I'm from Angola, Africa. Due to the time difference, MLS games here in Africa are at 00:00, 01:00 or 02:00 in the morning. Do you know what we do?
We stop sleeping to watch the Inter Miami game, even though we know that at 5am or 6am we have to get up to go to work, university, etc.
We did the same in Ghana for Mike Tyson or Azumah Nelson boxing fights 😂😂

I don't recall in any sports that fans go and see one sportsman try and score against their team for the honour of having witnessed that moment and going home to tell everyone about it. Even when Argentina went to Peru to play the qualification games for the next world cup, Peruvian fans had their national team shirt on but it had Messi's name on the back. Opposition fans feel happy when Messi scores against them. It's like going to a concert and waiting for the main act to sing their hits.
Messi is so box office that people like myself who never followed soccer/futbol are subscribed to Apple to watch MLS games. The guy is an icon.

Compare the MLS highlights clips, Mess’s game highlights usually have 100x views. Look at the recent match day, 2M views for Miami game vs ~20k for the others. In a word, Messi lifts MLS to a completely new level
