Becki is SO ADORABLE with her giddy jumping!!!! Love the reiteration of not needing the best gear and the idea of buy once cry once - when it makes sense. Awesome video guys :D
This is why I have loved your channel for so many years. You guys are so genuine and relatable and the fact that you don’t try sell over the top things to your viewers. Love you guys!
Recently I recorded a video about how my apsc camera was more than enough for my use case and got comments like "apsc is a waste of money, get full frame". Ignore the comments that critique your stuff, you know better than anybody else why you got what you got. sick tires and truck btw, looks amazing.
I absolutely agree with your philosophy. Many times I will buy a junky Harbor Freight or Chinese thing and use it as much as I need, and many times if it dies, I fix the base item myself, which usually just has some poor components, and this will allow it to be used forever, or at that point buy a GOOD one. But depending on what it is, I will buy what I think is the 'Best', which may not be the most prestigious, since a lot of times name brand items are WAY over priced and overrated, while a mid non name brand can have the same or better quality. Some people are too proud to have 'junk', but if it works it works, and if it is in a service-critical application, I will make sure it has the best longevity and quality (IMO). I TOTALLY don't care what people think.
I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Black Bear edition. Bought it 2 years ago and only upgraded to 35's/lift yesterday because my tires had dry rot. The Toyo tires it came with served me well for 2 years. I've only regretted not having bigger tires a couple times when a group trail required it. I probably would have waited until end of year as planned if I didn't need tires.
I recently saw a video on Instagram where someone was bragging they'd made $5k from an upcycling project and that anyone can do it. She broke down the costs - she made $40 profit and the rest was AD revenue and sponsorship. TH-cam etc is massively focused on product placement - and I think people forget that. You don't need the expensive thing, and mostly the folks telling you to buy it were given it... so how can they be trusted as an objective source of advice?! Loved your comments on doing what's right for your circumstances and enjoying your stuff.
It's funny how people get super opinionated with the gear. Have camped for years with a super cheap Coleman tent. Only recently have I splurged and bought a far more expensive tent, only because I wanted the added headroom and ease to put up. And it was hard for me to justify that splurge, because I still have a fully functional Coleman tent. Just start with something and move from there. Happy to see a channel doing that.
Lift will help with slow rock/gravel crawling AND visibility (both yours and by others on the road) but the price you pay is reduced towing capacity. Plus it's fun to sit up high. I've got a 6inch BDS on my F150 with 27inch tires I installed myself with a friend.
I recently got a 4Runner and went through the process of wheels and tires which taught me about offsets. When I first saw your tires and lift I thought she just needs a little offset. I was then relieved when you came back with a “tasteful poke” 😂. I’ve followed you guys for years and love all the ways this channel is growing in different niches. Probably because I share the same interests! Keep it up! Love you guys!
"It's almost camping season".......lol.....it's always camping season. Next up, winter camping gear! LOL. Love the video and the message. It's so true. I've been struggling with "needing" to buy a new photography bag for a safari trip I have coming up. I've done all this research, purchased a bunch of bags, and just today I realized I can accomplish what I need with the existing bag I have. Just saved myself $700. I "wanted" the new bag because I was watching all the reviews. Thankfully I came to my wits.
Watching your hobbies going from photography to camping and helicopter was really amazing to see, even though i dont like camping and didnt know anything about heli/trucks im still enjoying you vids very much and see you exited like that (Becki jumping for the new tires was F cute) and having fun even for the little things is so great.
This is helping me reinvent my processes - stop trying to over-research and do everything up front... start with something and then build in some time to experiment and learn what you really need which dramatically increases the odds of getting it closer to perfect.
Been lurking around here for a while but never commented (I think). Came here for the helicopter (from Trent's channel) but really love the outdoors stuff you are doing. My wife and I are just getting into camping with a mini camper (VW Caddy) and it's so much fun. Happy to watch you latest video every Sunday :)
We did over landing in Africa in ancient Land rover. We didn't have a fancy roof top tent. Normal tent set up on wooden platform. It worked just fine! My ex was sub editor for Land rover world magazine (this was all before the internet) all the stories published in the series where about over coming the trials and tribulations of BASIC! The Africans can make something out of nothing and do an amazing job. It was such an adventure and memorable.
Loving this content. I also really appreciate the common sense approach to budgeting for quality items and resisting the urge to over consume just because you see people online having or doing certain things. Kudos!!
What a shock! An awesome vid from you's guy's! Whoever would of thunk? Nature Truckin' you Yankee Canuck's! Wow! It's all your fault you's guy's ... I want a Millenial Falcon! An R/C model. I'm gonna put a little Becki & Chris in it! I must be mad! A little OCD lol! I learn a lot at this channel; about the loads of stuff you do to give us all these channels in one channel! I liked the podcast the other day too! Thanks for not quitting! Have fun, keep safe!
Hi. I know spacers are prevalent in USA. Would not recommend them, for improved safety go with offset rims. At least so far you guys haven't seems to have done any hardcore overlanding, but it's a thing that evolves and grows. It's simply a safety advice. Also the offset rims would bring the tyre inline with the wheel arches. Just put it in a future consideration box, if you guys ever plan to go a massive trip with loads of wheeling.
Always advocate for the same! There will always be that camp that focuses on the gear but the doing it should be the focus. Whatever gets you out there!
