That's a "green dot" C4 3 speed automatic. Named for the green dot next to the D on column shift indicator. Green dot is 2nd gear, let's you pull out in snow better. Got same trans in my '65 Falcon :-)
When removing an automatic transmission, detatch the torque converter from the flex plate and push it back into the bell housing. Then drop the transmission with torque converter attached. No oil spill to contend with. Saves on the environment.
