    My sister ran into him in a market in the village back in the early 90’s. He saw her looking at him & he walked over slowly & whispered “ yeah, it’s me”. They both burst out laughing 😂. Sis told him she admired his work. Love ❤️ him

      She should have said, with an expression of dawning realisation, "yes, yes, it IS you, isn't it?"
      And then stood-up, pointed her finger at him, and screamed "this is the man who stole my car."

      And classier than Murray. From "The Magnificent Seven", playing off Wallach's Bandit leader Calvera, James Coburn ... "Nobody throws me my guns and tell me to run. Nobody."

      Clint Eastwood's Man with no name may be iconic, bit he is the typical "vessel" character. You see the story with them, but they don't have much development, their story isn't told and we don't get to know much about them.
      Tuco is just so much fun

    • @abehambino
      @abehambino 3 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      That’s because tuco is actually the protagonist of the story. He’s the one with the history, the one with the motivation, the development, everything. Blondie is the ghost. The fairy godmother if you will. The wise and far more capable and nearly perfect in every way that is there to protect and to teach Tuco. He is static as a character. Of course, I really don’t think this was unintentional or even mysterious. Leone did the same thing in the second movie.

    As iconic as the Man with No Name is, Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez (known as The Rat) is one of the greatest characters to grace the silver screen.
    He is a hilarious comic relief, a sympathetic underdog, a greedy opportunist and a resilient badass all rolled into one. You love him, hate him, root for him, laugh at him, learn from him and connect with him. He is extremely well-written, full of personality and depth and was brought to life to maximum perfection by the Oscar-worthy Eli Wallach.
    He is the reason The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is the cinematic masterpiece it is, other than Sergio Leone's direction and Ennio Morricone's music.

      he's the ugly for a reason, blondie is the good for the reason that he is seen as almost pure good person, while the bad is just seen as pure evil, and that's where the ugly comes in, even when he does bad things, he's still not pure evil, he still has a bit of good in him, the scene with his brother makes that a bit clear, he's not a bad person, he just made bad choices

    • @bbhrdzaz
      @bbhrdzaz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@johngriswold4303 that's the gist. Each of the characters are good, bad and ugly. It is the state of man that this movie explores. The opening credits are a distraction when we see the title of the movie appear along with a freeze frame of the characters. If you ever watch the extended version, which is the original feature length, there are some very poignant scenes of Angel Eyes and Tuco with their good sides revealed. In the opening, how can one say that "Blondie" is the good, where he guns down three other bounty hunters just to reap the reward.

      The problem is, New Hope has been reedited by Lucas and the studios so many times the only original prints are bootlegs...most of the prints we have now have been sliced, diced, and mutilated.
      One of the worst recuts is when they fix it so Greedo shoots first. It's more "Woke" that way. Can't have the hero gun a space alien down in cold juice, even if he was a professional assassin.

    • @DavidHeizer
      @DavidHeizer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That explains why it has such a wonderful Jewish flavor to it (Wallach being Brooklyn Polish Jewish) - it's the kind of line, with exactly the kind of delivery (jabbing his gun in the air for emphasis), you'd hear as the punchline in a Borscht Belt routine. Except with a Mexican accent. Just perfect!

    • @LeonAllanDavis
      @LeonAllanDavis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidHeizer I haven't thought of it from that particular angle but you may be onto something. I live in Arizona nad have a decent familiarity with the history. Lots of Eastern Europeans emigrated to America and a fair number jumped on a train and came West to work in the mines. In Arizona, that was mostly silver. Josephine Marcus was Jewish and the long-time companion of Wyatt Earp. She was born in NYC, raised in San Francisco, and moved to Tombstone as a teenager looking for fun and excitement. She became a high-class hooker. Stayed with Wyatt for 46 years. Died in 1944, if I remember correctly.

      +rdejano3 - Mile & Dejo Yes, but Tuco is clearly one of the villians. Even Blondie, is at best a anti-hero. For all we know the man with the missing man was actually a good person, or at least neutral who was a victim of Tuco. He could have been as "evil" as Tuco as well, but all we know is that the monologue could have been from a good person, but the trope is almost entirely due to bad guys talking way too long when they could just "finish the job".
