Would think “Winna-Bae-go” would make superior RV’s. Just like ALL the others? I want to buy a used camper but don’t know what is dependable . I wanna take my 4 year old son in his grandpas 2004 Tundra V-8 with 70K. Was thinking of a pop up. I remember Winnebago from Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase :)

Robert: Phenomenal video -- thanks! Thinking about the quality issues found, I wonder if you think that there is a travel trailer out there that has "zero" (or close to zero) quality issues, irrespective of price? For example, are Airstreams (ultra-expensive TTs) "perfect" in that sense? If you don't consider the purchase price, which one would replace your Winnebago Micro Winnie? Thanks!

We have a 2019 Micro 2106FBS. I believe all new 2019 and newer models come with off-road suspension and tires. Gives more ground clearance or sure. And the gray and black water tank valve pull handles are situated in the metal frame for protection. Also all of the water tanks are insulated for winter use. The outdoor light is now an LED light strip that runs the entire length of the awning... and it's BRIGHT.

I'm 32 and live in Tampa Bay Florida I absolutely love your videos. I've offered before but if you ever come back this way please swing by for lunch. I took a summer job in Colorado a few years back and fell in love with the Midwest. My wife and I live in a studio apartment in the city and love the tiny house idea and my plan was to travel for a few years saving money to build a tiny house but the companies that offer housing Don't normally allow dogs and my small dog is our life so I started looking into campers like yours and again fell in love. The wife was against it at first but having her watch your videos has really helped. We're saving up for a small pull behind camper now and will hopefully be on the road next summer. Fingers crossed. You Don't actually have to read any further but the plan is to live in the camper for one year and save for a small piece of property in Florida. We'll spend the extremely hot and hurricane Florida Summers working in a different state then come home to Florida and vacation for the winter. Or travel. Coolworks.com has jobs everywhere in the country and normally provide free or cheap housing and free meals. Definitely a free place to plug up an RV. Traveling while making good money and not paying for rent would really help us spend more time outside. Thanks for these videos.

Add another battery or get some Lithium iron phosphate batteries and a 3-4K watt inverter. Range, no oven? One thing the dealers don’t tell you is what a PITA making the beds are. Good Morning Robert ☕️, hopefully Winnebago will take note of your extensive travels using their minimalistic camper (which I'm sure has surpassed their design use parameters for this model) over the past five years and step-up with some type of sponsorship program. Surly, their executives will take note once they see the advantages, and convert your annuel miles into rolling advertisement along with your TH-cam audeince exposure. Safe Travels ☕️

