I understand everyone has their own opinion but I want to say that this review doesn't do this phone justice. I replaced my note 8 with it and I'm more than pleased with that decision! The phone is fast, productivity beast, and great to use. I love this phone and I won't pay 1000 bucks again for a phone that won't last a full day nor can it do as much with work. Great phone and needs to be marketed much better than it is.

Apple release the 2020 IPhone SE with a dated design with large Bezels and everyone praise it. In my opinion... the Motion looks better. Professional device. Love the BlackBerry logo on the fingerprint scanner.

The BlackBerry locker is also now available for the KEYone. On the Keyboard press the spacebar and it will save those cheeky pictures and puts them in the locker so Google photos will not display them.

One thing I'll give BlackBerry credit for is their software keyboard. I don't really wanna have a physical keyboard again but their software keyboard looks great. Haven't ever bought a newer BlackBerry though because of the generally mediocre performance.

Matthew Lemmers I use a keyone and the performance is literally fine unless your downloading multiple apps and doing loads of shit, even really unoptimised apps like snap work really smoothly

JAn Ole, the Justin Bieber of BB videos. I love that dude. I started early with BB and Jans videos with BB10 were great!!! The start with Heinz, Q10 etc. And now we have 2018!
We come a long way. Please continue doing Blackberry videos with your unique style.

Great review, Im in Canada and have had one for 3 weeks., I traded in my stupid Google $900Pixel XL
This is what I like about it...
    - Secure and updated all the time, its a Blackberry not a Apple or Google!
    - Finger sensor in front! not like Pixel in back. I can once again place on table and open phone without picking it up!
You can also program like the pixel to swipe down to bring notifications like the pixel tickle on the back sensor
    - Cheaper!! Half Price as Pixel (but its not for games! not a gaming phone!, Really people, use Ipad or PC)
    - Battery Live, Pixel would die after a day, and at times feel like pocket warmer really hot and always reboot.
    - Blackberry, quick charge and when full your good for two days! 30 min charge will take you rest of the day!
    - Nano Diamond "Dragon Tail" glass. I never get finger prints on this! Nothing sticks!
    - IP67 WaterProof. Not really needed but everyone does this now.
    - Fine tune OS. Nuggat It has Blackberry DTEK and lots of other common widgets and shortcuts a few screens away.
    - Also back and free is BB HUB and bb software! No trial. Best way to get all communications and reply back to the as your sending from another email, best notification centre
    - Convince button can hold three shortcuts. I have my as Calendar, Hub and Google Now
    - Vibration!! Pixel would be in pocket and miss emails and notifications. On the Motion you hear it well and feel the phone shake! I know it sounds crazy but I need these alerts for work! I like to hear and feel my phone!
    - Keyboard is probably one of the best, even the phone dude who sold it to me who has a Apple X was really surprised and said the typing experience is better than his. Its really like the Z30 keyboard., you can also download Google Gboard.
    - Storage, Pixel none, on the Motion - I popped in my 128 Gig 10 speed with no issues, not I can copy my song collection and movies for offline!
    - Creamy snappy Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS
    - Camera. Pixel wins but its mostly software. This camera works for me and storage space is amazing. Im sure someone can hack that new camera APK going around for better shots as it mostly software issues.
    - Locker is a cool feature I must say, for private photos
I enjoy this phone a lot! and I have used Apple 6,7, Samsung S6 and Goggle, This really feels like a solid phone.
Here are the specs for everyone again!
    OS/Software: Android 7.1.2 Nougat
    Display: 5.5in, 1920x1080 IPS LCD @403ppi
    Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, Octa-core 2GHz
    GPU: Adreno 506 GPU
    RAM:4GB
    Storage: 32GB
    Expansion: microSD up to 2TB
    Rear Camera: 12MP (1.55 micron) f/2.0, phase-detection autofocus, dual-tone dual-LED flash, HDR, 4K video @30fps
    Front Camera: 8MP f/2.2, 1.12-micron pixels, Selfie flash, 1080p video @30fps
    Battery: 4000mAh non-removable, Quick Charge 3.0
    Connectivity: USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, GPS, GLONASS
Other: IP67 Water resistance, DTEK security suite, FIPS 140-2 Full Disk Encryption, Android For Work, Google Play for Work
    Dimensions: 155.7 mm x 75.4 mm x 8.13 mm
    Weight: 167g
    Blackberry > Tool
    Apple / Google > Toy
That's my rant! I know I going to hear some positive and negative so bring it on! I'm BatMan! :)

