@@POPCORNGameMovia I havent really established a pattern yet if I'm being honest. Have kinda built all over the place.
I always try to build in as many locations I can so I can learn the map better and better each time :) Also it is a nice challenge to play in different areas where you have no idea of what is around or to have an advantage of knowing the POIs. :)

These are still one of my favorite spots to lock down as they are often overlooked and people that do find them usually figure its to small to have alot of loot worth raiding
I enjoyed the concept of this game, I realize 1399 hours play time isn't much, but this should tell you enough about my experience. With every mediocre idea, a great one gets replaced! This game had airplanes, removed, motorcycles, removed, cars that you could repair if you had a battery and a cola can of fuel! fantastic right? removed!! modular cars is what they decided to go for instead! These cars are complex to make, impossible to handle and for lack of a better word, something stumbling out of a 1980's soviet era graphical design. Perhaps that is too subtle, I do not like this. Also for some reason the loot system is broken beyond belief! To make this enjoyable you need to increase your loot factor in the game.
If you like the idea of this game, i advise looking at RECENT TH-cam videos as this will give you a good insight of what the game still holds. Sadly, I missed the chance to fly the planes or cruise on motorcycles, that would have been fantastic! But at least there are still cars in the game! However, these modular pasted graphics are less then pleasing on a visual level.

Hi . U can put a flag inside those buildings ..I put them many times..just put the flag above first 2 sand blocks next to the door..the flag will glitch and pop up on the next floor next to the window!! btw a nade and all the spike traps are gone.. Cheers
Hey Ionut :) nice to see you here. Thank you for your tips, much appreciated. Will help many other players which wants to do this build. I think I was mentioning in another comment, I did tried the grenade with different wardrobe setups, and the grenade at least for me was destroying only few of the traps. but the "important ones" were still there.
An extra security as a window fortification or some bomb traps will help with this :)

