    I own a '22 SEL 4Motion. It's been a great vehicle for me.

    Taos is pronounced like "house", not "tay-os" (its a town in New Mexico). That said, I'd never buy a car without blind spot monitoring. When they delete current safety features because of supply chain issues that's a problem. I'd also never get a car with a panoramic sunroof. At least 100+ lbs of extra weight sitting on top the roof. Lets in a lot of heat in the summer too - makes the AC work harder. Unfortunately with the top SEL trim it comes standard so if you want ventilated leather seats and the premium sound system you're stuck with it. Same with AWD (don't need it - FWD would be preferable). Hate when automakers do that. Yes, I've been shopping this model - its frustrating that its good in so many ways but has so many forced compromises. When they first started making them in 2022 you could get a FWD SEL without the sunroof (it was an option).

      Thanks for adding that pronunciation correction! I think this is the first VW I’ve driven in a few years, lol. Lots to learn about the modern ones. Additionally, good insight added on trim level specs, much appreciated! 🙂

      My 2023 had blind spot monitoring and lane assist etc. stops on its own.

    I got the '23 Taos SE loaded, only in FWD. I've had her for 6 mos now, and have not had any problems. One thing I'd like to add is that they've tweaked the computer brain or something over the release model, because I hated the feel of the '22 I test drove a year ago. It had some weird lag when taking off from a stop, and then would almost slam you backwards when the turbo boost kicked in before it shifted. That was a real odd feeling, so I did not purchase at that time. Once I test drove the '23, it was like a totally different animal, calm cool and poised. I get great gas mileage with the tiny engine, even though it feels and acts much bigger than it is. With the adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and collision sensors, the car practically drives itself as long as you keep a hand on the wheel, except for on backcountry roads where the lines are not so prominent. So far, this Taos has been the best vehicle I've ever owned, and I've owned Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Mazdas and KIAs.

      I’m glad you’re enjoying it! This was my first and only so far VW review, I’ve gotta learn the current platform better and I’ll do more. Thank you for sharing your insight and ownership experiences regarding it! 🙂

      I test drove a 2022 AWD se and i loved everything about except that terrible lag off the line, maybe it’s just the AWD version? I didn’t know know they revised it for 2023. I’m in no hurry to buy a car but I’ll probably test drive a newer model soon.

    • @timndel
      @timndel ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@abonnie1 the '23 model drives much better than the '22. No turbo lag, and it feels much more peppy. My Taos is not AWD, but I tested that version also, and it's just as good.

      Hows the maintenance fee? Do you spend a lot of money maintaining this car?

    • @timndel
      @timndel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@eyem27 I got free first two maintenance visits from the dealer, haven't had my first one yet since I haven't even put 10k miles on in the first year. I am approaching one year, so she'll go in before then or when if I hit 10k miles, but I have had zero maintenance costs so far and everything is running like clock. I'll post here if anything bad happens.

    I very recently leased this coming from a Tiguan SE… mine doesn’t have a sunroof( not needed)…..but a few things made very cheap😳. Other than that it’s fine. Shifter - shifts nicely.

    I got VW 2023 Toas S Model and I’m satisfied with it, to me the interior looks better and my dealership threw in the automatic starter which is great. My main complaint is there isn’t a compartment for sunglasses.

    What does Consumer Report’s say about the reliability?
    I see that it is another victim of depressing, dark gloomy grey and death black interior colors.

    How was the road noise?

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the pretty calm weather conditions we had that day it was a very pleasant experience. I can’t speak to how noticeable road/wind noise would be in less ideal conditions, yet! I’ll likely do more VW reviews going through their line up in the near future.

      I apologize without looking it up on VW website I’m unsure. Also depending on what geographical market you’re in it could be a different answer than where I’m at. Best of luck! 🙂

    I've seen 0-60 times below seven seconds. With launch control and sport mode, it's a lot quicker.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for mentioning it, I was a bit surprised by the poor performance even at altitude with the settings I had on. I’ll definitely play around and revisit it on my next VW review! 🙂

    • @NerdLifts
      @NerdLifts ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutomotiveAnonymous208 the car is largely tuned for fuel everybody during day to day driving, but with sport mode and launch control it's a lot quicker.

    • @AutomotiveAnonymous208
      @AutomotiveAnonymous208  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. 🙂 The mode must not have been right. 😕 With a launch it would have done much better as it had no power off of the bogged down idle it allowed me to do. But with that said it likely has a very poor 5-60 time which is an acceleration off of idle, it’s actually a better metric than 0-60 for a vehicles ability to put down power. For example a Honda Odyssey has a slightly better 5-60 time than a WRX. Kinda crazy but when you lose the aggressive launch you’re left with the outcome of gearing, low RPM torque, power/weight ratio, and other factors!

      I apologize for the very late reply, I was hoping another viewer or owner could provide insight. If you didn’t see AVH in the video than it must not have it in this trim/model. I do plan to start doing more VW’s and becoming more familiar with their systems. But I haven’t perused them yet, my apologies. Thanks for watching! 🙂

      That’s a good question and I apologize I’m unsure. If you found the specific trim level you want at a dealer I’m sure you can view their specs or window sticker online to find that information out. Or VW website local to your country. Best of luck! 🙂