Great video, great message, and SO true in every area. I'm also a photography and ham radio nerd, and it would be so easy to spend thousands on gear I wouldn't use or don't need, especially without using something before I can know exactly what I do need.
Honestly I got into your videos for the helicopter content. I absolutely love the outdoors content as well. As far as what you should buy. It is your money and your experience not anyone else. If someone thinks you should have a different tent, truck accessories, etc. Maybe they should just buy you it and send it to you with their money. Keep up the great videos and being yourselves
My partner often talks about how she hates doing anything “car related” because of the douchey guys who belittle and mansplain. Glad you found a shop who treats you with respect! Love that!! Also seeing B&C montages of auto parts tickled all the right areas for me 😂🤣 when cameras and cars combine! 🎉🎉
Love the speed ramping on this one! And that ratchet hit around 1:30 on the beat…chef’s kiss. So cool that the shop let you film the entire process, they seem like amazing people. QUESTION: I’m a fellow collector of many hobbies that all have their own sets of gear, much like y’all. Do you have any funny rituals or safeguards to help you from the dopamine hit of buying new gear? I have a friend who made a rule that they’re not allowed to purchase anything after 10PM, for example. 😂
Hahah I feel that… if it’s something that feels like an impulse buy, I’ll add to cart and wait a week. If I’m still wanting it then I’ll actually buy it!
Loved the video!! Wait till you go offroading and it’s a trail in 4low for a few hours, stressful, but worth it! I needed a car after writing off my car last year, someone hit me, grabbed an 13 year old jeep, put on some AT tires and just fix stuff as it breaks 😂 people keep telling me to get a new car
It's really cool seeing lug nuts put on with an impact wrench but personally I would loosen them all and retorque them by hand because then when you're stuck alongside the road changing your flat tire you'll be able to get them back off again. When they're put on with a impact that might not be the case. The other thing that you may want to check and maybe you've addressed this and just didn't put it into the video but now that you have a lift kit I bet your jack no longer fits. So maybe throw a better Jack and at least one Jack stand into the truck someplace so that you can safely swap a tire.
💯 I hate researching because most online reviews and standards are way over my budget. I’d rather spend that money on actually getting out. Budget is not a bad word.😂
Your car content is really good and unique. I have a 22 f150 tremor and my favorite thing is the stock lift kit and the big ol tires it came with. Your truck makes me want to wrap my truck haha😂
I have only camped one night in Mt. Pisgah National Park and that one night was enough to never want to do it again. There was lightening, I had a headache and the food was terrible. I do want to buy a nice motorhome, not too big because I can't park, lol.

I remember when I got into hiking people were like...BUY these!!!!!!! $1500 for a beginner hiker?!?!?! Only to find myself never using any of those things and those hiking boots sucked!!!!!! Nobody talked about how trail running shoes were so much better. Most folks are just about the brand rather than what is best and necessary. lol
As a Fuji shooter, I feel offended by the suggestion that full frame is an upgrade! (I’m kidding :P I know what photography gear is and how to choose the right gear.)
Hard to tell, but those look like the stock lug nuts. The 2 piece Ford lug nuts will cause problems down the road, McGard or another brand 1 piece lug nut is worth the $100. I know I'm just another internet rando... but don't want one of them to get stuck on you.
Love this episode. Guessing that political sign that snuck into frame in 2020ish is long since in the garbage as you two are essentially giving HeavyD Sparks channel a run for their money at a smaller scale (so far). Looking forward to your "Matching Tree Stands" episode! Great work you two!
Gosh Darn it Guys stop being pragmatic there's no room on the internet for people like you who use common sense and ignore dumb comments. Love the video and love the Truck 👍👍😎 nice job. Sorry about that harsh language I used at the beginning😂
That was a sensible and thoughtful upgrade. If you would have moved to the 35" tires, you would also have needed the obligatory gun rack and a "don't tread on me sticker" added.
You could paint it gloss pink and I wouldn't care as long as you're using it for what a truck is meant to do, which you are. I see so many trucks with $40k in accessories that the owner would break down in tears if it hit a mud puddle. That's just a useless pavement princess. But, hey... you do you. ;-)
Agreed you don't need the best gear, and you're calling out channels for using the best and creating that false feedback loop, but let's not forget you guys get sponsored or free gear/stuff all the time. You do a lot of interior design videos and either fail to mention or don't call it out enough that a lot of your furniture that looks incredible is either free or massively discounted, like your sofa, and then you're suggesting how to do design when you have designer stuff most people will never be able to afford. So you use the designer furniture to make your place look amazing so you can show it off in a video and create content around it.
We actually don’t get sponsored or get free stuff as much as you think. We did get some of our living furniture for free through a partnership (which we disclosed since you know about it and always say if we’ve gotten stuff for free) BUT we’ve also spent a ton of our own money on furniture and accessories for our house. If we “fail to mention” it’s because we paid for it. The internet has also created this weird thing where people think TH-camrs get everything they use for free even if they paid for it. You will always know if something has been gifted or sponsored on this channel because we will ALWAYS say. If we didn’t, it came out of our pockets.
Becki is SO ADORABLE with her giddy jumping!!!! Love the reiteration of not needing the best gear and the idea of buy once cry once - when it makes sense. Awesome video guys :D

You will always know if something has been gifted or sponsored on this channel because we will ALWAYS say. If we didn’t, it came out of our pockets.
