    I have a 2008. When I worked at my old dealership as a tech/service manager I uncrated the ski and took it for its first test run. But, the ski wasn’t for me. It was for a customer of ours who later became a customer of mine when I went solo. Well his kids kinda destroyed the ski inside and out but everything was there and the hull was still solid. The owner came to me and ask if I was interested in buying it bc he was just gonna buy another new one. Well I did and it took me a few years to rebuild back better. Well I ended up selling it bc I needed the cash. 2 years later after I was good financially I called the guy who I sold it too. I got it back for the same price I sold for but unlucky for me I have to redo a lot of stuff bc it was put away wet, very wet. But I got it and I’m never gonna let it go again. Check out the build on xh2o under Basketcase build.

    Top video guys!! Can you remove the Ebox without cutting wiring looms? Also, what nuts do I need to undo to take the thing out.? I've undone two on the sides. are there any more ??

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lucas, there are just two nuts holding the ebox in. Sometimes corrosion from saltwater can make them difficult to remove from the two threaded studs. Never cut the wire loom! Just keep the ebox always attached to the engine. If you remove the flywheel and charging stator, then you can remove the ebox from the engine.

    What is the lip you have around the engine bay ? Looks like it’s wrapped in hydro turf.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a fiberglass L shape piece that reinforces the opening of the engine compartment and also prevents the hood from sliding off to one side or the other.

  • @michaelgiuffrida4081
    @michaelgiuffrida4081 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What was the engine compartment painted with? Thinking of doing mine.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've never painted inside the engine compartment, our skis are all reinforced with fiberglass, carbon kevlar, or carbon fiber. So the finish you see is just the material itself. Check out the reinforcement video to see how we laser cut and install all of the pieces: th-cam.com/video/__AYqHW1UOM/w-d-xo.html

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a stupid question! It’s a two stroke 701cc and I typically mix 50:1 fuel/oil ratio.

    I have identical machine, learning to ride, I need help diagnosing, battery wears out because every time I fall off it takes a dozen start attempts, then once started it limps at slow max speed for 50-100 yards maybe til water is emptied, ? I’ve never capsized it or anything but it’s boggy for a while before power kicks in. I had to swim half a mile while dragging it back to shore.

    • @adventureair5217
      @adventureair5217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sat for 6 years before I got it.
      1 hard starts when engine is warm
      2 boggy when engine is warm
      3 battery can’t keep up with failed starts, leaves me stranded out in lake.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some troubleshooting is definitely required. The problem needs to be fixed before riding it more, otherwise other problems will arise like ruining the starter & battery, among other things.
      First I would check to see what the spark plugs look like (if they are white/dry be very careful because the engine is lean and should not be operated). Replace the spark plugs with new ones. Drain the old gas and dispose of it, make sure the fuel tank is perfectly clean inside (fuel can solidify in six years). Replace fuel filter with a new one & clean out all fuel lines, inspect the one way valve on the fuel tank. Remove carbs for inspection, probably rebuild both carbs with genuine mikuni rebuild kits. Check to make sure proper jets and needle & seat are installed. Use a new carb to manifold gasket then reinstall carbs & test again. I don’t know if you have a compression tester, but I’d do a wet compression test too.
      Then if you want to support RSKI into the future, join our new Patreon. We have different levels and some actually come with troubleshooting support via video chat. Here’s the link:

    What steering set up is that on that ski?

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an RRP steering (not over the pivot) that I modified, flipped upside down, turned the handlebar clamp around backwards (to make it over the pivot), then machined some new custom aluminum parts, and finally converted from steel bearings to custom plastic bushings. 🤣 I’m actually serious.
      A better option is to just buy a KP over the pivot steering from High Speed Industries, but sometimes I’m stubborn and just do my own thing. 😂

      @@RSKI I installed the RRP system on my stock handlepole, but the stops don't engage before the pump cable reaches the end of its travel. Any insight on modifying so the bump stops work with the stock pole? Thanks!

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ll need to move the cable to the furthest inboard setting on the rrp steering, this will equate to less travel required of the cable. I don’t know who designs these steering systems, but most of them don’t make sense at all. 😂 It’s really awesome you noticed this problem before riding, this will break your steering cable if you ride like that, so great job noticing that!
