***** Yeah they're still like mid tier according to whoever sets these festivals up. It's just these shitty bands that have been over played on the radio for 15 years. It's bullshit. But hey they're successful in their own headlining tours. They were mindblowing this year.

    • @frankfrohmann1504

I have seen them in Frankfurt on sunday.
They are better than many famous bands.
Compare the Gorija drummer to Lars Ulrich vom Metallica.
Lars would never be able to play that stuff.

Understand that the mother of the drummer and the singer (also lead guitarist) died. A big part of the album is dedicated to it and speaks about death. Rough time for them, you can hear it in the album

Explain this more, every single song puts emphasis on Joe's vocals and guitar. I don't understand how Christian could be anything but rhythm guitar (not to downplay the energy he brings), but this sounds wrong.

    • @foulhes4972

Same here. I was just so much addicted to ''From Mars to Sirius'' and 'The Art of Dying' from ''The Way Of All Flesh'' that I couldn't appreciate any other song/album they did. I listened to this album 2 times in a row and did not like it, then I had a really long road trip and had nothing else than this CD on my car, listened to it constantly for 6 hours and now I'M in LOVE with it!
It just hit me hard, it's by far their most emotional yet most simplistic record to date.

    • @riffgroove
      @riffgroove 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm in the same boat.
Aside from Stranded, which is my favorite song from them, I thought this album was a step back for them.
I thought it might have had something to do with the fact that it looks like they produced this album themselves.
Sometimes it's a good thing to have an impartial set of ears in the studio with you.
After listening to this album repeatedly, I am enjoying it a lot more than I did.
I am still definitely looking forward to their concert here next month. Gojira are *always* devastating live.

Probably no one's gonna see this comment, but I thought I'd share that I just saw this band the other day live and they were absolutely mindblowing. It was literally a cathartic experience. And while this song is not one of my favorites from Gojira, this was probably the most unbelievable part of the show. Joe's clean vocals are much better live, and the emotional weight that this song carries came through so perfectly that it was one of my most beautiful musical experiences ever.

Thank you Julian and British Satan... passing for a big loss like this is something that makes us to rethink too much about meaning of life. And yet, for more I try to imagine she's in a better place, the the absence is the most painful thing that still... I didn't know about Duplantier's mom death when I first heard the song "Low Lands", but the lyrics touched me so much... when I knew about it, I could feel even more all the emotion and honesty of feelings present on the songs... I think lyrics are simple but very meaningful and full of expression. Something that I miss in most bands I used to listen...

    The Shooting Star Lyrics
On the first light of the day you march on
Departure has arrived, don't look back
Avoid the darkness, stay away, stay out of sight
Until you feel the blast of a shooting star
Following the spark like a rocket in the sky
Between the bear and the scorpion, getting close
Headed north, frozen land, where tigers go to die
Don't fear the cold, it'll numb your memories out
    You are higher
    In the sky
Learn the skill to stay alive, survival
The city is so mean, you're being watched
Reach the tunnel, light the torch, you're on the hunt
Until the light calls you back into the wild
When you get to the other side, please send a sign
It'll fly through the atmosphere in time
And if you hold the truth within your hands
You won't be sent back, through the rain, reborn
    Everlasting love is ever-growing
Hang on to what you have and let it grow
    Everlasting love is ever-dying
It's in the past, you have to let it go

My grandmother died a year ago, when that happened, Mario Duplantier gave me his condolences. Sometimes I think if I'm the annoying fan who writes to him regularly, but when I talked to him about the death of my granny and How meaningful this song is to me, it makes me feel that they really care that their music transmits something to those who listened to them. These guys are more than a band making music. They are people with incredible energy and share others with extraordinary music. For that and many other things they have become my favorite band ❤️🐋
