Will it start? The rolls Royce 16 Litre turbo diesel engine from the 1950s C8TFL.
Sat out side for many years can we give it one more chance to turn diesel into noise before its stripped for parts?

The engine in the video was actually one of the fire pumps at the Calor gas plant on Canvey island, before decommissioned due to terminal frost damage.

The good old C8TFL Rolls Royce. I used to work on those engines years ago. They were fitted to the Aveling Barford SN35 dump truck. Brings back fond memories

Lovely sound. We have a cv12 generator in one of our buildings, it sounds amazing at idle and full tilt, so smooth. We have newer machines in other buildings but they don’t sound like the RR. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, actually ran beautifully once it cleared all the cylinders of oil and crap from standing for years. Shame the blocks so badly cracked :(

The L60 was a fantastic idea and let’s be honest, sounded awesome, the only problem with it was the fact it was manufactured by BL

A multi fuel engine was specced. The L60 was the answer. Very poor at the start, but finished up as quite a good engine.

I'm surprised it even ran after been outside for so long, Also due to the damage seems like such a waste for them to decommission it..i don't know anything about engines but would it never perform right even if the crack was welded? can it even be welded? :)
