I knew straight away finance would pay well and I have three daughters, so I looked at all the chartered bodies in Ireland, and the local universities offering finance degrees. I didn't take their word for it, I researched what these 'accountants' were paid vs charted accountants, and the difference is skewed in the favour of chartered accountants. Obviously, the chartered exams are much more indepth and difficult, meaning we can tackle more on the job. I've only hit one snag so far. I found a school offering ACCA specifically (not as part of a degree etc) but due to the way ACCA offeres specific foundation/variant papers at specific times of the year, I knew if I sat 1 or 2 applied knowledge exams, I would have to wait three months before the second or third paper was availble for me to register to do that class. I registered for all three knowledge papers, I have a parttime job and 3 kids under 7. It's bloody hard! I'm up most nights till 3am, back up at 8am to do school runs, barely have time to do chores, cause I'm always studying. It will pay off, cause I can sit 1 paper at a time from then on. I know this sounds crazy, but I don't believe in wasting time. Definitely agree! Do the research first before wasting time, money or effort!
Accounting degree will give 9 you exemptions from ACCA exams. Leaving only 4 exams to do. College exams way easier than ACCA exams. I think ACCA hardest exams you could sit in Ireland after CFA,Chartered accountants ireland exams easier based on pass rates compared to ACCA and most their exams our open book.
Also could be a good approach. This is what I did. But not in mind to get exemptions but rather was pursuing a local CA qualification and then decided to move into doing ACCA! This really also depends on the cost vs benefit of doing a university degree or doing ACCA from the get-go. I however only received 6 exemptions from my accounting degree!
Hi dude This video was very useful and i have just started my ACCA journey this year....Thank you for this video you had cleared all my doubts related to acca 😊😊❤❤
Great video Conrad. I am also an ACCA student from Botswana. I also wished I had gone straight into ACCA from high school instead going the route of going through University and battling it out for exemptions. But hey, what's done is done right? I see you were graced with several exemptions. Which papers are you left with now?
Haha wow, we should study together...! I still have FR, and I think AA for this year, then just the last few exams which I am planing to do next year.. 😊, What do you have left?
@@ConradBrink Haha no worries bro, you will hit me up with any problems you run into with FR & AA. Well I wrote the BW Tax exam a week ago. Assuming I pass that exam I would have completed all my Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams, and will now be left with Strategic papers only.
Hi there. Thinking of starting my ACCA in Namibia. But I'm worried about materials. Where do you print your learning materials? Please do respond, it would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.
