Bugs & Flowers in Watercolor

A watercolor demonstration showing the use of the pressure stroke to create flowers, leaves, bees and butterflies. Whether you are an experienced artist or a novice it's always helpful to practice simple forms. So delicate. The bees are adorable :-) I like that you did not paint them yellow/black like they were wearing striped T-shirts. That way they always look a little cartoony. Did you learn Sumi-e first? The coloured bamboo leaves look so familiar yet different. And the music complements the painting wonderfully 🙂Greetings from Switzerland

Yes, I introduce my students to watercolor through Sumi-e painting. I like a book by Yolanda Hall. (In fact, I’m going to edit my description to include a mention of her book.) Does “goat” stand for “Greatest Of All Time”? Or does it refer to Swiss mountain goats?

No. ‘Goat’ was given to me as a random avatar name as I opened my google account. After these years is not important enough anymore to me to dive into the guts of my account to find out how to change it. I rather spend the time playing with the paints 😊. My name is Sonja. 😎
