      it is chambered for 10mm... so no, not really. at least that is going to be my stance here in a public comment. 🤣😂

      @@CloverTac That's a pity. The Glock 10 mm will do it all day long, but is so dang blocky.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you do realize that a 40 headspaces off the case mouth and when chambered in a longer chamber you are relying basically on an extractor (much weaker than a chamber) to headspace the round, right? that is the root of my comment, publicly, i would not advocate the use of 40 in any semi auto 10mm... the potential for something bad to happen is there. now, since both these rounds in a revolver would headspace off a moon clip of some sort, that is a whole different situation. i do not know you nor your education and experise but felt the need to come back and clarify this just in case there is someone out there new to firearms curious as to why i answered your question the way i did. just becuase something can work, does not mean it is optimal or completely safe.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  ปีที่แล้ว

      follow up question, you can easily buy 10mm ammo for the same price or maybe even less than 40... so i don't get why you would want to shoot 40 in a 10mm anyway. care to give us some insight on that side of things?

    • @bubbageee
      @bubbageee ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CloverTac Your point about headspacing and extractors is well-put. The (admittedly blocky and let's face it, butt-ugly) Glock has at least one competition shooter who has fired tens of thousands of 40 ammo through his 10.

      my pleasure, on the optic front... you may wanna wait around and see if Girsan releases an optic ready version or have the slide actually machined or use a sweeping style picatinny rail (something like you see for competition. my suggestion on a 10mm and for best reliability would probably be that mount... slide movement doesn't play a role there and this slide obviously is going to beat around a lot. the dovetail style mounts i have on 9mm handguns are not solid at all... just something to think about. you certainly don't wanna miss or worse yet, just wound a deer and have it run off.

    I have been seriously considering switching from 45 ACP to 10 mm , as I carry either my CZ 97 10rnd Mag plus one in the pipe, or my Old (but trusty) Para Ordinance Double stack boasting 12 rounds in the mag plus one in the pipe, both chambered for .45 Auto. Don’t get me wrong I love my CZ, but I’m a 1911 man through and through…so, when I came across this bargain, the Girsan MC 1911 Hunter with a 6” barrel (which is a barrel length I’ve coveted in a 1911 for the extra muzzle velocities and recoil balances, aaaaand since I saw Terminator as a child) it looked a little too good to be truly worthy of its claims. With what you’ve shown me foday (when you first racked the first round, that slide it looked like it was a stick of butter sliding in a hot pan) with what I’ve heard from a few other reviews from other sources, I’m sold because of your review here today…definitely going to buy one. Thank you very much! I’ll definitely be subscribing. Stay Armed, America. 🇺🇸

I've been researching some of the other pistols in the Girsan line and so far everything seems positive. I saw in one of your comments that you didn't care for Kimber. I own two models of their Stainless II 1911s in 45 and I love em. The most accurate and reliable guns I've ever shot. But I purchased them in the late 90s so maybe they were better made back then.

      i have shot quite a few things from Metro... so once upon a time, the 1911s that were coming from the Phillipines, like Metro, RIA, etc were pretty solid. that is not really the case anymore in my opinion, they have seemed to drop in quality over the years. i think this has to do with the equipment used, it may seem hard to believe but most of the turkish companies use state of the art machinery where the phillipines run on remanufactured stuff, things they have to rebuild, etc.

      awesome stuff... be sure to keep us posted how it all works out. to answer the optic question, no, not really. there are some adapter plates out there that you attach through the rear dovetail but those are ugle, not very reliable and sit the optic way too high. girsan (EAA) has some other 1911s that are optic read, which is optimal. my guess is we might see an optic version of this eventually... but that doesnt help folks like us who already own them. if you are getting this one, the one with the rail, there are some optic mounts that attach via the rail and sweep back. they are bulky and you mainly see them on competition firearms. they still sit the sight high but they are solid and reliable. as far as replacment sights, this being a 1911, there are tons of options out there... so it really just depends on your personal preferences. for me, simply painting the front sight white with a sharpie paint marker (video on that process) seemed to help me a lot. that said, i have had great luck with both Hi Viz and XS Sights in the past on other handguns and would not rule out going that route on this one eventually. great question, thanks!

