Great video! You can use some metal electrical boxes to remove the springs without effecting the adjustments. That's a very clever idea making that 2x4 platform to raise the drum.
@@blcdad01 You need to use the single gang switch or socket metal boxes. Make sure to break off the screw tabs to get in deep enough. Rock or tilt the tub away from you to extend the spring. Insert the box over an upper and lower coil. Let the tub come back and the spring won't be able to relax. It should be easy to unhook it. The box keeps the spring extended so it's easy to re-install. You should get 1 box per spring. Once you get 1 or 2 points released you may not even need the boxes for the last one.
I used double boxes and didn't need to break anything off. Just try to move drum as far away from the spring as possible when putting the box in place. It works without messing with the screw adjustment.
@@DLSprowl I suppose you could try, but my friend did it that way and the springs all popped off because the tabs prevented him from pushing them all the way back. For as cheap as those boxes are I wouldn't bother. His were the single for more clearance. You are correct, wouldn't be necessary with the double gang box.
What does it mean when you move the washer around and it’s “sticky”, as in, it never recenters itself if you move it to the left it stays to the left and if you move it to the right it stays to the right. When I open the top lid the tub never looks centered, always off to one side. It makes a rubbing noise during spin cycle. Also the top of the tub has marks on it, like its rubbing against something during spin. Do the damper pads need to be replaced or just lubricated? Or is it something else? This is a fabulous video by the way, very helpful. I love my Maytag!
There's supposed to be an amount of 'controlled friction' which works to keep the tub centered when the load is unbalanced. That's why you use the grease. The side with the imbalance will pull the drum towards the pad to recenter the drum somewhat.
That's the easiest repair I have seen out of the 3 that I have watched 👍
Ahh, damper pads! I just put new bearing/ seal on my A712 and having some shaking issues, especially when it gets going. Thank you very much!
Excellent video in all ways.

I used contact cement. I hope it works.
Did the contact cement work ?
My Maytag washer makes horrific noise during spin cycle! I wish I never bought this washer! The worst ever!! Where is the Maytag Man?
Maytag went out of business in the 90’s. Whirlpool bought the name.
Where's the whirlpool man. LOL 73@@mechmusicman
