Not many people remember the "GIANT ENEMY CRAB" meme, huh? Just as well, because this mech doesn't have much in the way of weak points that you can hit for massive damage.
Rotary 5's for the claws, two ppc's over the shoulder, and MRM's over the other shoulder, and a light engine makes a nasty combo in MechWarrior Online... Too much fun to be legal...
Lore would prolly be better if the claws were implemented both to protect the weapons and to allow the mech to work in a battlefield support role as a field expedient heavy object mover. Maybe unloading traincars, or something.
For the longest time my 'mech of choice was a -000 modified with 4 UAC/5's with 8 tons of ammo and 3 medium lasers on the shoulder. It didn't hit hard, but it could take a beating and draw a lot of aggro thanks to the constant fire output, so it served as an anchor for my lance in MWO. Properly supported I could trade 4:1 in a straight fight.
i spend about few milions on armament on mine to find gold spot. std eng empty arms, mrm20 mrm30 one shoulder and 2x large pulse in other shoulder. due to std eng i can be scrapped and still can fight.
Picked up a kgc-car variant in mw5 armed with 4 uac-5 in the arms and it just deletes whatever is in front of it. I personally like using twin gauss rifles to headshot other mechs from long range. It tends to pop light mechs like soda cans.
I had a friend who plays Battletech and Mechwarrior online. The King Crab is no joke and hurts bad! Me and one other guy warned him that he needed to pick a fast moving mech instead of an assault mech because the enemy team was bringing a king crab. The guy ignored us and picked an Atlas; he came back looking at us like we ruined his game forever. We warned him; King Crabs will eat mechs for snacks.
I started using this in battle tech recently. A pilot with max accuracy and multi target can potentially delete 3 light mechs in a single turn. Precision striking can see most mechs downed with an alpha strike, even to the torso. Or, just pick a body part and watch it vanish.
Ah, the KGC. An Assault with teeth -- er, claws. Those who would get into slugging range with this doom-bringing decapod, beware; this crab's pinch leaves more than just a mark.

Everyone would keep their distance from the AC/20's and pick it off... but in an urban/close combat environment you were hoping you never rounded a corner on one of 'em. Wicked BAD 'mech at close range!!!!!
Thank you, for another excellent video! This series is a favorite of mine, as is the King Crab! My favorite part about the KC is the Lyran Officer's reason: "Just point the guns at the enemy, pull the trigger and the problem disappears..." Which I found to be both hilarious and appropriate!

When playing the BattleTech computer game, I replaced the 2 AC20s in the arms with 2 Gauss Rifles. I then removed the other weapons and replaced them with 1 PPC, 4 short-range Flamers, and a number of Arm Mods to increase melee attack damage. It can keep shooting at many targets at long range then it suddenly acts like a huge Firestarter that shuts down any heavy or assault mech at close range through overheating. It can then bludgeon them with massive melee damage that generates no heat so it doesn't need many heat sinks. I often pair it with a Cataphract 0X ECM mech to act as a heavy brawler-bodyguard when other mechs swoop inside the ECM umbrella to try to target the Cataphract.

Hello Grim. I am sorry to 'harp' upon something so minor, but you are mispronouncing the name of a planet and it's most famous battle. Tukayid is NOT pronounced as Two-Kai-ID, but instead should be said as: Two-Kay-ID. In all other manners, I find your Battletech series of videos entertaining and informative. And before you dismiss me as some random 'fart puffer' from the 'Net, let me say that I have been playing BattletTech since 1984... and during all that time, I have read just about every b-tech story, compendium, rule book, and other related text upon the subject. I am thus well informed about the topic. Perhaps even more so than yourself, although I will not make that claim. speaking, Frank-ly (( note: Speaking, Frank-ly, and Frank-ly speaking, are both 'puns' upon my given first name of Frank... which in most languages translates to 'honest'))
No worries. I realize there's things I'll mispronounce sooner or later. I don't do it on purpose. I'll try and remember your correction next time the battle of Tukayid is involved.
Hey Grim. I hate to be a 'pest' and thorn in your side... but Tukayyid is not pronounced as Tue-k-eye-id, but instead as: Tu-kay-id... like some people shorten kilometer to 'kays', Tukayyid is pronounced thusly. Other than that 'minor' factor, your 'accent' isn't all that hard to follow... and yes, I am American. So my pronunciation is definitely different than yours. I know that.
Well, thanks for letting me know. I get corrected sometimes and I welcome it. I don't want to be mispronouncing. I just hope I remember next time I talk about it :)

You're welcome.
I hate AC20s... i fit mine with 4x C-UAC-10 six tons of ammo, and pretty much everything else is to just make the weight and space to fit that weapon system. God damn it slaps though.

Perhaps even more so than yourself, although I will not make that claim.
speaking, Frank-ly
(( note: Speaking, Frank-ly, and Frank-ly speaking, are both 'puns' upon my given first name of Frank... which in most languages translates to 'honest'))
No worries. I realize there's things I'll mispronounce sooner or later. I don't do it on purpose. I'll try and remember your correction next time the battle of Tukayid is involved.
Can you do a video on the adder
I'll add it to the possible topics list.

Why does the narrator sound like a member of House Kurita?
If only.
Man was the original art for this mech exceptionally ugly.