      Wanted to follow up with you real quick to say that EAA is looking into this for us. They said that it was definitely on the lighter end of things but were unsure of the actual weight. They are also unsure of replacement options. After a bit of homework (i am admittedly not a 1911 guru) i coudl not find a readily available supply of replacement options, at least for 6" anywhere significant, or that i would trust. I will try to keep you posted here as things develop. Once I am caught up with coverage from events and other poject on the channel, I may try to find some springs, play around with them and do a video on that... but we are probably looking well into the summer at this point before that can get added to the mix. thanks for the question and please stay in touch. if you find out anything, please reply here or in another comment so others can easily see it.

      every semi auto on the planet can and will run into these issues you speak of at some point with some ammo, that would be my first remark here. now, that said, maybe you are new to firearms or something, which is both fine and awesome if you are. it should be obvious from my many videos with this handgun, as well as my podcasts with EAA that i have had no issue. with the ammo shortage we have had the last two years, i have only ran a few different types through this, basically all FMJ stuff. i would also add that 1911s in general can have issues with any ammo outside of ball ammo. though this one has a ramped barrel, which does help with those types of issues. i suggest maybe checking out the comments of this and my other videos on this one. i don't recall anyone who has one saying they have had any sort of issue... doesn't mean you won't, things happen but odds look pretty good from where i sit that you would be fine. hope all that helps.

Some later rounds have the same issue during shooting. The trigger is not that great. Overall, my Glock 20 is much better! I think I might have a lemon. Very disappointed with the Girsan.

      180 degree opposite here, have had no issues to speak of at all with hundreds of rounds through mine (various types). in fact, now how the compensated carry version i am playing around with. i won't knock the G20 though, it is a great 10mm for sure

      Not sure why I am having bad luck with mine, but it could be it needs to be broken in. Maybe it needs a stronger spring. After adjusting the rear sight, I am still much more accurate my Glock 20. I have some dummy rounds I could cycle through it at home to loosen it up.

      could be, break in definitely can be a thing and that can take anywhere from a couple hundred high pressure ammo to several hundred lower pressure. this is especially true when you are talking metallic on metallic firearms. smoothing out minor machining defects is important, as is lubrication, etc with good products. the ammo you use can also be an issue and every firearm will handle that differently. i have found that most 1911s do not do particularly well with ammo that has a blunt style tip or a longer projectile. the feed angles when it comes to the magazine and ramp, well, are not optimal. as far as swapping springs, yeah, also potentially an ammo thing. there is that goldilocks zone when it comes to how fast or slow everything needs to move. limp wristing comes into play here too (not that it sounds like an issue you have) because it allows that energy that would otherwise work the slide to be absorbed through movement by that weaker grip. and, keep in mine too, glocks are not 1911s. they grip angle, bore axis and many other things are completely different, right? i love the beauty of a 1911, i love the history, etc but at the end fo the day i myself tend to shoot beter with a glock. i shoot plenty well enough with a 1911, just often not as good from a scoring or precise accuracy perspective... plenty good enough for defensive use and cerrtainly enough to have fun on the range. i would suggest really working out the slide and the trigger, maybe while watching tv. be sure you use lubrication and see what happens. from there, if you are feeling froggy and are a little handy, do some light polishing (not with sandpaper or files) on the feed ramp. i like to use mothers aluminum wheel polish and a felt or cloth wheel, lower speed, on my dremel. you can also do it by hand. next thing to keep in mind too is that no matter what brand or model you are talkinga about, there can just be stuff that just gets out with issues. let's say a company releases 1000 into the wild with a 1% rate of failure... that is 10 units right, no big deal but for those people who get those 10 it is a big deal. then those 10 complaining, and rightfully so, reach literally thousands of other people who may have issues no related but just assume since those 10 had issues they are too. a complicated way to look at things sure, but a more realistic way. it is no secret here that EAA are friends of the channel but with that comes me knowing they do very good to double check everything they bring it, they are not perfect, no one is, but they do what they can. oh and at the risk of making a long reply even longer, keep in mind too that "budget" often comes with a little required love. the most expensive part of a firearm is the human contact and human labor involved with minor details, like fit and finish. with premium brands, that is why they are so much more expensive, it isn't like the parts, metals, materials, etc are necessarily better, in many places they come from the same source. so the money you save by going cheaper just requires a little patience, love and labor to line out. hopefully all this rambling will at least give you some ideas of how you mgiht turn things around.

      Ironically, I had serious malfunction issues with 2 other new guns that same night at the range. A new AR15 upper and CZ Scorpion evo3 S1 Carbine. CZ suggested my Turkish made ammunition could be the problem.

      so i am a BIG fan of most things Turkish as far as firearms. there are a few manufacturers that can be problematic but overall they have super modern facilities, better than most US companies. they also take a lot of pride in their work. often you hear people talk abotu Turkish firearms like they are being thrown together with dirt and rocks by peopel who could care less and that simply is not true (again for the most part)... however, i am not a big fan of Turkish ammo. now to be honest, i have not used just a whole lot of it, but seems domestic stuff is better and there coudl be even bigger problems arise if you are talking about Turkish ammo in a non NATO caliber... translation of measurements, lack of experience, etc could cause issues for sure.
