Roberto Martinez with all due respect to him, many people aren’t convinced with him as their manager given how underachieved with a talented Belgium team and things unraveled with some of their best players at the last World Cup meaning that there was an issue with controlling the dressing room and getting everyone together. They have looked ok at the EUROs so far, I haven’t been entirely impressed by them and they have heavily relied on luck and they’re not the only team to do that, they came so close to losing to Slovenia as for 120 minutes with a lot of attackers and individuals on the field they couldn’t score against a team that parked the bus and defended very well and the low block made it difficult for them to convert the chances that they created and without their goalkeeper in the shootout and the last couple of minutes of regular time where he made some big saves, they wouldn’t even have won that game. This time around against France, if they play this way and don’t capitalize on any opportunities, they’ll get knocked out. The biggest talking point surrounding Portugal in the buildup to the game on Friday, is what they should do with Cristiano Ronaldo.
He has gone 16 shots without scoring a goal at the EUROs, he missed a penalty and then was seen crying and during the game against Slovenia he showed his age and was selfish in the way he took every free kick and was acting like he’s still him doing everything in his power to score a goal and he played 2 hours of football and there’s a feeling that he’s holding back the team, personally, he should be benched, but he’s gonna start since the other players around him who are in their prime aren’t stepping up and the choices to replace him should be able to do a good job and this decision could cause an upset among his fanbase and feel like it’s disrespectful and would say it’s the reason assuming they lose even if it won’t make that much of a difference. In this situation, either bench him or if you want to play him, if you see that he’s struggling don’t leave him on the pitch for 90 minutes or 120 minutes because a proper manager makes big decisions no matter how big of a name a player is or how good they are, I have respect for what he has done in football, it gets to a point where you can’t rely on him forever. They’re not an easy team to play against since France are so good at defending and they’ll find ways to hit you on the counter attack and Portugal in order to win this game can they please have proper tactics and actually play like a team.
We need a better coach because Martinez is far from being decent, let alone good.

Out tactics are all over the place and the most famous players are underperforming (Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva) while we have new blood with a lot of talent in the bench with the likes of Francisco Conceição, João Neves, Pedro Neto.

As much as I was rooting for France in the WC vs Argentina, it was obvious that France is vulnerable to constant pressure and counterattacks. Leao will provide dangerous runs forward. Bruno and Silva can create dangerous passes cutting thru defense lines. CR7 may not be as sharp, but his consistency always pays off and perhaps it'll be his opportunity.
As if we don’t know how the match would be, Portugal would be the one giving the pressing when the match begins 😂 France never plays high pressing they wait for a counter attack and Portugal has a quality midfield than France as at now.
