Otherworld Barbara sounds totally up my alley. I 💖 weird stories.😅 Never even heard of it.

I pretty much only collected it because I was interested in The Poe Clan (also by Moto Hagio) and I’m a completionist so I was definitely surprised by how much I loved it

You read a bunch. Glad you enjoyed Otherworld Barbara. Like you said not for everyone it's probably the least accessible of any of her works but very rewarding and good weird. Fantagraphics has done a great job with these Hagio releases. Also glad to see you really enjoy My Broken Mariko. Very underrated oneshot!

Yes I absolutely love the releases by Fantagraphics, hopefully they reprint Heart of Thomas so I can add that one to my collection as well

Never read any of those titles except for Oshi no Ko, which was okay. As for the one-shots, I’ve only read Tombs and Looking Mirror, so I might check out the ones you mentioned. I’ve found out that one-shots are a very hit or miss for me, with most feeling too rushed or superficial since they have such limited pages to tel a whole story, which I get the concept of, but still have a hard time dealing with when o actually read one haha

I’ve noticed that with a lot of short story collections, especially horror ones, the limited page count really has a negative effect on the story the author wants to tell. I know in one of the Junji Ito collections (I think it was The Liminal Zone) he says that many of his stories have an ending he’s unhappy with because he was stuck with the page count. I imagine it has to be creatively limiting to come up with a story that’s exactly 200 pages.

I been meaning to get Otherworldly B but was putting it off cause of the price. Thank you for telling us what it was about cause now I will be getting it!
Still need to read DOLL. I read Haunted House & Beautiful People by Mitsukazu Mihara and really enjoyed both of them! Not sure why I haven’t read the other one shots either.
19/17 volumes OMG you read so much!!! So glad you read with us!

I hope you love Otherworld Barbara as well!
Beautiful People is one of the volumes I picked up, hopefully I enjoy it.

I'm glad you enjoyed Hellsing! The art is amazing, and some of those panels of Alucard are excellent. But it's certainly something to not take seriously, it's pretty silly, to say the least 😅
You've got me really interested in Otherworld Barbara...I have some of her other works that I'm yet to read.

I had different expectations for Hellsing because of what I’ve heard about the anime but I had a great time with it.
I was completely shocked about how much I loved Otherworld Barbara, I didn’t know anything about it when I started it. Sometimes impulse buys work out haha
