Hi.... That was a very good idea. Can you explain how that frees up the tracks on the MC 707 to record more vocals? Were you able to save the instrumental patterns inside the tr8s or inside of the 707?
I just use the tr8s for the main kick, clap, and some open hats. I have other percussion sounds coming from the 707. I don't record vocals into the 707. I edit them in Ableton and import them as 3 second chunks
I own a Roland Tr-8s and LOVE it. My question is do you think adding the MC-707 to go along with the TR-8s is a smart investment only because I was under the impression you can do almost everything with just one of these units. Do you find that there is a synergy that happens when the two machines are used together? I see quite a few people on YT who have both instruments. I just hate spending money on something that could have gone to different gear. Do you find the workflow simpler when using both machines? Thanks fort the videos!!!
I mainly got the tr8s for it's sidechain capabilities. I could have done all those drums on the 707 better but doing a sidechain effect with the LFOs and the 707 is not a good way to go
When there's no sidechain, the bass drum and bass instruments fight each other for space. It's also better to have things like crashes and pad synths duck under the clap
@@Fharmer makes sense...I'm a student, so continuously broke haha I'm trying to find a dawless setup that I can mess around with, that is fun, sounds great and potentially also could play live...so far I've only been DJing which is a lot of fun but would like to expand a bit. Ho do you route them together? Im thinking of getting a 707 (already got the tr8s) - are you sidechaining it through the EXT in on the tr8s? has the 707 got an ext in with effects?
I used to use the sidechain with the TR8s but now I just use lfos on the 707. I still have the 707 as the master though. And yes it has an effects send and return
man i keep coming back to this. Are these internal sounds, and samples etc? External processing, or is this from just within the two boxes? I notice you run the MC707 into the TR8S line inputs. Is that just so you don't have to use a mixer? Beautiful mix. ❤️👍 And love the jam on the left. 😂
Bass, arps, some bongos and percs, pianos, crashes, leads- all internal stock sounds. Some other bongos, vocals, and some chord stabs are samples. No external processing. and yes, I keep my setup minimal with no mixer. Thank you for listening! More new jams coming soon! I'm thinking apricot or mango for the next one
That is true. I've come up with a workaround. If I hit stop on the 707 and 1 beat later hit play on the tr8s, no one notices. I can then load a new project while the tr8s plays on its own. When the project is loaded, I hit stop on the tr8s and 1 beat later hit play on the 707. It's like a quarter of a second of silence.
Yup. The 707 sends everything into the TR8s . There are some percussion sounds coming from the 707 that get sidechained but most of the percussion main parts like bass drum and clap are coming from the TR8S and are not side chain d
@@chriscrowder3844 yeah it would help me out so much if I could do it just on the 707 and I could pick and choose which sounds get sidechained instead of all of them all the time

Love how the plants are shaking in sync, by the way... the jar of jam seems a bit indifferent about the whole thing, try apricot next time. 😂
Haha that's funny you should mention it. I was planning on doing something orange colored next time. Possibly mango
Great stuff using the tr8 to side chain results in everything being side chained from the 707 sounds bad
Make that thang work!

eheh exactly 4:20am
Thanks! The bass is one of the stock sounds on the 707. The trick is to use the filter to find every basses sweet spot
Nice combo... are you triggering side chain compression on the MC-707 with the kick of the TR-8S?
Thank you. Yes. The main out of the 707 goes into the tr8s to get that sweet pump!
Was this all mastered in with these machines or did you record it and mix and master it after?
No mastering. No processing at all. Just recorded live into OBS

Every sound has the cutoff filter somewhere in the middle or turned low. I usually don't have any sounds with the filter all the way open
Digging that deep house vybe! Is this made with OG stock samples?
thanks! I use splice samples for my drum hits, some pads, and vocals. All the synths and basses are from the stock 707 preset sounds.
