I agree, as an owner of this model with the 2.7. It's amazing how much power this little motor has, you would be tempted to add an aggressive exhaust. It's gonna sound like a car no matter what you do, unless someone gets very creative! Great video!!
This engine would shine in the Colorado
So would the EcoTec 4.3 and the 3.0 Duramax.

Well guess whats, its coming, although the colorado may drop the V6 but for sure is dropping the diesel turbo. RIP

I'm here because I wanted to hear what the 2.7T sounded like opened up (as the CT4-V is a potential purchase). Obviously the layouts of the exhaust pathing are different but does give an idea as to what we are working with here. I really appreciate the effort you all went through here to get solid comparisons.
Awesome comparison. I've always wondered how various options would sound so I could get just the right tone, rather than guessing and investing in something I didn't like.
I owned v6 and v8 in the past. All my trucks have had an aftermarket exhaust. I bought the 2.7L Turbo because I live in California and I commute. The main reason was for the gas savings. The average gas price is roughly $3.50 per gallon. I get about 20-21mpg hwy with a 24-gallon tank. You do the math. It's been a bit hard to get used to the sound. I installed a black exhaust tip, that's it. Thanks for the video.

I recently bought a 2021 Silverado Custom with the 2.7 turbo. Honestly, I was surprised at how much power the truck has. With that being said... I’m gonna keep mine stock. Thanks for the video

Word it sounds like what it is I have the same engine and was wondering if an exhaust upgrade wouldn't only give more power with a tune but sound better. But idk man it sounds like a souped up civic with a turbo with an open exhaust 🤣🤣

I just bought one also and this video is awsome! The motor was designed like a diesel and a couple of those exhausts really made that turbo whistle and had a kackle like a diesel also. Stock that's all you can here is a little turbo whistle.
I’m coming from the zl1 and the 2.7 is very FUN!! That 430 lbs torque sis very nice with the 310 hp I beat the 5.3 V8
Got to love turbo motors. Full torque at 1500 RPM is crazy.

Me too, but according to Borla's website they only make the S Type muffler in a 2.5" diameter in/out. Not sure about the silverado but my 2023 Canyon with a 2.7 has a 3" pipe (Can't imagine the Silverado is smaller). I can't find a 3" S Type anywhere
@@DmitriCat1 We used the Borla #40842S (link below) this muffler is 2 1/2 inch inside pipe diameter so it fits real nice on a three inch pipe. If you read the info on Borla's page it evens tells you to use a three inch clamp

What are the 2 Magnaflow mufflers used?
Like the sound of the first one, it’s not really noticed but will definitely help with opening the exhaust up.

For the people that took time to comment on just how terrible a four-cylinder is in a full-size truck. Go to your local dragstrip this summer. And I promise you you will see a four-cylinder turbos woopin on v8s. Yes there’s something special about an American V8 rumble. But there’s also something cool about forced induction too. Remember 20 years ago only the race cars had turbos. They sound cool and they give you a mighty punch of torque in the mid range

Love the turbo whistle, man it’s just hard to get a small displacement engine to sound as good as a V8, my 2.7 my 2.7 Ecoboost sounds vary similar so I put the original exhaust, love to see areal review on your truck, I’d watch.

What is that little thing attached to the pipe right before the muffler? Looks like it’s electronic. Should a shop keep that or cut it out if replacing the muffler?

That Borla Atak sounds the best to me. I wonder how loud it is overall though. the magnaflow was a little quiet from what i expected to hear. Normally magnaflows on NA engines sound great and Borlas on Turbo engines are amazing :).

I have the 3.0L in line 6 Diesel engine in my 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST. I’m really hoping they end up making the borla atak system for this engine and I’m really hoping it will sound meaner than the 2.7, 4 cylinder gas engine exhaust does.
I have aborla ATAK on my 3.5 it’s super loud
I keep my 2018 3.5 ecoboost quiet. Removed the resonator and put on turbo adapters. It has a nice wistle but not loud and well....
The Flowmaster Outlaw sounded the best in my opinion
So you can make your full sized truck sound like a 1995 Honda Civic.....great job on this one guys 🥸

Loudest is Borla Atak, seamless rich daily magnaflow
4 cylinder sound coming from a Silverado is gross. I'd keep the exhaust stock and quiet. I'd go with a tune and that's it.

Yep, that’s a tough one to get used too.... Just sounds like it should be a Honda Civic driving by. I like the turbo noise though!
No tunes available for 2.7 yet nobody has cracked the computer yet. I’m gonna get the super 10 tomorrow and see what happens

I would try the Flowmaster HP-2 Laminar Flow. I have it on my 2.7 EB and it was the nicer sound vs. Other. Thanks for the test. I like the S type, and the Magnaflow muffler.

It sounds the way it does due to a very efficient manifold design to go along with the dual volute turbo. I’m willing to bet with bolt ons and a tune (once the ecu is cracked) we’ll see 400+ hp and 400+ torque...

@sleeper.simulant7327 the jb4 tuner self maps add 80 hp from reviews I've been reading. Intake exhaust and the dp about another 50 so it's definitely achievable. The better questions since the internals are forged im ready to see the bigger turbo setups
I like how the magnaflows sound but I love the turbo chirp on some of the other ones like the outlaw. Would a downpipe or a resonator delete help with that?

@@FMSPerformance this engine makes some cool noises, but I feel like a loud exhaust doesn’t help it too much. I like all the whistling it does though. I was thinking maybe getting all that turbo sound enhanced while keeping the exhaust muted but sporty might be the best way to go on this truck.

Whistling turbo is entertaining. Ive found louder mufflers droned too much on long trips, even though I liked them around town.

I just purchased a 2020 2.7T Silverado and am anxious to remove the adaptive valve before the muffler. What system did you keep on this truck, have you noticed any improvement in fuel mileage? FYI My previous daily was an ‘18 ZR2 Colorado with the 2.8 Duramax. I love my new Silverado!

As soon as I heard about this engine and I looked into the specs on it I wanted to swap this into a 2004 to 2013 standard cab Chevy Colorado 2 wheel drive

Thanks for contacting. Not at the time the video was taken. A intake was added a couple weeks after, didn't really change the sound of the exhaust but did change the sound of intake on hard acceleration. Please subscribe for more updates.
