Guys, you did great... You sound just fine... And it always comes down to perseverance and dedication to the game of soccer, which you guys showed us today with this broadcast... Now go crush up some lime juice and get well! As for the roster, it's fine... Although, I'm still wondering about Vitoria and if we've moved on from him too soon...

I don't think you can base Canada and/or Marsch off of the first 2 games. Bloody hell we're playing France, a team that has been to the last 2 World Cup finals winning one, is arguably the best team in Europe and arguably has the best player in the world. Then you add in Netherlands, who made the final four of the UEFA Nations League last year.
This is an unprecedented area of competition for Canada.

I'm a Whitecaps supporter, and love Ali Ahmed. Yet, you can't play him at left back. He is a defensive liability. With the Whitecaps it is not an issue because he plays as a winger, and his dynamic play fits perfectly. I don’t know if those positions were open on the CMNT.
Ahmed is still young, so he can develop those defensive skills, but don’t throw him into that role in this crucial window.

I wanted to see him in the middle. I wanted to see Eustaquio in the 6 and Kone and Ahmed as 8s in a 4-1-4-1. I think Ahmed would hold up against the highest levels of the game better than Choiniere. Ahmed's ability to be long with his body - getting long touches in to keep possession when things get tight - I think he'd turn over the ball less than Choiniere will. Hope I'm wrong, of course. Choiniere might be better at distribution from the centre, but I'm worried he'll struggle with the pace in these games.

@greglawrence9230 Yeah, I could see that. The roster somewhat depends on the formation that Marsch utilizes.

You can’t blame Vancouver crowed for not filling stadium when the next great one visit Vancouver. The move by Miami will not help expand soccer interest, if that MLS intended to do, but probably the opposite.

I dont think mls has gotten to big I mean all the other N.A leagues have 32 teams
America is bigger than england for example
messi legacy will be raising the tv revenue which will raise the salary cap and thus getting better players thus raising the overall quality of mls making it stronger
the end effect getting new hardcore fans.

Sorry but you are completely wrong on the Messi issue.
When someone buys a ticket, that represents the MLS' contract with that fan to put the best entertainment possible on that pitch.
If you go to a concert to see a band in Toronto, are you okay if the lead singer & the 2 best other band mates decide not to perform because they are exhausted & besides, they have 2 more important concerts coming up in NY & Chicago next week that they want to rest for? They are being replaced by much worse musicians & singers too.
No, well it's the exact same thing!
I am not an Oilers fan; but seeing Wayne Gretzky live was one of the hockey thrills of my lifetime. Sorry, but if my kid is going to see a Leafs vs Oilers game, well, seeing McDavid play live will be remembered his whole life & he probably wouldn't even remember the game, or the score if McDavid decided not to play.
It's the entertainment business & the show must go on. The customer has paid for the best show. The MLS owes it to them.
The Kwai Leonard 'Load Management' mess has become a joke & it is hurting the NBA's brand. The MLS can't afford to lose their credibility too.

    Messi's MLS legacy?
If InterMiami does not win CONCACAF Champions or even come close to winning it, and they do not win the MLS Cup, then Messi's legacy will be like Zlatan Ibrahimovic - bombastic and easily forgotten
If InterMiami does win those 2 Cups, then Messi's legacy will be like GIOVINCO's - f!@#$% LEGENDARY!!

    • @pcoleman1971
      @pcoleman1971 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't think his MLS legacy will have anything to do with his performance on the field. It will be whether the MLS continues to grow after he leaves. No one cared about Beckham's performance - he filled the stadiums.
I think Ibrahimovic was a better player than Beckham, but he didn't fill the stadiums.
Much as we may want to talk about the purity of the game, it is still entertainment.

7:19 "Suddenly the Kings of Concacaf were dethroned..."
As a dumb Yank whose lived abroad for half his life, I got a bit less dumb and insular in my thinking. This allows me to see MLS, and the USMNT from a different perspective, specifically a global one, and a European one in particular. I see both sides, both biases, and think I can see more of the truth than either side really, since I bridge both worlds in experience and knowledge.
That said, Canada were never the Kings of Concacaf. Never. The blustering silly arrogant fan culture that began to blossom when Canada had success took some foreigners by surprise. MY goodness, arent all Canadians polite and modest? No, in fact they arent much different than Yanks in my experience. Prone to many of the same behaviors and attitudes, over-confidence and bias leading to overvaluing one's own national team is something Im very familiar with in my own nation. Canada made incredible, historic progress in the last half decade. They have progressed faster than most nations could in such a time. That deserves praise and recognition. Canada has never been the king of anything football/soccer related however, and it's silly to ever have suggested it. The world cup performance and loss in the final was a nice reminder and ego check for a the most obnoxious sections of the fanbase.
