This is unrelated to this video but I’m sure you know the answer. I just put air manager in and with the c172 I love it. Hardly any mouse use. What im trying to do is load better avionics in AM like a g5 or gfc500 auto panel etc but then do not seem to work. Is this common or do I have to stick with whatever the “in game” plane has? Another reason I ask is debating what RSG avionics I want to buy and do not want to be constrained to a certain plane(s) because I have say a gtn 750 and not 539 for example. Thanks
Yea, this is a perfect scenario of why it's good to find the model you want to use before jumping into the deep end.... the C172 works with almost anything, they designed that one pretty thoroughly, but most 3rd party items will only work with your model IF the model was designed to work with it. The G5's are a bit different, it works with anything that has gauges (from what I've seen), it pulls its data from normal steam gauges so it should work fine in most scenarios. You have to buy the G5 software from SimInnovations for the G5 to work on AM, btw. If it's not working, still, something else might be going on. It might work fine on AM but not on the 3d panel (in-game panel). I might make a video about this cause this is a good question with a long answer and numerous scenarios. the 750 will most likely be 3rd party software only so it'll work with most aircraft you can load up, then you can purchase the 750 from RSG, shouldn't be an issue, but you would need Reality-XP. Lot of models come with 530 or 430, those aren't hard to get working. Hope this helps.
@@flightsimguides thanks for the thorough response. I only fly in the Sim so don’t have to replicate anything for training. Ultimately I want to fly a faster GA plane like a king air to do Sid’s and stars and not just get vectored around on vatsim in 172. I haven’t gotten to that point yet though. I see how easy it is to spend money on all the RSG stuff and not be able to fly a lot of planes….. I will probably buy the gtn750 one day (already own reality xp 750 software) and do as you say with the g5. The Auto pilot is the thing that may give me trouble flying various G A planes (I think). If I knew I could fly any plane with the g1000 I’d just buy that and be down but learning it doesn’t work that way One last question if I may-I know you say the g5 works with anything but does that go for the sim innovation HSI?
Slight correction. Your USB to HDMI converters are not using integrated graphics of your motherboard. They are using a technique similar to the displaylink adapter that you also linked. Integrated graphics would be from a displayport or hdmi or USB-C port on motherboard (as long as that USB-C port carries a video signal - not all do). USB-A cannot carry an integrated graphics signal. So your adapters will introduce similar lag to what you mentioned for displaylink (for fast-changing graphics). They are great for guages and simple displays, as you have used them.
@flightsimguides Its an easy mistake to make. These adapters are basically USB graphics cards as far as Windows is concerned. You will most likely see them under device manager as a graphics adaptor. Some of the processing uses your CPU though, so they can slow your system down if displaying a rapidly changing image. These devices offer no 3D acceleration.
Hey there, I watched your other video on Amazon Home Flight Sim- in it you mention that you can achieve all avionics through two touchscreen panels, thereby reducing the need for purchasing the GNS 530/430 (and others) from Real Sim Gear. Given that the GPU is limited to 3 display ports, which I plan on running 3x55" and 1 hdmi, which you mention to use to connect the touch screen, how do you connect the second touch screen? Can you just connect both of the touchscreens to the motherboard? And secondly, would you need a second knobster for the second touchscreen, or can one knobster operate both touchscreens?
@@TylerJenson16 good question… hey u can do your 3 wrap arounds with the display ports. That should leave u with a single hdmi and your USB ports available. As the two air manager screens won’t be seriously demanding you should easily be able to use a usb to hdmi adaptor and plug the two touch screens right into the dual hdmi adaptor. I think I linked to that adaptor in this video or the Amazon vid. That should do the trick. U only need one Knobster for two screens, btw. Unless u want more than one.
@@flightsimguides Thanks for the quick reply! That's good to know. I'm going to grab two of the Asus 21.5" touch screens: side by side they will add up to 39", conveniently sized to simulate the cessna panel width. Good news for needing only the one knobster!
Could,.... kind of a pricey option that gets you to the same place for a lot more dough. Having a second GPU would probably make a case for needing a higher wattage power unit as well.
I'm running 5 screens (soon to be 6) on my MSFS system. Have a RTX 3060 and GT1030 (only card I found that has 4 outputs AND is STILL supported). Don't need much horsepower for any display other than the main one, so the 1030 works great.
@@dapage68 vr is ok. I love the 360 on my quest but it basically renders my expensive panel useless. I spend half the time feeling around for physical avionics knobs, brakes, and flaps. Good idea though. If starting from scratch. Also a better VR set than my quest 2. Graphic rez is too poor to even read the gauges.
@@flightsimguides I got a Pimax Crystal it's so clear if you can, get one, it is amazing, but you are right finding things with a VR headset on is kinda hard.
Out in the workshop for this video. I wanted to make a vid but didn’t want to stop working on the airplane, lol…
