Great video! but A little PB blaster on stuck screws does wonders.... and if that isn't enough then a couple of light hammer taps on the back of that impact screwdriver and that screw would be outta there.
Enjoyed the video a lot. The link you reference at the end on how to modify the hood for more air intake does not show up in the right corner nor could I find searching your library? Thanks, keep up the informative videos. Tim
How do you adjust the two carb adjusters. Lean-high, and high speed. I have the exact same carb you rebuilt. Could you provide the ordering info on the kit. Thanks. Great video.
Hi I'm planning to do video how to adjust the carburetor. This days all the carburetor kits are made in Chaina. Here is the link to order: www.ebay.com/itm/223563893100?hash=item340d72496c:g:L8MAAOSwOTZdEKmQ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8B3baC7taaCwmZGwQIrlVPI5jezSWIl1WOHqZYzd%2F74YtDsU6mgnLz4EbIXleh7DdAs%2FMNvm1T2st640U5RNh8KfTNEyeKXNPKAktSPhlDKgQQJunTYDHzn27w48FvcAWKf7WUt2k9FiE9DjvK6Wrgii15YksjhdlaFM2C5Xhwr0r9u4h6oDl1FxV%2FNaSqPkKWtllEy6jy59IL7Fe1OvQp3bRMmcB5WsYn4f6E3J0YUEVKJydoMkCXHpKWrG2fBuzd%2BG5oQc5SR4eusBw8kTORmwCCu5%2FoENwUyQUKKUVg1FLBclzMshSZMuWRFYKz2gOg%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9DIpJi6Yg
The low speed (top) screw should be 1.5 turns out from gently closed position. The high speed (lower) screw should be 3/4 of a turn out from gently closed position. Turning the screws clockwise leans the gas mixture, counter clockwise richens the gas mixture. After getting best running operation for both high (do first) and low speed needles, put the knobs back on at 6 o clock position to allow for finer tuning while running under load in your boat.
@BoatMotors no, you can still buy genuine Johnson and Evinrude (BRP) kits! Don't get the Amazon kits because the threads are wrong on the inlet needle seat and the bowl gasket will melt. That's why he re-used those two items
Love you videos. Have been very helpful. I think I have seen all the relevant vids on the morots I have. Do you know if can I put a complete powerhead from 1976 Johnson 4 HP (4R76M) on a 1978 model (4806E)?
You can't swap out a complete power head. Here is the links to check the gasket difference. www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1976&hp=4&model=4R76M&manufacturer=Johnson§ion=CYLINDER+%26amp%3B+CRANKCASE and www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1978&hp=4&model=4806E&manufacturer=Evinrude§ion=CYLINDER+AND+CRANKCASE
I am sorry I ask so many questions, but I am learning all I can so I can do my motor myself. Where do I purchase the hand pump for the quart bottle that screws into the lower gear case. Also, what grease/oil is in the quart bottle you are pumping in? I have never worked on anything "boat" before but have worked on automobiles and airplanes.
I have recently bought a Evinrude outboard engine, ran when I bought it but now not working as it hasn't been used for a while. This is my first outboard so bought second hand as I couldn't afford new. It ran very well lovely engine, Model number E5RCLCTA, serial number B004033, 1983 model 4.5 I live in the Uk and I'm struggling to find the carb kit, and to add to that find anything online for this model. Hope you point me in the right direction with the issue I have.
You can buy the carburetor kit from Ebay the part number is : 0439072 or 0439072. I'm attaching link from one of my videos. In this video you can find the reason of your problem and how to prevent it: th-cam.com/video/GmGUMSuCmVk/w-d-xo.html
Another method of removing difficult screws like the water pump cover screws is to put small Vice Grip Pliers perpendicular to the line of your screwdriver and grip the head of the bolt with the Vice Grips. You will have tremendous leverage due to the length of the Vice Grips. I use this method to just break the torque and then go back to a screwdriver. Like the small ones in this set from Amazon: "www.amazon.com/WORKPRO-5-Piece-Locking-Pliers-Set/dp/B019MDK0GE/ref=sxin_17_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.3245d9c5-a9c6-4501-85ef-9f0656cb3265%3Aamzn1.sym.3245d9c5-a9c6-4501-85ef-9f0656cb3265&crid=1J8NNYWPWDC0H&cv_ct_cx=vice+grips&keywords=vice+grips&pd_rd_i=B019MDK0GE&pd_rd_r=86a74adf-a21b-49e2-a87b-1f4dd42bc2c1&pd_rd_w=1jcTS&pd_rd_wg=LmfXv&pf_rd_p=3245d9c5-a9c6-4501-85ef-9f0656cb3265&pf_rd_r=3XZRBM4HG2MCGQ8MSJ40&qid=1685942566&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=vice+grips%2Caps%2C274&sr=1-4-f198e6a3-f8ba-40fc-adb1-ef5348fd130e-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFGSjVCSTlJM1VIUjAmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAwMDMwMDkxSkg4VFlFVFA1V1lLJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3MTg0MTYxVFZMQU9SVjM0TU1PJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3Bfc2VhcmNoX3RoZW1hdGljJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ=="

Also, two of the three Amazon fuel pumps I just got DID NOT WORK! They are junk! They look nice though!!😅

You can buy a pump dispenser at many auto and marine repair stores. Get Marine Gear Oil, SAE 90.
What was the red grease you used on the water pump impeller?
The red grease is high temperature Valvoline.
@@BoatMotors Is it a "Marine Grease" and if you know it, does it have a number?
@@benkanobe7500 You can use any grease

That 2nd tool you teyed to remove to pump would have worked if you knew what it was its a impact screwdriver. You hit it with a hammer
The Amazon carb kits are only good for the gaskets, float and packing. The inlet needle seat never has the correct threads and the bowl gaskets MELT.
Thanks!
@@BoatMotors I really do like your videos