When it comes to updates on Android, buying the Pixel makes sense because it is a Google phone and will receive updates the fastest out of other manufacturer, especially the latest OS. You had bad experience with the Pixel, but the majority had awesome. Also every single phone can be used for productivity. Maybe they are not made with that intend but they can be used for pure productivity. Saying blackberry is a tool and other phones are toys is among the stupidest thing you can say.

The worst part is the 2 year support. I am currently still running the BB-Passport and it will be support until the end of 2019. By then, I hope that a new PKB-device is ready and supported.

I got the motion last week, upgradish from my passport. I do miss the keyboard, the stereo speakers and even the equalizer presets. I also miss bb10. As for the perks, I enjoy the battery life, privacy shade ( I've used it a dozen times so far), it's waterproof(my passport had a few dives in water) and that it doesn't look like a kids phone like other brands. If I had to change one thing, it's the hub. I Really miss the old hub.

Excellent video, buddy. I think BlackBerry is mainly making these phones for Asia and parts of Europe where there's still a good amount of love for BlackBerry, that's why marketing is pretty minimal in the US. I would rather have an OS10 phone that runs android apps than a BlackBerry android phone, but I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Hey Jan, You are a Blackberry stalwart. Thanks for your reviews ... always good, honest and original! I have a question for you - How did you load your TH-cam account onto the Hub on your Motion? I wish you would do some videos, showing in depth the advantages and usefulness of Blackberry software, how to set it up, use it in real life applications, and even how it could be improved. Maybe JChen will listen to you. He's probably already watching.

The big chin does look off among the current trend, but it is important to mention than devices with 16:9 aspect ratio and Android controls on the bezel are the best setup for media content streaming, which in my my case is extremely important as I watch a lot of games from apps that do not support the Chromecast.

  • @westcoastninja72
    @westcoastninja72 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I like the chin. I had a Priv and it was difficult to use one handed. Price is pretty good unlike the Priv was. Most iPhones have a chin and they are pretty popular...or so I heard.

Nice review.....I think you have got the story right -this phone is for corporate use.. But blackberry/TCL should also have a flagship rated device....at least on par with the oneplus... no need to compete with apple/google, but give good value.

Motion is nice; KeyOne too, but both are two sides of a some coin. This way, I prefer iPhone or Galaxy.
in my opinion, a BlackBerry is better if continue with Priv; that keyboard style is really amazing, elegant and different.

Hi, super Viedeo wieder einmal.

I have a Passport, but I just use it for talk and text, $10 per month. I bought the phone off Ebay for $85 CDN with a battery life issue and installed a $25 battery. Although, I'm not convinced the old battery was the problem, out of the box, NFC is turned on and it seems to suck a lot of juice. It doesn't show up on the first page of the quick settings, you have to scroll over, so it's easy to miss. With everything but the mobile network turned off, the battery lasts for days.
It's nice hardware, good speakers, sharp screen, fairly fast. I use internet over wifi sometimes and it works fine. I also have an app called Maps.me that stores all the map data on the phone so doesn't require a data connection. It's pretty good, turn by turn navigation is handy.
The big screen is nice for things like maps, calendar, taking notes etc. The calculator is considered one of the best on any phone. The camera can take some decent shots, but it hunts around for focus quite a bit so it usually takes a few tries to get a good picture.
Don't buy this phone if you're into apps, most of them won't work. Can't even get Netflix, TH-cam works fine though. Personally I don't care about watching videos on my phone, I have a computer at home for that.
This is not a phone for everyone, but for my purposes, it's great.

You didn't mention it's water resistant and all that Apple can't have on theirs . BlackBerry 10 is still the best , there should have been a twin boot on the passport with android and BlackBerry 10 . Even better like Apple has running windows on apple as an app , so we can have android running on a passport while still having BlackBerry 10 .