@@POPCORNGameMovia maybe u had many storage sheds that's why didn't destroy them..i tested a nade trowed in a cabin full of spikes and the nade destroy all of them..
Used to be a really good game that had a really good vision. Now, the devs dont care. After 2.8k hours, heres what i think
NetCode:
For more than a year the game hasnt be able to handle more than 40 people on a server. The second the 40th person logs in, you do nothing but rubber band. Theres about 1 private server that i know of that doesnt do this but thats becaue they pay for literally the best hardware you can get to run the server. ( its not cheap by anymeans). Puppets (basically zombies) Theyll randomly teleport behind you mid swing due to desync caused by piss poor netcoding.
Sound Design:
The sound design of this game is just for lack of better words, complete and utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Footsteps are ungodly loud and sound like theyre underwater. You wont hear a player in a vehicle until theyre basically running you over. Gunshots will sound extremely loud or extremely quiet. Just depends on where you are standing. Punching and kicking sound like they were ripped from a batman comic.
Other Bugs that have persisted for more than a year:
Bullet chambered in guns disappearing.
Mags deleting themselves when reloading.
Mags not correctly packing the amount of ammo they should.
Hit boxes not registering hits for melee when they should, and registering hits when they shouldnt.
Falling through the ground when jumping through windows.
Static objects not rendering in while driving potentially getting vehicles stuck or blown up.
Puppets (zombies) running thru walls, or phasing thru the ground.
Just Bad Design thats been ignored since at least 0.5 when i bought the game (currently 0.8.3):
Terrible render distances, you think your safe from people laying in that tall grass? no, 200 meters out, it doesnt render in. you are laying in an untextured field for everyone else. You feel safe behind something you built for cover? no, it doesnt render in passed 400 meters, you look like ur laying in nothing.
Cooking, youd think in a survival focused game that has a super detailed metabolism would have cooking working partially. Nope not Scum. cooking doesnt do anything. make skewers if you use meat no cooking needed. if you try cooking have fun lying ♥♥♥♥ in the dirt for no benefit. If it will even cook.
Anything PVE, theres only 4 things that can kill you, stupidity by not eating or drinking water, puppets/zombies/Mechs(robots that protect military locations), and Players. Once you figure out how to sneak around mechs, and fight puppets, there is no PVE. you can say animals are a threat, but are they really? i see players more often than animals. Plus the animals are just stupid, get on a rock and wait for them to deaggro. then run away.
The problem with the Game Right Now:
The devs put stupid cosmetic items that are designed to do nothing but attract new people to buy the game is all thats every worked on anymore. We used to get major updates that would add quite a bit, polish up some mechanics, and lay the ground work for future mechanics. Now we get ♥♥♥♥ removed, promises for better versions of it that never come, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like "sexy female character models" and high heels? This game is supposed to be about prisoners surviving on an island that was turned into a gameshow by an evil company. Not sure how prisoners that all could literally be models makes any sense. Or adding a ton of chinese new year ♥♥♥♥? in a game, that takes place, in CROATIA?!?! Rather than fixing anything ive listed, theres more believe me, those are just the most pressing to me, they just add more ♥♥♥♥ that makes no sense. If you watch any of the trailers expecting anything to resemble that, you are going to be very upset. The majority of whats in the trailers, isnt 1 possible to do, or 2 not even in the game. Whether it used to be or had never been in it. There is no story, they say "oh its coming dont worry" but for 2 years now theyve said cooking was coming, they said more PVE monsters and Human AI are coming. If all your focus is PVP with some babysit your character mechanics tied in, this is the game for you. If ur looking for a hardcore survival game that has equal parts PVE-PVP, this isnt it. Everything started going down hill after .75 dropped. Nothing has made sense unless you put a tin foil hat on. Gamespires, the Scum dev studio, was acquired by the publisher Jagex, if you dont know who that is, just google it and what theyve done. Then 0.8 drops the game was basically unplayable, they changed the respawning mechanic to be depended on ingame currency. Gamespires scrambled to fix scum, they barely got it working. Then 0.8.2 comes along and adds useless ♥♥♥♥ again fixing almost nothing. Then 0.8.3 comes out and turns your characters hands into paper. You crawl? Hand abrasion instantly, you chop a branch? hand abrasion. you craft ANYTHING, hand abrasion (which can lead to death or infection which can lead to death also) literally existing causes injury now. AAAAAAAANNNNNND in a survival game where ur supposed to loot and steal your way to surviving, you now have to pay in game currency to fill up a vehicle at the ABANDONED gas stations. So since being acquired by a questionable publisher, Jagex, the game is suddenly getting extremely tedious and is beginning to
revolve around an ingame currency.... you should be able to make the connection on your own what that probably means.
Conclusion:
I used to really really love Scum. It was literally my favorite game. I dumped 2,890 hours as of writing this, into the game. But i just cant defend gamespires anymore. They dont have a clear focus or direction on where they want the game to go at this point. Every update just brings more problems than it fixes. The time period the game has been in early access and how well the game actually performs is undefendable and inexcusable. It just feels like the devs sold completely out. Hopefully everyones rose tinted glasses will fall off like they did for me and the devs pull their heads out of their asses. If you like PVP with more realistic gunplay, but not quite as intense as tarkov, and want to have to take care of your character, try scum. If you are looking for a more in depth DayZ or Rust style survival, dont waste your time or money. You'll be disappointed, and thats coming from someone who thought Scum did it better than both Rust and DayZ.
Again, i hate to leave the bad review, ill gladly delete it and make a positive one if things change, but the way the game is right now, and the direction its headed, i couldnt recommend to anyone

I used to to this back in the days... with that new 8.5 prefab electricity and gas it will make this a good strategy... I'm all about cave bases these days... very hard to raid

if they find your flag and plant their own, do they take over those blocks?
They have to take over your flag first. Taking over a flag takes 24h. When the time is over (24h) they have everything (there is no need for them to place a new flag). You have to protect your flag with all cost.
Best practice is to check your base and your flag every day and see if anyone is taking over your flag. Usually if you can build within your base area it is ok. The flag topic is large and there are a lot of tricks to mitigate the risks.

Hey WapTek123, sorry for late reply. Having the bush in front of the base is good, but sometimes you'll have to chop it down. On the other hand, I think you can no longer build exactly as I built in the video, but the location still plays a good spot for a starter base and more. Nowadays I would make the silo the core of my base and build around it. PS: The bush will grow back once the server restarts :)

Hey Den :) The basic principle still works but the base building inside the silo is currently disabled by the devs. But there is a work around coming up soon on the channel, so you can build inside prefabs.

