  • This is one of the best things I have ever made, never again will I struggle to get an XS650 engine in or out of the frame, using the OB Lifter is a doddle and a must for any motorcycle workshop, OK enough of the sales pitch lol check out the engine hoist I made which cost about £75. Money well worth spent!

Well done! that will save your back. Those planes going over sounded like fighter Jets with the video speeded up lol. Dig your jeans, I bet you could sell them on ebay.

really nice design ... works a treat. It will certainly save any frame damage or accidents .
i have been trying to design something similar to lift my Lambretta scooter but they are a really awkward construction. grrrrr

NM...I got it but took a lot of twisting and shaking and emergency language. Love the stand. I welded a little piece of plate to the top of the lift arms. I had drilled holes in the corners of the plate slightly wider that the front and rear mount. I used 5/16 bolts with the heads cut off to proper lengths, slotted and washers welded in the slots on the mount ends. For the lift arm ends just stuck the threaded ends of the bolts thru the plates holes and works perfect.

Looks like 1 inch Square tube for the lift arms and 1/8 X 1-1/2 X 1-1/2 angle and maybe 1 inch X 2 inch rect tubing and 3/16 X 2" flat stock for caster mounts? That sketch with the chicken scratch went by so fast... ( Hope I only have to use this twice! ) You da' Man!

Off the top of my head I think the box section was 25x25x3mm, the rectangle was 40x20x2.0mm the angle I had laying about was 2"x2" and the flat plate was 50x5mm, I actually redesigned the lift arms so they bolt onto the angle, that gives me a bit more width adjustment for bigger engines :)

@@OldBiker Yep, that's about right. I'll use the bike to get the finals. I'm trying to clear a path to get in the back of the shop!

I would have like to have seen you actually pull the engine out with that lifter. I got mine made and can't seem to get clear of the frame. Put several boards under the front tire. Looks like it would be no problem if I took the starter and or sump off?
