The big is low because the screener is rolling no matter what and you want the ballhandler to shoot that 2 point shot. If the screener is a big who can stretch the floor, the post defender would come up higher and their would probably be a switch to keep a body on a body.

+Todd Jamison I hate that "Tag the roller" option he's showing them. That's a bad decision if a true PG is handling the ball. Look at 3:35 if he had great court vision, one dribble and pass and that's a wide open 3 at the weak corner. The second dribble allowed the defender to get back. If he passed after the first dribble that's a wide open knock down.

It's 3 on 3. If this was 5 on 5, you don't want to have the baseline open to cutters during a motion like this.
A screen will kind of scramble your defense no matter what... but a screen paired with a backdoor cutter... THAT... is how you end up with centers having to close out corner 3's. Also, they are trapping and trying to prevent the hammer play. If the center isn't in deep enough, the driver can first threaten a layup, then threaten a reverse, then skip one out to the 3 point line (which, if the opponent got their timing right, will have just gotten into position off a screen.) The person you want helping is NOT the cross court help. You want the guy at the nail helping at the rim (because you don't want to give up a corner 3).
There's also no point starting any higher. You're trapping anyway. All that starting higher will do is make the trap harder to set and make the cross court pass easier.
If they pass out to the opposite wing, that's fine. That's an easy closeout, and so are the 2 following open passes (1 corner, 1 opposite wing).
