I just attempted this DIY and let me tell you....I used a POWER sander using 60 grit for probably an hour....that did it but I am fricken exhausted. A medium little sponge sander??? NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somewhat annoyed by this and wondering why that wasn't made clear in this tutorial?
You can use spray mold release or even vaseline prior to casting :) when it dries just try to stretch out the tray from many angles and it should just pop out

How do you get a pink tint to the concrete if you wanted a soft pink table??? What coloring would beat work to dye to concrete?

I don't think It is possible to sand ceramics and cement with medium sand block. It would be needed diamond sanding block or something similar.
