I just think some people are better suited for having dogs in general. I hate it when people get all self-righteous about things... like only they could possibly handle a dog like a belgian malinois. I just don't get it. To stereotype an entire breed is a disservice. I'm glad you enjoy your pups! I have friends who have energetic belgian malinois dogs and lazy ones as well. I think relying on info from the breeder on what they have witnessed out of the different pups in the little could help, but it's never a guarantee.

You are crazy, Malinois's are great dogs. They do the things you mentioned but with mine it is rare because I trained them for my families to bond with our life style. I have Daddy dog who is now fixed, Momma dog and four of their daughters. The only thing that they cannot be trained out of is barking at a leaf blowing across the drive way. These are the best dogs ever.

I have a Mali and is calm compared to a Shepherd I had for 13 years. Loves to cuddle.

As a Malinois owner, this video provides the most complete disservice to the breed that I have ever seen. It is a true reflection of your training skills, and/or lack there of to train a well behaved Malinois. I have done it without spending money on a trainer. All Malinois are NOT created equal and have different levels of drive, some low drive, some high drive. Breeders breed all levels of drive of Malinois depending what the dog will be used for. All herding breeds need a job to do, including the Australian Shepherd (another herding dog) that is the #1 family dog in America and even they need training and exercise. Malinois are great family pets. The fact that you don't explain this in your video is a complete tragedy. They are not for everyone and do take commitment and work. They are not for lazy people. If you can't dedicate time to provide daily mental and physical exercise, then get a shitzu. Period, plain and simple. But to over dramatize your facts of what Malinois require is absolutely nonsensical.

i think its a pretty good vid...99,99% of people having a Mal...absolutely should not have one, thats the whole point of the video

And there nothing you can tell me except you are a professional mali handler Bullshit You sound to me kinda like the type she is describing And I know nothing about them lol I mean I served with one I have 2 females at home and grew up with a counterpart full decorated GSD off Lackland base after she was decommissioned so I really don't know anything about them but I do know people are idiots lol

Her statements could be true of many poorly trained dogs. This rant makes this specific breed seem crazy and untrainable. ALL dogs should be trained. She’s furthering a dark reputation for an entire breed. Admonish the people who don’t train their dogs…not an entire breed of dog!

  • @DK9_operator

It is true that a Belgian MalinNois can be a challenge.
They are a high energy, intelligent and fun breed to own.
All dog owners should train their dogs. I‘ve trained my girl from day 1.
    She is a pleasure…sweet-natured and well-behaved.
Your rant is reminiscent of people trashing pit bulls, instead of crappy owners.
What kind of trainer are you?

This is so stereotypical!!! We are novices that purchased a beautiful male BW almost a year & a half ago. He has never torn up our furniture & he never barks!! If he barks it is to warn people, you’re too close. While he is very sociable he is also very protective however he turns off when given the word to. Yes, we have spent a lot of $ in obedience & protective training since he was 12 weeks old, we mostly did that for his happiness & our training!! He does require work time, play time & loves his cuddle times. He also takes 2 long naps a day. These dogs are extremely intelligent & I do totally agree that they are not for most suburban households!!
We spoke with the breeder & told her what we were looking for & we prayed for the right dog for our home. So while Talon is indeed a handful, especially as puppy he is also the very best & loyal friend ever!!!

Calm down it's a joke lol one thing you'll find out owning a Mal if you get involved with communities is that the owners(us) are very sarcastic and the mals have patterns they ALL follow that we like to poke fun at.....have fun with your fur missile and welcome to the club

Hi there!! I apologize if I came across as snarky-that wasn’t my intent. I agree that these dogs are not for everyone at all. You are also correct if I am being honest, I can be sarcastic 🤣🤣. Though it wasn’t m intent here. Im actually a cat person & my husband got our Mal behind my back, but guess who ended up raising him?? Me!!!
Thank you for comment!!! Truly did not intent to sound so rude…..glad to be here!!!

It's all good! When I got my first Mal who is now my PSD we had a cat and a German shepherd, fast forward a few years we now have 3 Mals I've cared for 2 litters and am now a professional trainer. Funny how one dog can transform your entire life. Best of luck!!!

Do you have any suggestions on getting to trust Mal with my kitten & 14 yr old Ragdoll kitty?? Im not sure he would hurt them but shows much interest which we try to redirect. The kitten, Grace does provoke him as for Gabriel he doesn’t look like a cat to Talon so he use to bark at him but not a vicious bark just curious! I still do not trust Talon at all with my cats. He has killed one feral cat that we are aware up at the trainers he stays at & works all week. But on weekends he is home & all is great except the cats !!

I love the fact that you pray about it. How much time do you spend with it a day. We have 10 acres and we love spending time outside but also we work everyday as well. We are praying if this is the right decision as well.

I didn't buy my Malinois, I rescued her from the animal shelter. She had been tossed out and was living on the side of the road; she had zero socail skills and wasn't house-broken. Since December 20, 2021, it's been a crash course for me and her. She has great social skills and is friendly toward everyone she meets; but she is a freakin ball of energy and gets into her one-track-mind when she wants to go to her dog run. Yeah, she's eaten my couch and chair and dug up the tile at the front door, but we're working on her anxiety (it doesn't help when idiots light fireworks). She hardly ever barks at other dogs, loves children, can't figure out what cats are, and enjoys long drives. She even takes it upon herself to guard me while I sleep. So, I can't give her up because she's joined at my hip and she wouldn't behave for anyone else. I'm her human.

LOL, I love this so much lol. My son has lamented after having a Malinois for a long time, and as a UK Dog Trainer myself, I have drummed on and on telling him don't do it, fortunately he shelved the idea of getting one, but I am sharing this video with him, it really made me laugh and I am sure it will give him some food for thought. Thank you. :)

Hate this. Negative, stereotypical, and self-centered since profit motive. By the way 79 yo F with Malinois X. Last best long term dog (l foster a lot) was also a Mal X, both from GSDs. I also fear because of the breed's current popularity and likely damage from getting in wrong hands. How about offering clinics to train owners?

    • @maranatha4133
      @maranatha4133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheMuse6959 Well said Janet. Making this kind of video and not giving the best side of Malinois is nothing but click bait with the title of this video here. And suggesting for "new to the breed" adopters to foster a rescue Malinois is even more work and can present a bad example of needed behavior modification that will alienate the new adopters to all Malinois. As most people won't know their background, for example... their socialization history that can cause many problems. ALL breeds of rescue and shelter/foster dogs require work. Irresponsible video.

Actually, if you said that to anyone who knew me they would not think you were speaking of me! Is it negative to tell Joe Public not to get a breed that the average owner can't handle or is it positive to educate the average owner? It is my duty to educate the average owner that sees a movie then wants to get the best dog since Lassie and convince them otherwise. That is one less Malinois in the shelter! Just because someone relays the facts, doesn't make them a negative person!
