- In this first ever "Rock the Vote," Christopher Jones sings about lowering the voting age to 14. His master plan? Becoming president then herding everyone over 21 into concentration camps to be fed LSD for the rest of their lives. Good idea. Yeah, that's Richard Pryor on drums.
Remember going to the movies and seeing this, thought it was the coolest I've ever seen
Love this song...now it is democracy or fight!
It's a truly strange and prophetic movie.
I randomly caught this movie when i was a senior in high school back in the 90s. I immediately fell in love with it. Drive-In classic.
I saw this in the show when it came out.... I had really cool older sisters.
Fourteen or Fight Wow! what a song I remember watching this movie called Wild in The Streets with Christopher Jones and Richard Pryor which I watched this movie so many times
I remember seeing this with my older cousins at the local theater (torn down in the 1970’s). They thought it was lame and stupid. I had popcorn and a coke so I was fine with it.
Oh My God!!!! I remember this!!! Wow!! 😂😮😅
Filmed August 1967. Satire starring Christopher Jones. At the time the US voting age was 21, and the politician here played by Hal Holbrook wanted to make it 18, which it did in 1971. The song here refers to making it 14.
Trivia: Christopher Jones's singing voice was dubbed in by a singer named Harley Hatcher, who wasn't included in the movie's credits (see IMDb).
I know I’m a few years late, but Chris Jones actually did do the singing for most of the movie. (I read an interview with him a while back.) The only song I am pretty sure that he didn’t sing was The Shape of Things To Come and he didn’t sing on the album that was later released, either.
I have had this song in my head since I first saw this movie. I was 14 in 1968 and it was relevant. How silly it looks now. Can that really be Richard Pryor on drums?
I was 14 when it came out too. It was weirdly empowering, as I was protesting in my city.
Yeah that was Richard himself playing on those drums
Same here!!
Richard Pryor's character's name in this movie was "Stanley X"
Christopher Jones, RIP
Max won all 50 states, with the single but remarkable exception of Hawaii. Barry Williams (Greg Brady) played the younger Max, in the scene right before the couch stabbing and burning, running away from home scene.
I remember when this film came out, Nothing can change the shape of things to come. MAX Frost and the Troopers.
Is that Richard Pryor on drums?
Yes
yes that was Richard Pryor playing the drums for this movie
@@davidpenn9396 I knew it looked like him, thanks!
@@Paul-Mac your welcome I heard Richard plays drums but I was not so sure
Great movie. Another is Tommy. Old yes, but so much like today if we aren't very careful.
I was sitting here reminiscing and did some math and see that I was 10 years old when I saw this on the drive-in movie screen. :-)
I have such an earworm from this song.
I was 12 when this came out, and man was I steaming!!! How could you exclude the Teeny Bopper vote?
cool
See kids you can change the world. If it wasn't for Common Core. We could succeed.
I was in high school in the when I saw this movie. Love this song And fell in love with Christopher Jones, wow he kinda resembles James Dean. Also liked his short lived series, called Jesse James.
wow, this movie out of sight and far out
Very surprised to learn of Jones' death by chance. RIP
Some politicians want to lower the voting age to 16. I say make it 14 and bring back Max Frost.
At 14/15, I found this movie very empowering. (Despite the ending, of course.)
Correction: Over 30 years old to camps.
Stainmaster Zinc FEMA camps nowadays.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Does anyone notice how much heat Christopher Jones was packing in this video besides me?
+David Wise I know just kind of did an EWW there!
Just noticed....
Hahah yup! Nice! LOL
Richard Pryor groovin' on the drums and the classic album is also done by "Max Frost and the Troopers". Don't forget about Sally Leroy. Pick up your copy today! Yeah right.
I still have this album.
The dude with the trumpet is Larry Bishop, the son of Joey Bishop of Rat Pack fame.
Much better than the version that is on the soundtrack album
Tarantino wanted Jones to play Zed in Pulp Fiction, but Jones turned him down.
Can't say I blame Jones for telling QT hell no. Christopher Jones is a legend.
No way! Small world
😢 R ip Christopher Jones ❤u. Still you are not forgotten 😊
Reminds me of the current cultural debate...
Sydney Viera (Does David Hogg come to mind here???)
patriot so much so! Did you see the cover of time magazine? It's basically the whole gang from this movie...
Well this is almost true in Vermont now...
It was 30 not 21
Yes, it was 30. The Max Frost character was 24, if I remember correctly, which if 21 was correct would have put him and part of his entourage in said camps. XD
The mandatory retirement was 30, but they weren't sent to camps until 35. Lol.
donde puedo conseguir esta pelicula en colombia gracias
@1:42: Those are some vintage moves...Tom Jones called; he wants his royalties...
Yeah, Ritchie Pryor on drums. Too awesome. Does this quality as punk rock? Do you think this is what the Circle Jerks named their album after and wrote the song about?
Richard Pryor drums
When this movie came out I was 4 years old the little girl use to play on the Ghost and mrs Muir
i'm old enuf to remember this and think its funny....plus i have 14 yr old grandchildren so i KNOW its not really a good idea :p
That's why we have Trump as president.
Careful old one...
Is this out on cd ? Love to have it .
Is that the Cowsills in the balcony??
yup netflix it
I always thought this one kinda sounded like The Who when they used a sort of Bo Diddley beat, like "Magic Bus" or "Sally Simpson"...
I liked the Bo Diddley beat, too 👍
"את נותת להם לנצח?" יקי עמר
"את 50 תל מלח/לחם".
(עם כאפה. בכניסה של סרגיי. סיפרתי כבר. לפני החתונה בכמה ימים).
Love this movie! it's so dumb it's good.
Did Pryor actually play drums?
Jon Buckner ~> Shelly Winters was hilarious in this movie as was Ed Begley Sr. as an old man tripping on LSD. ☺
I think he did play drums
@@WytZox1 I know that I’m 8 years too late, but I totally agree. Shelley Winters was amazing and so was Ed Begley Sr. (and how ironic it was, by the end of the movie, that the only happy senior citizen was Senator Amos Allbright-who, in the beginning, called Max a “shaggy little monster” and referred to his followers as “filthy rabble.” Hee-hee, Senator Allbright LIKED tripping 😳😱😮) So perfect 👍 👏👍
OMG....this is TODAY. Is it on netflix? where can I see this
Movies is timeless babe
14 is aliitle too young
I thought it was over 35? Anyway, send me to the camp now please.
They seem to have "borrowed" this song from several other songs.
Evry1 ovr 30 in LSD camps, not evry1 ovr 21 OMG DUH
14 or fight and don't trust anyone over 30...
So u think movies from 1968 R new
ha ha ha ha
I too saw this movie at a very young age and it fkt me up quite a bit, I totally thought it true and possible, this is the first time I have told this.
If you think this is a joke... California just fought this battle
Nancy Pelosi was here.
I’m surprised I haven't heard any connection with Florida’s 25 year old Maxwell Frost being the first Gen Z to be elected to the US House of Representatives. Max Frost! Fourteen or fight! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell_Frost