I was able to use an animal skin rug or two outside the door going partially inside so a wardrobe can be built in front of the door, maybe you could put a base block too I didn't try that. You can put also put a triangle foundation so part of it peeks through the wall to the inside, which will enable you to build inside by chaining animal skin rugs on top of each other.
How do you hide the flag inside the tree?
EDIT: You just cut the tree, place the flag so it's not visible and after the server restarts, the tree will spawn there again making your flag invisible. BUT, I suggest you use this method only temporarily because someone found mine and my base got raided :((
Hey Ubiux 🙂 yes you hide the flag exactly how you described. If your gameplay style is more casual then yes, this should be a temporary thing.

2 flaws with this the spike traps can be destroyed if u turn away from the window jump back and crouch u can walk halfway in and destroy them also spike traps don't 1 tap in most servers so this depends on server your in the hesco block however is a good idea if you have a crew or live near 100s of cars so you can block the door everytime u log off but you will have to block the window as well with window fortifications
This also allows players to loot boxes through windows and pass full boxes through windows with the right touch it's not easy but I've done it many times.. my job in my crew is finding ways in others bases and making sure we have no weaknesses when my builders done because I ALWAYS find a way lol

I have a doubt... If I jump on the ledge and can see all the spikey traps, can I eventually use hand grenades to destroy them all? I might risk to destroy the loot as well but at least I won't die leaving all my stuff in the base...
Also, I think (but I am not sure at all) you can cover those traps with a rug.

Hey bud :) Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. That is a good question, but as far as I know, grenades do so little damage nowadays, and will need a lot of them to destroy the spike mats. On the other side I am also curious and will run a test to see :)
Regarding the rugs...you cannot cover them with rugs but I think you can cover them with chests. In the past you could cover the spike mats pretty easy, but now it is tricky. :)

With the new update that released 2 days ago the devs decided to remove all the vehicle and leave a buggy vehicle till they finish doing adjustments to the removed vehicles. bare with the game for now and hopefully within the next week or so we will see more vehicles and patches.

Hey Matt :) In my tests a grenade destroys a couple of traps, most of them stood in place, but it depends where it bounce and how you have your inside layout. Best you can do is to have a window fortification when you log off inside the base, and as an extra safety measure, a silent trap so you get notified when you are online.

Hey W1CK :) Nice to see you here :) Usually any traps, bombs etc. placed by you in your flag area should not destroy any of the chests or wardrobes. I know for sure that not even C4 won't do any damage to your base it is triggered by you. Now in any case, let's say that the pipe bomb will do damage to your storage, the damage that is dealt is not much and 1 or 2 pipe bombs won't destroy the them.

So how do you enter your base yourself and not die to your own spike traps?
If you have a flag down that covers the traps, you won't receive any damage from your own traps (spike mats, bombs etc.)

Hello again :) You do not have to destroy the spikes cause you won't get damage if you have a flag down. Only enemies and whoever is not part of the squad will take damage. On the other side you should be careful if you drive a car through the spikes, sometimes the car gets a flat. Hope this helps and I hope to see you in the future videos.

Hey Francisco 🙂 Yes, you have to put the a flag down so others cannot destroy your base building items or to walk inside your base like it is theirs.

Doesn't work for me. I made the exact same setup. I don't get 1 shot.... The animation brings me down to about 20%. Maybe you have lower than 3 constitution and therefore lower max HP?

This is interesting to hear, and I don't think is about constitution (might be) or low health (as I was spawning fresh every time). I will check it out. Tho I can only thing about 2 things: either the construction boots have increased protection, or the spike mats don't do the same amount of damage as before.

Hey Hamzah :) For some is easy, for some is hard to raid it. If the one build it the base is smart enough it won't get raided, and if the raider is smart enough will raid any base.
The base presented in the video is not supposed to be left as it is, all the videos I make refer to a template that can be improved and should be improved by the ones building it. With all experience that any player has in SCUM no base is easy to raid and no base is hard to raid. Everything is relative and related to the circumstances.

Hey Jack :) Nice to see you here, thank you for sharing you thoughts with us :) Well yes a grenade will destroy the spike mats but not much. I tested that one out when I recorded the video, threw 6 grenades on the window and destroyed 4 out 9 spike mats. What I noticed is that the important traps on which the raider with land on were not destroyed :) which was interesting :) In any case you definitely have to take an extra mile and add a window fortification.

Hey CarDesign :) You should have no such issues if you have a flag down. The only thing that i can think of that if you play on a server, the lag and desync might cause this type of issues. Let me know please if you used spike mats or spike pit as traps, and if you were doing this on a server.