The equal Minnie, not really equal because the Minnie is a step up, was $40k or so, for a bunkhouse with slide. I was able to get a deal $24k for mine with the extra solar and lifted (Adenture package). All of the negatives that you listed has been address by both manufacturers. Net, net....great job! A really good, suggested method to buy a T.T. is to let another person, buy the model year...and then, if they wish to sell it within no more than 3 or 4 years, you will get a great deal on the model you wished to own...AND...in those first 12/24 months, any faults, or warranty that needed to be done, would have been done by the owner, their towing back to the dealer, and their down-time. As the second purchaser, you get the benefit of most has been done/corrected from factory shipped, and you get to enjoy from thereon. We did that with buying our 2018 1706FB, in September of 2019. It had one owner, that went back to their dealer (I saw the purchase papers..) and traded in for the reason of wanting another five or so, feet. They also wanted a north/south Queen bed, rather than a East/West bed this unit, and ours has.
Now, that is a personal choice, but they didn't want to have to climb over the outside sleeper, if one needed to use the bathroom during the night. That's a legitimate purchase point, for some couples, and fortunately for us, it was for them. That extra 5 to 6 feet is needed in T.T. length to accommodate a bed that has its head at the front wall of the trailer. That being said, you also have to pick up extra weight, that could be 1,000 pounds more GROSS, as well as extra maintenance of roof material, and outer side wall. Another draw back to having a North/South Queen bed, that can offset the advantage of either sleeper stepping to their side of the bed, like at home, besides the extra cost, weight, and length, is that one might no longer be able to park their T.T. (if there are no restrictions for such, where you live), because most single and double home property driveways in the 'burbs, pretty much are around 25/30 feet in depth, and some even less than that. Our 20 foot 2018 1706FB, from hitchball to back bumper, not only can park on one side of our double driveway, but there is 12 feet left in front of it, to the roadway, whereby no road salt will be sprayed or splashed onto the unit, during the Winter. (We live near the Great Lakes Area). We can also park a sub-compact in that space ahead of it, if we need to, or for guests.
So, in reading my reply, there are a few considerations, as to what length and weight and maintenance costs, are associated with a T.T. of any length. We have had about 4 T.T.'s in our married life, the longest having been 30 feet in length, but in having owned a 30, a 27, a 25, and now this 20 footer, we both agree that for the features this trailer has, and for the towing weight and camping parking length, to be the BEST BANG FOR OUR CAMPING BUCK, ever!!! We have every creature comfort feature from even our largest trailer of the past, and yet, can get into absolutely any campsite, whether it be for a dedicated R.V. or truly designed to host a tent. None of our other trailers could even attempt, or would be allowed to be installed on some of the very wonderful sites we have enjoyed with our Winnebago Micro Minnie 2018 1706FB (the 1708FP is their 'updated' version of our 1706FB.
IF you have made it down to this sentence, I do have a personal recommendation...in that they (possibly to cut production costs, or keep the MRSP down...whatever...) did away with the two wonderful and DEEP dresser gilde-slide suspension drawers that on our model year, and on the still 2019 model year, are built into the front facing Queen bed frame. Now, they only have a door (1708FB) and an empty space, that you'd most likely have to slide in a clothes basket, which now would sit on the floor or the trailer. So, if you are interested, go out right now...and search out a 2017, 2018, or 2019 **1706FB** to get those built in clothes drawers, drawers that you'd have back home...and will have also, on your mobile 'Condo'. Just a tip...and you 'll be saving many $$$'s as well as mentioned, less chance of something going wrong, that needed to be attended to, shortly after the first owner towed off the dealer's lot. Good luck...but whatever you do...the 1706FB or the 1708FB, is simply the greatest usage of your $$$'s for bang-for-the-buck features and creature comforts, as well as saving you thousands of dollars per year, in storage costs, towing costs, and maintenance that every trailer needs to have done, to keep it in prime condition. To see the double dresser drawers the 1708FB does ***NOT COME WITH***, merely YouTume a 2018 or 2019, or early 2020 1706FB, and watch the interior tour, where you will see the double dresser drawers in the bed frame. Then go back to the 1708FB and see that now, there is just a square storage door with an open space, where the two drawers used to close into. Final comment, if you go with an East-West Queen bed, you pick up over 5 owner advantages because the bed uses the width of your T.T. to accommodate a Queen, rather than needing added length of floor space that ONLY is used by the Queen, in a North-South configuration. I mentioned a few owner considerations in this detailed reply, to owning a T.T. with a East-West (as they refer to them) that are installed in the width space of your T.T. Cheers!

Camper bathrooms have gotten so small over the last couple decades. There are some nice 19 foot campers from the '90s that have a 2x3 foot tub/shower and plenty of room around the toilet. And our larger 5th wheels all had big showers, and one had a "garden style" tub. I'm starting with a 2021 Pace American 6x12 cargo trailer and making it into a simple dry camper/snowmobile hauler with just a twin bed, a folding table for cooking, and a heater. But when I upgrade, I'd rather get a larger 8x14 cargo trailer and install a full bathroom, and a camper oven and fridge.

I guess it's always going to be a compromise between reliability, weight, space and cost when it comes to RVs.
Manufacturers want to produce a competitive product but keep their own cost down as well.
I like the cargo net idea. Very creative.

Great review. I especially liked the part about the "cardboard" walls at the base of the bathroom door!!
Maybe try "White Lithium Grease" spray for your door latches/locks/hinges.
I've found WD40 is actually pretty terrible as a lubricant, it is more of a penetrating oil to loosen stuck/rusted screws/bolts.
But, thanks for the entertaining & informative video!!

@@barneybutty, I keep watching all of these RVers touting RV's but no one ever talks about the virtue and simplicity of tent camping. For me, it seems LOGICAL to FIRST start with a tent and then see if you actually NEED an RV. ...isn't that logical?

Get a new one put a 150000 AC btu in it and have it done the way you want. Get the Big Tank and the addl 25gallon water tank and every option with cold weather package. Generator big expense. I would get a 5kw diesel with a bed tank. In a bad situation you need a 30 day supply on board. Two good Batteries and a external solar charger. Go small but be BIG...

The only real problem with this trailer is that the inclusion of dual axles causes it to be way over rated for load, which causes a lightly loaded one to bounce a lot more than it should. It's sort of like a stock trailer with no cattle in it. Or my cargo trailer that is rated for 1750 lbs, that I just use to transport my 100 lb kayak. It works, but the suspension is essentially non-existent.

We have taken a lot of trips this #summertoremember and love the unit. It only has had a few minor issues and nothing to make us regret our decision. Looking forward to many more years of memories in our little 'Vinnie'
