the game. However, If you place a tile that completes a Road and a Castle then players will score for both and Meeples will return to the respective player. I started playing carcassonne just 2 days ago and my god this is awful. No farmers? Invalid moves where noone sees it? Those decisions? Oh damn...

I find this hard to follow if one doesn’t know how to play the game. What does the x-number mean after the names?

Regarding your question; if you place a tile that completes a Road and a Farm you will only get back the Meeple on the Road as Meeples on Farms only score at the end of the game.
However, If you place a tile that completes a Road and a Castle then players will score for both and Meeples will return to the respective player.
