i went through about 8 videos until i found yours! your way of attaching them is much nicer looking and lays much better than the suggested ways i saw. you are greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your fabulous tutorial! I was about to give up on learning this technique and then I came across your video! Thanks so much! PS your blanket is so beautifully made in such happy colours! Your daughter is so lucky! All the best! Mary Ann ❤❤❤
Thanks Anja! I knew how to attach them but wasn’t sure what to do in the corners, great stuff! My daughter is doing a blanket ( she’s 12) and I was doing joining the squares for her but when watching you I am sure she’s going to be able to do it herself. 🌸
I like how you have done three sides before attaching to main square as most tutorials only complete one side before joining and this becomes quite cumbersome when you are attaching a square to a much large blanket involving several spin arounds to complete each subsequent squares. Thank you for a very informative tutorial.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching Carmen Yolanda Maldonado ! Anja xxx 💕🌈 Don't forget Carmen Yolanda Maldonado I do a live video on Sundays at 20.30 GMT, be there for live interaction with me! Thank you for watching and keep crocheting! Anja xxx
Great tutorial. Thank you! It is currently too hot here in California to work my blanket so I am doing a few practice granny squares and learning to join as I go. You are teaching me so much. I appreciate you.
Hello, Anje! I'm new here - and found this video tremendously helpful. Other join-as-you-go videos I've seen were done by people who chain one between clusters & chain three on corners - and who start each row at a corner. Like you, I don't chain between clusters, chain two in corners, and start rows in the chain space next to corners. Now I'm confident that I'll be able to use this method on my next project. I'm already about 100 squares into my current project, but have been putting the borders on each square as I've gone along. I wish I had found this earlier!
Shayna Reynolds Use your finished squares every other one.... you can then still do the last row with an unfinished one in between two finished ones ..... it how many are you doing as there are other ways of attaching.. with SC...
Thank you for explaining another way to join. I currently working on a big granny blanket. The way I am doing it is very confusing. And I'm putting it together with a dark color. It is hard for me to see the stitches with dark yarn. First time and last time. The way I'm doing you leave the two corners open then on next row connect one side. It's not hard but I get confused. This will be the last time I do it this way. I have three rows to go. I hope I live through it. Thank you so much for the information.
Hello Anja - I am so grateful for all your videos, you have taught me how to crochet during lockdown 🙏 thank you! I have crocheted 30 of these beautiful granny squares so far and wondering how many I will need to do for a double blanket? And also did you do you a border for your daughter’s blanket as I’m not sure how to finish this off? Thank you 😊
Thank you for your reply Anja - much appreciated - I’m really enjoying the project and it’s helping so much to pass the time creatively. I’m looking forward to continuing my crochet journey with Ophelia Talks xx
I love your videos and tutorials. I like how you chose 5 colours to work with. I started a hexagons blanket and I am using about 10 colours so it’s a bright spring blanket. Now I want to start again and use only 6 colours like you did.... what do I do with all the hexagons I made😔 what should I do? Poppy.
Thanks so much 🌹, this is exactly what I've been searching for as I'm attempting my first granny afghan. I also have a question, I don't think you did a ch sp before the sl st at the end to close off (after the last corner), is that correct? I just wanted to check, thank you.
I like your join, didn’t you do a join as you go that you pull up a loop to connect and it left a beautiful braided edge on the connect, I think it was a brown or light tan granny squares. I can not locate it.
Thank you for the tutorial. I just had another look at it to remind myself how to do it again for a second blanket. I find it fiddly but not difficult. However, I was looking at another of your tutorials where you showed a rats' nest of ends which you said your mother had spent two afternoons weaving in for you. I was horrified. I weave in my ends as I go and don't start a new square until the ends of the one just finished are completely woven in. I could not face that mess. And how many people can turn the job over the someone else ! ?
Mary Dale she offered to do them for my just like my grandma sewed them in for her.. it’s like a tradition and I was happy for her to do it as it meant she would have had a part in making my daughters blanket ....
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you for taking the trouble to reply! I see your point about your mother having had a part in making the blanket for your daughter! I still think my way of doing them as I go along is better ! ! ! I don't have anyone who would be willing to do that for me.
Hello Anje, I'm new to your channel. I love the colour combinations. I'm actually using them all,Barr the Lipstick, for a chevron blanket. However the blanket you've beer doing may have to be my next product. I am a fairly new crocheter, and I think the way you've just put these together ,may give me grief. Is this actually the easiest way to do it?. If so I guess I'll do a couple of squares, and practice. It would be lovely to have someone to weave in my ends though😀. I look forward to seeing the end result. Amanda 😁
I am working with mohair. My squares are almost done and I am having a terrible time to attach them. I am considering adding another round in another color... a big expense for me but I THINK this just may be what I have been looking for. I have had to cut out with scissors the squares that just wouldn’t line up for me. I have been so discouraged but now I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I have damaged my wrist doing this mohair blanket so now I can only work on a couple at a time. I hope to finish this blanket with these instructions. Thank you.
I am sorry you find it too fast, I am only trying to explain the technique, you cannot do a whole blanket in a video lasting 14 minutes!! There are different techniques available and maybe the one you want is the continuous join? th-cam.com/video/pEbXW3HdLlw/w-d-xo.html
Omg 😱 I love the color 🥰🥰🥰
Just finish my first granny squares blanket and it‘s beautiful ! Thank you for very clear explanations. Ginette from Quebec

I guess you would need around 240 squares as a single blanket takes 124. I did a normal granny cluster border.Hope this helps. Carry on crocheting. 😀

Beautiful Afghan
how many ball of yarn you used for a single size blanket?
We sell our packs in 15 balls, this will be sufficient for a single sized blanket, and may have some bits left over, Anja x

Still lots & lots of ends to weave in. Much too fast for someone trying to learn
