The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.
Şehzade Süleyman, en yakın adamı Pargalı İbrahim ile birlikte çıktığı bir avda alır kötü haberi. Babası Yavuz Sultan Selim Han vefat etmiştir. Şehzade Süleyman hiç beklemeden, İstanbul’a doğru yola çıkar. Şehzade Süleyman hızla payitahta ulaşır. Hiç beklemeden cülus törenine katılır. Bir günde hayatı değişmiş. Sultan Süleyman olarak padişahlık hayatına başlamıştır.
Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

He completely missed that this was also a lesson in patience and humility
I think this is a moment that really started a shift between Ibrahim and the Sultan and caused a lot of Ibrahim’s actions/greedy thoughts and the tension between them in later episodes.
Guys try to understand young Mustafa- he was jealous because he wanted his father's (Suleiman) attention & love. He was his father eldest son which his mother and him were mostly ignored since Suleiman was deeply in love with Hurrem & even favored his half brother Mehmed (Hurrem's 1st son) and spent most of his personal time with them. What makes this even funnier yet sad was the Suleiman even spent more time with Ibrahim THAN WITH HIM. Think about how a child would feel alone and left out when he sees his own father actively doting on his other family and move on. Mahidervan knowing this did her best to raise him which she succeed since he is depicted in the series & known historically to be greatly loved by the people. The people mourn for his death more than Suleiman- he kept the very people that accused Mustafa around. Mustafa's death has left a huge impact in Ottoman history as fans & historians alike constantly think 'what if Mustafa became Sultan'.Mahivervan suffered a lot of humiliation but eventually Selim II aided her financially (mind you when his parents were gone). She outlive all of Suleiman, Hurrem & their children. Wish there was a english documentary more on them ^^ they are interesting people.

You’re right. Mustafa is such an outstanding yet tragic figure. It’s a pity, that he was always ignored by his father. He always starved for Suleyman’s attention, who always reserved his affections for Hurrem and her children. And yes, the relationship, he shared with Mahidevran and Ibrahim was so beautiful. Ah, the Ottomon Golden boy...

I truly loved mustfa since he was little boy
No body could watch a show for a little boy other than me but he was really such a tragic boy since he was a kid seeking his fathers love which he never had
I also watched the show for him. Mustafa, mahidevran, hatice and ibrahim were the only characters I found interesting
Mustafa was raised spoilt by his mother, aunts & grandmother. They made him feel he was more important than even his father. That is exactly what set him on the path to destruction. Unlike Hurrem who always raised her children to respect everyone including Madhidevran

Mustafa never ever considered himself greater than the Sultan.Don't find a point to criticize him.Even if Mahidevran and all did that,Mustafa never seemed to be influenced by that.He himself knew that it was wrong to do so.Proof being he had a vast support from the Janissaries,and thus had a pretty good chance every now and then to even attack his father.He had so much chances to rebel(example being at his death). Everyone tried to warn him but he had a firm and staunch belief in his father.And the rest you know really well.

I don’ think so. Hurrem raised mihrima saying “look what they are all doimg to me, because I was a slave once but you are a sultan by blood” the same arrogance Hatice showed her. Selim was a drunk and Bayazid was an impulsive person.
Mustafa is so much like Selim, when something doesn't go their way, they throw a tantrum and declare themselves important. Real power does not have to be declared, like hurrem, Suleiman and Mehmet
Selim for sure never had tantrums. He always acted innocent but slandered his own brother to be k*lled. Just like his mother he was a snake creating intrigues and manipulations. The one who threw tantrums was definetly Hürrem. Always whining and yelling around. That's why nobody like her in the palace. If she didn't get her will she just started to k*ll people.
Mustafa was NOTHING like selim the drunk. He would have been ten times the ruler selim was.
He was much more capable and talented than mehmet. More beloved by the people than any of hurrem's sons.
Mehmet only became governer of manisa because suleiman liked him more than Mustafa. Mustafa deserved that position.

no i actually think mehmet or bayezid was the most worthy. they had great women by their sides who encouraged them to not just think for themselves but their families as well. mustafa’s mother would’ve easily led to his downfall, she never thought with her head, always on emotions or based off others.
