Why I Quit IAS (2008 Batch).

- I can tell you firsthand that many youngsters in India destroy their lives appearing and re-appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Exam.
On a daily basis, my inbox is filled with so many stories of those who lost their 20s revising, and re-revising the same books.
That’s NOT how you should live your 20s. You can’t throw away the most productive years of your lives on the lanes of Old Rajendra Nagar - just because you couldn’t clear an exam on your first attempt.
There’s no doubt that clearing the UPSC exam is a sure-shot way for upward social mobility in India. But what if things DO NOT work out? Statistically speaking, 99% of people fail in this examination.
And once you fail in this exam, the sunk cost fallacy kicks in - wherein you’d continue to prepare full time for this exam year after year - because getting a job is not easy after gap years.
My advice has always been - do not take multiple gap years to appear/reappear for these exams. Give all your might in the first attempt, and if for some reason things do not fall in line - take up a job. (And then you can use that job to pivot into your desired careers in a few years - details in links below).
You can still re-appear for this exam but please do it along with a job.
But now the question is how to get a job. You already have so many gap years and no real-life skills.
Here are 6 videos that you should watch today. I will also do a TH-cam Live next week - you can come in with your questions when we meet. Please watch all these videos - before you join the TH-cam Live.
It is sad that India’s Demographic Dividend is getting wasted appearing and re-appearing in the quest for a ‘Government’ Job.
Life is definitely more than an exam that the British created 100s of years ago.

Please make video on vlogger civil servants
It would be better if the background music is removed from the next time as sir himself was speaking in low volume
My Editing Team duly notes this. Thanks for sharing the feedback
I think this music adds an extra layer the way conversation going on and I must congratulate to your editing teamʼs taste of music, in this case it suits fantastic. This conversation is going like water flowing in the river and BG truly depicting it
Personally I liked the music for this conversation, music volume can be a bit low
Music is actually enhancing the exp.
We need music
I also agree that Peace of Mind, Health and spending some quality time with family is also important to lead a life.
Please remove the background music for better experience
amazingly crafted conversation packaged with honest & simple responses from Vidya sir punched with a beautiful bg score, it's all a blessing. These perspectives are so helpful to put in action against all the mythical content we are made to follow as aspirants in vulnerable positions. The discourse of this video goes far beyond what storytelling platforms with millions of impressions or what many charismatic personalities have to offer in the given domain. Thanks, Naman Bhaiya! I have completed my History and economics episodes, looking forward to our next journey into the realms of geography and strategies to conquer it from UPSC's perspective.
backgroud music is spoiling whole session, making it a very tense conversation.
Goosebumps on knowing every problem is so simple and yet complex if you want to or you it can be simple if you want to solve it, and what a beautiful mind he has
Awesome candid conversation
Thank you Vidya sir and Naman sir for this awesome conversation it's help us lot's thank you
Thank you Naman and Vidya ❤ worth watching discussion Naman u picked really important questions thanks for this KT. Vidya sir seems to be very genuine and Humble person. I really enjoyed your discussion 👍🏼 and it's very helpful to me I really appreciate both of u
Brilliant Discussion by two eminent personalities. Wish you all the best, Sir! This is truly helpful. The level of research, questions, answers - were top notch
Gay
Loved it,especially for people like me who missed the bus of opportunities for upsc being in NE hinterland. Hearing that it is just one of many opportunities for a better life to make a change in society and improvement in life by specializing in one's competence.
Thank you for the refreshing podcast. Life starts at 37😊
All the very best!
when I was in my school Vidya Bhushan sir have awarded me many a times
i still have a picture with him while i was not able to handShake but he himself came forward on stage
Today i have seen him after many many years
he was collector of my District Amethi
Bali ka bakra that's what is ias i guess . An ias is equivalent to an IIM MBA but paid less and work hazard is more. Its hard to fight feudal lords at grassroots. As a centrist krishna an ias is supposed to fight both crony capitalist and psycho feudal lords. Lion is fighting with boths wolves and crocodile
Great discussion. One thing govt can implement that they should give priority to internships in social sector, promote those people who are coming from State civil services and can leverage technology and management. Administration is really about management. UPSC has passing percentage of 0.001%. but state civil services will have less competition. Plus the officers who are coming from state civil services will more appreciate the real problems.
Great podcast sir, you focused on plan B , If you can create a series of podcast where industry people can come and guide us about different tech and non tech role and their real demand and supply ratio for that role then we can easily choose plan B. Most of the time when we go on TH-cam or any other platform creator creates a artificial hype about that job/role just to sell their courses because of this we mostly end up choosing wrong courses. And one more thing sir please call people who has a humble background like most of us are from small colleges can't go for MS in foreign countries.
Bhaii is Video ko bina background music krke re-upload kr do .....aise mai depression me chala jaunga ...itna intense music hai 🥲
Can we have such videos without the background music
I am sure they would sound much better
I think the video should not be edited with any background music..........the background music sometimes causes problem in listening.....
How to remove background music 😢
Splendid ques and an insightful session!
Positive feedback : please remove the background music or use different one at low volume because this sound is depressing and intense😊
My Editing Team duly notes this. Thanks for sharing the feedback
Excellent personality. Honest and candid opinions. Thank you Sanjay Patel Professional Engineer Canada
No compromise on truth. Information is something we lack. There is no way around it.
Hi Naman,
Is there a way to reach out to you? I also think burnout is a huge issue that PPL don't discuss.
Hi, I have a request for the Author, would it be possible to make a video on training IAS/IPS get on management. That is how they manage, break down tasks, assign person for handling this like say Drought, flooding or cyclone ..something where there is less time, less material, less labor or skilled-labor and funds, but has to be done.
Sir I want details for your course.. How to contact you?
Mr naman yeh apne sirnane ki spelling galat kyun likhi hai
Quite insightful
Sir why these types of ias officers who resigned from services , creates a political party which leads a upcoming newer India
I was fortunate to work under the Vidya sir
Background music is really disturbing the viewers
Background Music makes it hard to listen to what he says, please take it off.
The BGM is ruining the words
Why music ??
Please remove the background music. Very irritating. Surprising you didn't notice it, I couldn't watch such a good content because of this.
Hi, Can you please remove this background music from the next video onwards. It is very distracting and irritating while listening to such interviews.
Pure ex-bureaucrat wale answer diye hai
Remove the bg music....with 1.5x its extremely irritating
Sir pratapgarh is not a district
That bgm is most annoying thing…unable to continue with the podcast….although Vidya Bhushan sir is quite inspiring
Why people want to serve the society where they can serve society without ias they are just angragy boll Raha ha
Bruh remove the background music , then see the reach of this video. The video with 24k views nothing wrong with content it’s just great injustice.
Can't agree more.
I don't know how hard they work to crack UPSC, but at least my experience is not good with so called IAS officer. You try to reach out, you raise irregularities but they simply put blind eyes as nothing can go against ruling political party local leaders,
Hate the bgm
First remove this bull 💩 background music 🤦
There is a meme exist in pages of fb & insta of jamshedpur
Son : Mummy mei IAS bn gya UPSC nikal liya ,
Mummy : kaash Tata steel apprentice nikal leta.
Difference in basti it's infra. edu. health care & tata ruled city jsr is still same.
Hi, Can you please remove this background music from the next video onwards. It is very distracting and irritating while listening to such interviews.
